  1. Bwaahahaha!! My secret shame, I guess
  2. Leigh organised all the coating, i just collected the finished products. There are a heap of fast cars out there using ETM and 6BOOST gear but i can only comment on the exceptional work of ETM.
  3. Turbo diesel VW Golfs are teh suck.
  4. Where's your car, hero?
  5. As uncomfortable as that sounds, yes.
  6. This is true but a lot of it is to do with how you present and what you intend to offer the potential sponsor. You should treat it as though you are an agent for their products and/or services and do your best to increase their business through you. There's so much more to getting and retaining sponsorship than putting a sticker on a car.
  7. The head as of yesterday afternoon. Sorry for the shitty photos. Should be finished porting and assembled this afternoon.
  8. Nothing at Rocket - waiting for a call back from one of the boys at Hi Octane. I called them to start with but they said that all they kept in stock were the Tomei Beryllium ones and there's no way known I'm spending 700-plus on valve guides.
  9. I know some of their cars use Fred from Protrans which is where I linked you to. Call and check cos if it is, you'll be stoked.
  10. Nugget! I seriously have a shitload of work to do to get anywhere near those times... Doubt it with this engine though... lol Great stuff mate.
  11. What are CA18 guides worth and where can I get quality ones from quickly and cheaply?
  12. The question is for how long, mate. Dom Rigoli had an RE401A in his 1000hp WRX for ages but how often was it pulled out and at least checked each meeting? It's a lighter car than ours too so who knows. 1000hp is one thing but in a 3300lb car it's a whole other story. C4's and Glides can hold that power in a 3500lb car all day so I know what I'd prefer.
  13. Check out the second option on this page listed under Ford C4-C10 Transbrake: High Performance 3
  14. You could quite easily adapt a Turbo 400 or Powerglide to your engine but it's all about what you want to do with it. Having a third ratio is good for cars with narrow power bands. What does your car weight and how does it make its power? The C4 is a relatively light and small (narrow) box as well so it's a good option in a drag car where every pound counts.
  15. If your rear camber is so bad that you're significantly reducing the contact patch of the tyre at launch then your 60-footers will suffer. Fix this and you should be right.
  16. Do I need to say the "P" word again? PRACTICE!!! The last three passes I had in my car with the manual had 60's ranging from 1.691 to 1.701 and the 330ft times were 4.908, 4.909 and 4.909. PRACTICE!!!
  17. The overdrive would be nice for street driving, granted, as would the bigger and stronger components of the RE403 over the Skyline 401 but like you said, they're much more expensive to build to take the power being suggested than an equivalent C4 or TH400 which are known quantities where spares are very readily available. If it came to it you could get Mike from MV to put a JATCO together as he does some good work at reasonable prices but the standard Jap boxes are too hit and miss when you start leaning on them hard. I'd stick with something that you absolutely KNOW will do the job time after time.
  18. Ford C4 (three speed), std diff and ratio, 4500rpm stall
  19. Not quite sure who you're referring to but the rest of us are talking about chassis dynos on cars in Australia. Noone has mentioned the rest of the world and in Australia at least, DD chassis dynos are the standard for power comparison, like it or not. In my posts at least i've tried to make it abundantly clear where I've mentioned horsepower figures that they're rear wheel not at the hub or engine.
  20. That sounds about spot on for a stocker.
  21. Third go, every go.
