  1. Fair point but once the local supply dries up, the only real place you will be able to get them from is Japan. As was stated in another post, 4 years ago there were over 60 R32 GT-R's available on Carpoint/Carsales..... Today that figure is 12 (new low record). The currency is what it is and will remain low for a while. In the current low interest rate climate the reserve bank doesn't want the dollar to rise. It is vital for our exporters to be competitive and a lower Aussie dollar is what they need. The flipside of course is if you want to import stuff, you pay through the nose. These cars are becoming world cars, a far cry from their intended JDM roots. If we want them, then we have to eventually pay world pricing. If not........ Then buy a used HSV or FPV.... Until they get defunct. Cheers, Bob.
  2. Worst still........... That's just the outer moulds, then you need to buy the inner fasteners. They are a couple of hundred each too! In a couple of years time these cars will be well and truly out of the reach of the enthusiast. The poor cars will be wrecked out and the good cars will continue to rise in value. My mate bought this Porsche 911 in 2008 for $42,500....... Spent about $18K over time and it's a multiple trophy winning car. Listed it late last week....... http://www.classicthrottleshop.com/modernclassic8.html Ironically, how many 911's do you think Porsche made between 1984-1989? These were last of the impact bumper cars...... Total - 70,044 That's coupes, cabriolets and targa's but still....... A lot higher number than R32 GT-R's! Bob.
  3. Sure is but check this out....... I bought two of these for $45 ea........... http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/Skyline-GT-R-The-ultimate-Japanese-supercar-/381722355742?hash=item58e06ce81e:g:p-EAAOSwbsBXoBX6 Check out these prices on front an rear screen moulds, paid about $200 each two years ago: https://www.amayama.com/en/search?address=631&q=72750-04U60 https://www.amayama.com/en/search?address=631&q=79750-04U10 Bob.
  4. Things are getting pretty thin on the ground....... Down to only 12 cars available on Carpoint/Carsales.. http://www.carpoint.com.au/all-cars/results.aspx?YearFromShort=1635&SearchAction=N&q=((((((Make%3d[Nissan]{%26}(Model%3d[Skyline]{%26}Badge%3d[GT-R])){|}(Make%3d[Nissan]{%26}(Model%3d[Skyline]{%26}Badge%3d[GT-R+V-Spec]))){|}(Make%3d[Nissan]{%26}(Model%3d[Skyline]{%26}Badge%3d[GT-R+V-Spec+II])))%26(((SiloType%3d[Dealer+used+cars]|SiloType%3d[Brand+new+cars+in+stock])|SiloType%3d[Demo+and+near+new+cars])|SiloType%3d[Private+seller+cars]))%26Service%3d[Carsales])%26Year%3drange[1980..1994])&YearToShort=1665&sortby=LastUpdated Cheers, Bob.
  5. Hi Terry, The last two on the list are well undervalued. You can't get any good decent R32 GT-R (grade 4) for under 2,500,00 yen....... That's about $45,000 all in drive away... That should be the starting point with V-Specs a minimum of $5K above that. Check this one out........ http://www.carpoint.com.au/all-cars/dealer/details.aspx?R=OAG-AD-13122446&Cr=3 Here is was 3 months ago at auction........ http://www.exportcar.jp/en/component/auctstat/?view=auctstatdetail&id=mPdK9efeQIdzuq6 Would owe the dealer A tad over $52K This one is OVER $60K landed, complied and registered. http://www.exportcar.jp/en/component/auctstat/?view=auctstatdetail&id=WouJHvKSlpW0zc Cheers, Bob.
  6. Agreed re Unigroup ........Mark and Yavuz are great..... Google Unigroup.......... And the only potential negative you will find is that they are booked out a week or two in advance for major work. They are highly recommended. Bob.
  7. Just make sure the sensor unit isn't faulty. Water temp sensors, Oil Temp sensors and Oil Pressure sensors ALL PLAY UP! I had EXACTLY the same thing happen with one of my R32's. Swapped out the sensor and it worked perfectly! Cheers, Bob.
  8. Hi Guys, I thought you may find this interesting. As a keen observer of R32 GT-R pricing, I monitor cars for sale on Carpoint/Carsales and look at auction prices in Japan via Export Car’s website........ This car was listed for sale earlier today: http://www.carpoint.com.au/all-cars/dealer/details.aspx?R=OAG-AD-13122446&Cr=3 On face value and on the description by the seller this appears to be a nice reasonably stock car. The lack of front, side and rear badges always concerns me so I thought there is a good chance of repair or at least paint being added to the car. I decided to play detective and search for this car via auction results. So I limited my search to 1994 models with mileage between $55K-$60K. Sure enough what do I find? http://www.exportcar.jp/en/component/auctstat/?view=auctstatdetail&id=4qHAXVFU7rb1mD If you look at the auction report you will see the VIN. If you then look at photo #56 in the sale ad you will see the VIN matches. Bingo! The car would owe the dealer about $29,000 complied but not registered with a selling asking price of $40,888.00, that’s not a bad earn. That said, I have no issue with dealers making a profit but I have issues with accident damaged R graded cars coming to Australia. Can someone confirm this is allowed? My understanding is that these should not be brought in by law? Ta......
  9. Just stick with the original fitment.......... 225/50/16. Cheers, Bob.
  10. Sorry for the delay, These will clean up nicely if you want them. Your for $100.00...... Delivered, registered and insured. Cheers, Bob.
  11. Bugger, forgot all about it. I'll try and post up in the next day or so. Bob.
  12. Hi Guys, As the title says I'm after a good OEM knob. Please note, all the new ones for sale are dark grey R33 versions with the deeper grain finish. I'm after the original black smoother style. Please let me know what you have. Ta......... Bob.
  13. I've got spare stock dumps...... I'll post up a pic tomorrow. Bob.
  14. Welcome.......... If you get stuck, you can email me at [email protected] and I will post them up for you. Cheers, Bob.
  15. OK......... Here are the first of my pics..... Bob.
  16. Yes........... A fantastic afternoon. Thoroughly enjoyed it. Many thanks to Terry, Kristian, Garry and Jack for hosting the event. Bob.
  17. No convincing required, it's a legal option available in all states. Click on Unregistered Vehicle Permit (UVP) http://www.rms.nsw.gov.au/roads/registration/unregistered.html#UnregisteredVehiclePermit(UVP) Bob.
  18. Hey guys, I thought you may find this cool........ I rang NRMA today and asked what can be done to comprehensively insure my Aussie Delivered R32 GT-R for the GT-R festival in 8 days time. It is currently insured with them but on "laid up cover," meaning fire and theft cover only at home as the car is not registered. They granted me comprehensive cover for "special occasions" providing I obtained an unregistered vehicle permit. I got the permit from the RMS yesterday for $23.00. I'm now all set for the festival. Happy days! Driving an R32 GT-R legally with no number plates for 50kms round trip may be interesting! Note the comments in the special conditions section attached. Bob.
  19. Hey Terry, Can I come or is it too late now? Thanks, Bob.
  20. I not long got mine back from the panel shop...... Fixing up crappy Japanese repair work. Great cars, love them to death! Good luck with your search. Bob.
  21. Lucky you don't own a Ferrari...... The car was less than this when new! http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/Ferrari-365-Tool-Kit-Leather-Roll-Bag-Wrenches-Hammer-Pliers-GTS-4-Daytona-GTB-4-/161769119796?hash=item25aa30e034:g:-foAAOSwMmBVrSgc Bob.
