  9. wildo that , originally was told number 3 was dead and was (possible detonation damage) cos the owner was running it on 91 ulp owner needs shooting as this motor still has factory hone marks on the bores if anyone here has some low k (stock size) 34 pistons in good condition please pm me as the internals of this motor are in otherwise mint condition and wouldnt take much to get it going again
  10. thanks guys, youve given me a bit to think about . . picked up a 34det neo dirt cheap and (also havea 33 bottom end) it has a damaged #3 cylinder and just working out my options for using what i got it had swallowed a small bolt which made it run on 5 and the guy who owned the car drove it for three months like that. .
  11. thanks for the reply gtsboy. is it just the compression thats an issue ? or piston to valve clearence as well?
  12. hi, hope it hasnt been covered before (cowers) simple question, can r33 rb25detpistons be used with a r34 neo head? ive noticed that the r34 pistons have valve reliefs so im bit concerned about piston to valve clearence and an increase in compression? thoughts? comments ? 14. it would be possible to weld it but you would possibly still have it leaking tween one runner and the next runner
  15. it would be possible to weld it but you would possibly still have it leaking tween one runner and the next runner
  16. the bonnet may have been removed/ reinstalled for whatever reason have a look around the area where the bonnet bolts onto the hinges and see if the factory sealant is still there (or has cracks in the sealant)
  17. yes, at the end of the day its your money and whatever decision you make you will have to live with. . nobody else
  18. ^^ unfortunatly you cant be sure of either the ks or the engine you pays ya money ya take ya chances
  19. (to op 2nd answer above )not time to panic yet strongly suggest you get the engine tested before you start tearing the motor down and then having to work out which TAB you can rob to pay for it :-)
  20. there is tests you can perform to determine if the hg is blown or not whilst the motor is intact, taking the(factory) hg off usually destroys it and it maybe harrd to pick up where it blew(thats if it blew at all) its just the way it is
  21. sounds dodgey, surely no one would treat a(supposedly) low k gtr so poorly run away!. . . far far away
  22. so you are saying that he should replace the hg in case in might be blown? geez thats an expensive way of diagnosing a problem
  23. ^^ bad idea - the hg blew for a reason he needs to establish why the hg blew in the first place otherwise he could be doing this all over again very shortly
  24. paint your rocker covers silver. .
  25. cost a little to cost a lot! you cant determine cost that easy as a b or c involves a part or total strip down of the motor
