  1. That is true depending upon the size and height of the vehicle and the 'angle of attack'. Still I think they are better than running into power poles. The Government is supposedly 'all about saving lives', with their hoon laws and speed cameras yet they have roads which are not optimized for safety.
  2. Just a thought. I drive down Leach Highway quite a bit and between Orrong Rd and Abernethy Rd, you have a stretch of dual carriageway with an 80 km/hr limit. In the central reservation are trees and to the left are power poles, neither are barriered off in anyway, and both items of 'furtiture' are not very far from the road. Just seems like the road needs barriers. In the UK these types of highways tend to have those deformable crash barriers to the left and right. There is a bunch of RIP flowers visible in the central reservation. I almost got sideswipped by some Lancer driver today who indicated and manouvered at the same time whilst not using his mirrors. Got me thinking.
  3. No it's been proved to be more effective than any professional driver in perfect conditions. It's one driver aid you can't argue against. The only thing maybe is it encourages complacency.
  4. The S2 indicators/fog lamps follow the 00<<>>00 style of the tail-lights...it balances the car, plus also to me it's bold, uncompromising, distinctive. The same S1 lights just look generic like off a camry or something. I'd like to see someone use angel eyes in those fog lights. S2 FTW!
  5. I thought this 'need for back pressure' thing was a myth. You don't see racecars running restrictive exhausts to 'get more torque'. An engine runs most effectively with no restriction of air coming in and going out when set up ideally. OTOH I have heard about the 'Kadenacy effect' where pressure waves (the low pressure part of the wave) of the air exiting the the exhaust system help to either clear the cylinder of waste or suck in a new charge? But I think this is a phenomenon not directly related to back pressure buy coincident to it...it's to do with the shape and profile of the exhaust system and how it relates to the dynamics of pressure waves in air. Anyway I think that an engine can benefit from this must mean something else is inadaquete with the engine, like the tune, header, or cams?
  6. Illegal. Oddly enough I found out they are legal in the UK though.
  7. An atmo BOV could be muffled. That isn't a great analogy.
  8. Sorry to hear about that Woggin. Can't imagine how tough that would be for you, your g/f and family.
  9. No reason atmo BOV's should be illegal. It's not 'cos of noise since you could make a muffled one. Yep agree that loud atmo BOV's are annoying. Seems to be EVO and Subi drivers like to cane it past people then blow their BOV's to show how tough they are.
  10. Fascinating...I guess it's a bit like the way different Diggiridoos sound?
  11. That is horrific.
  12. Nah it's staying on forever.
  13. Could have been a GTS-t with the turbo removed.
  14. Yeah looks awesome. My car is white so I'll see if I like it. Can always get it sprayed.
  15. Oh Hai. Yes I know about the three positions. I had my switch in the middle (that is door?) position where it has been all the time. If I move it to 'off' it does indeed go off but with the 'door' setting it just stays on regardless of the doors being shut or open. Does that make sense? Yep will have look at the light switch, that sounds like the best thing to do given what you say. Cheers
  16. You are lucky you didn't crash into a Ferrari or something.
  17. What I mean is it's another component to fcuk up or fail. I'm no expert but slip on spaces can't be as 'safe' as having no spacers. You put more shearing loads on your bolts, and because things are never prefectly machined you have scope for 'play' etc and eccentricity, precesion, may lead to vibration and metal fatigue. As for bolt ons now you have more bolts to fcuk up, come loose etc. I just don't trust 'em basically. Don't want a wheel flying off at 100 km around a corner. May be ok for show cars though.
  18. Stays on with slight flickering. The door ajar lights goes off though when I shut the door. If I press the switch near the door stop it doesn't make the light go out either. Light goes out if I move the switch to the right like it is supposed to.
  19. I was thinking of running some spacers, but decided against it. Why compromise the mechanical intergrity of my car for fashion?
  20. I just ordered a carbon fibre one off ebay. Fcuk it. Carbon goodness FTW!
  21. I see your point. Still think it's 'tarded though.
