ahh crossed wires sorry!

i said 290 not 270. only engine freedoms are ecu, cam gears and fuel. turbos must run standard boost which in an evo X is 1.6 bar.

hmm looks like a little pinging at some stage, obviously not too bad though. I have finally sorted the cooling problems in my race car, no problems running indefiantely at race speed these days (1hr +). I am not sure what fixed the issues but here are the things I did for cooling: standard fan and shroud n1 water pump greddy overdriven water pump pulley new viscous coupling for fan china 40mm radiator 1.3 bar radiator cap nismo thermostat with all of those things, water temps were just acceptable. when it last ran in that spec it was overheating badly but that turned out to be a water leak (so farking annoyed I checked everything except a simple pressure check) since then i changed to: pwr twin pass radiator moved oil cooler from in front of the radiator to the ps guard. shrounding the radiator to the chassis and front bar entry now it is absolutely fine. in fact i changed back to a standard thermostat because it was running too cool for my liking. they are the facts. my guess is the most important of all of the changes was proper ducting from the front bar entrance to the radiator. if i was air, i would find any way to go around the radiator instead of through it. no reason to think the pwr radiator was any better than the china one, especially not for $800 and 2 mistakes between the order and what I received

really? even in production cars the emo X are quicker in a straight line than the 290RWKW v8s....

Track Car Brake Advice
Duncan replied to Craig19789's topic in Suspension, braking, tyres and drivetrain
the 4 spot wilwoods I've seen were pretty poor....too much caliper flex. But like all manufacturers I'm sure htey have different models, hopefully the group buy ones are more solid -
Track Tires From Tyre Rack
Duncan replied to Roy's topic in Suspension, braking, tyres and drivetrain
3 years sounds like the edge of acceptable to me. I would be very unhappy if they are track tyres, roadies are probably ok for 3-5 years. in practice, the amount of light and heat where they are stored are more important than time, but you obviously don't know how they were stored. and with track tyres, the number of heat cycles (times you have raced on them) is more important than time or storage -
jiffo....of all the posts in here.....yours needs pics the most!

OK...I trust you are sure the valves were not impacting a piston. depends on where the motor and cam were when assembled of course.
-
sort of...but it is rubbish! http://www.eastern-creek-raceway.com/events.htm jeeus, no pressure there! the field is going to be damn competitive including those pesky emo Xs. Luckily they are down to 1.2bar this year instead of 1.6+

did you trying turning the cam with the head on the motor, including timing belt, or was the head off the motor? I have had to tunnel bore the cam tunnels before. When you say the head is straight do you just mean the surface that bolts to the block of have you checked the cam tunnels

lol that should be spectacular, if not quick

Round 1 of the NSW State Champs are on this weekend at Eastern Creek. Categories include Sports Sedans, Improved Production, HQs, Production sports, and of course the mighty production touring category....and for the first time in about 5 years there are 2 GTRs on the grid. Each category has qualifying and 1 race on sat, and 2 races on sunday If you do make it drop by, I will be set up on the skidpan somewhere wishing I could afford a garage The good news is, ARDC have finally worked out it is more expensive to pay for a gatekeeper than to just throw the gates open.....so entry is free both days.

perfect commuter car I spotted Charlie's red stealth ute this morning

yeah it is 100% on the cards ben...just sorting out a date. the conditions are still bullshit (ie we take the financial risk if it's not full, they make all the profit if it is full or overfull)
-
and I thought we were traveling Ninja style and would never get spotted in that! jeebus! I thought they only existed in GT5

Wakie Track Day Wrap-Up Thread - 5 March 2011
Duncan replied to GoldZilla's topic in New South Wales
oh ouch! you should never let your children leave unless you are ready for anything to happen to them. I still don't know what happened to zerasa (ne huge1), it came to 1 track day then disappeared -
Track Car Brake Advice
Duncan replied to Craig19789's topic in Suspension, braking, tyres and drivetrain
I would put ksport on the front and leave the standard rears (they are already pretty good). I run the ksport style brakes on my race car when I am allowed to, and the stagea and z road cars all the time. they are excellent for the price and are as good as brand brakes 3x the price. -

yeah you can buy flaring tools, they are cheap. but you need to flush the lines well after cutting the old end off. everything uses a standard flare, it is 30o or something.

Need Help Getting My S14 Running Properly Diagnostic Problems
Duncan replied to chriz's topic in General Maintenance
hmm well if it's not rough, and it's not timing... does it actually make boost? maybe the turbo is missing a compressor wheel? if not that....breathing problem - is there a major restriction in the inlet or exhaust? blocked cat or maybe pete helped you with the motor and left a rag in the intake? -
Need Help Getting My S14 Running Properly Diagnostic Problems
Duncan replied to chriz's topic in General Maintenance
no need to double post! it's running smooth (no miss), but very sluggish? my guess is you are going to find it is a timing issue. Are you 100% sure the CAS is correct in the cam (ie keyway not broken?) Are you 100% sure your timing light is reading correctly? Run spark plug lead from the coil pack to the plug with a timing light attached. I know you said you checked the timing belt etc but maybe get someone to double check incase you are missing something obvious are the zorst temps very hot? -
Changing Only Front Calipers/rotors
Duncan replied to SargeRX8's topic in Suspension, braking, tyres and drivetrain
really? I found the 2 peice rotors and ally calipers a fair bit lighter than factory gtr Certainly much lighter than the stagea or 350z setup with their large cast calipers. -
12. so far.
-
I have not looked at the standard system for a while....but I think there is a one way valve in the system from factory.
-
looks like excellent fun...where was the track, who ran the event....and when is the next one on?
