  1. Yep. 4 bolt rear.
  2. Another quick update. I got the car back from the exhaust shop today. I got a 3 inch mandrel bent dump made with a fitting for my wideband sensor. The guy did an excellent job and it was a fair price. The car is a lot quieter (dur) and has lost 3 psi from having the exhaust hooked up. Replacing the stock cat is next on the list. I have a manual boost tee so its all good. I haven't done much driving cos its peak hour so I'll make a little vid later when the missus gets home. Lag. Yes there is lots of it and if I wasn't going to use the rb30 in the shed and eventually a put a 3.4L in it I would have bought a smaller and cheaper turbo. Still even off boost the car goes almost as good as my v6 vt commodore so I'm not complaining. There is almost no boost under 4000rpm. If I flatten it at low rpm I can get some boost down low but not much. At 4000 the car goes ok and at 4500 or so it goes spastic.I'll just make this clear now...In my opinion a gt35r is too big for an rb25det doing street duties. I can live with it tho and it wont be long before that lag drops over 1000rpm with the new motor. I bought a new bolt type clamp for the part of the piping that keeps popping off and it held 16 psi. I will turn it up a little more tonight but I needed to get home and have a rest after work. Its been a long day. Oh btw the wastegate is f**king loud. Its a quiet car then its screaming its head off. I'll be getting a screamer pipe plumbed into the exhaust next week or whenever. Anyway rest now...
  3. Guys I hear your pain. I have driven in all our lovely states and territories and I can tell you now that Perth is the up with the worst cities I have been in. People actually drive like wankers to piss you off. Example; 3 or 4 lanes and people are sitting in every lane going 80 or 90 kph in a 100 zone. They either don't see you coming at 100kph behind them or they don't care and they sure as f**k don't move. Sometimes they actually all slow down together Another example that happens all the time is that some f**ker will be in the right lane in an 80 zone. They are going 50 or 60kph. I overtake on the left and the f**kers will actually speed up to block you. This happened last weekend and the wanker actually went from 50 kph to 100 to stop me getting around him. WTF??? Oh and people pull in front of you with only a meter or 2 gap and one flash of the indicator (if you are lucky) as they finish cutting you off. I had a dude miss me by less than a meter on Saturday and he pulled in front of me with no indicator and he swerved like an idiot too. I honked and when we were at the next lights the fat old mangina just glared at me. On topic now The bus drivers here aren't too bad at all.
  4. There is a massive difference between having no cat and any other mod as far as the law is concerned. You get a huge fine for not running a cat on the street. It is like bringing drugs to Bali. You could do it but when you get caught you get f**ked in the ass.
  5. Yep you are right. I was being slightly sarcastic with my comment before. I guess that's hard to portray online. Nothing wrong with a highflow. I would have done it myself except I am chasing more power. Hey I'm not that far ahead anyway. I only bought my car in March this year. Not having a go at The Mafia but some of the stuff he says to people and the way he comes across sometimes is tactless. I think that conversation on here should be no different than face to face. I guess as long as your not name calling etc then it doesn't really matter what you say or how you come across
  6. Or we could all man up and buy a real turbo ie: something that you can definitely say "That shit aint plastic". I have a profound sense of relief now, knowing that I can boost my turbo to 25psi and beyond and not have it blow to pieces. Instead the worry has turned to the engine blowing itself to pieces when the turbo gets turned up to 25 psi and beyond.....
  7. I agree with you blokes totally about the vic laws. Just because someone has a 500 hp car doesn't mean they will hoon in it. Most cars will break the speed limit and burn rubber. It the drivers discretion entirely what the car does. What can ya do tho? Move to WA if you have to. Only difference here is that you don't get hassled by cops. No doubt you'd get busted for being a hoon but that isn't the point. You'd be surprised what people will do when they are starting to think that they will lose in court and have to pay your lawyers bill. They usually give in. It just takes time and commitment. And make sure you have a legally winable case or you will lose your money and time. A lawyer will tell you if you can win for a fee. At worst you lose a few hundred dollars and fix your own car. Eh what can I say? It sucks to live in vic.
  8. I have 2 r33 stockers at home and I promise you they are not metal.
  9. It was South Australia. There is better stuff to spend that amount of money on than cars.
  10. Once I got offered $3k. I said no way. Five years later and $20k of lawyer fees I got $126k. Gotta keep at em and make em pay. Federal legislation over rides any company/local government policy.
  11. Could be many things. I would firstly look at cranking ms times. What ecu are you using? 10.3:1 is too rich but unless the plugs are getting fouled then it's not the problem.

    Kidders Kruise V2

I ran outside at 6:30 this morning to push my car under cover. I'm in Shelley and there was hail the size of 3 peas stuck together. I couldn't do any cruising anyway cos I still don't have a dump made up yet. Or a bumper for that matter
  13. Ok here is what you do. Use the search function and read up for a few weeks. Then you wont have to ask questions like these. Happy reading.
  14. What pricks.
  15. Ahh yes you are right that there is more than the water temp correction to think of. Acceleration enrichment is rpm dependent so it is not affected by the coolant sensor unless there is a water temp correction involved. The cranking injection times are something to consider also. As you are aware these can be changed according to coolant temp. It is possible, under certain conditions, having the signal at 40 degrees when the engine is at 80 degrees could flood the engine. In regard to cold idle I guess you would have to either disable the aac or put a switch on it. Then it could be a pain in the ass to start or at worse the mixture would be lean under whatever temp the sensor was reading, assuming that you used the coolant temp sensor as an air temp sensor. This could be resolved with the water temp correction.. My cold ign correction is all set to zero. I just don't flog my car when its cold, but you are correct in saying that is has dependency on the coolant sensor input. As far as overheating protection goes you would have to keep an eye on the aftermarket temp gauge. This would not affect the ecu tho. I have altered my cranking ms times from stock. It is 25ms at 10 degrees and 14ms at 50 and 80 degrees. My car does start ok using even as high as 50ms at 80 degrees. Not that I would but it is just an example. I think that it would be worth trying to use the coolant sensor for intake temp, although there is a high likelihood that the car would not end up satisfactory. I personally would try it as I can adjust everything for the swap. I would not recommend it to anyone that cannot do the work themselves and tune their own vehicle. This seems to be one of those mods that is best achieved by using the right equipment in the first place, ie: a suitable ecu.
  16. Man that's good to hear. My earth strap is broken too. I was too lazy to fix it. You should go back to the shop that did the engine and tell them all the trouble you've had with it.
  17. I'll try it and see how it goes. If it doesn't work then I've lost nothing. If it does then no worries. I think I did convert it then the readout wouldn't be that different anyway. Now it reads 70degrees most of the time. I would expect the air temp to read about 40 degrees most of the time. When I flog it then it will get hotter and pull timing. It wont make any difference to cold starting because I would just "zero" the necessary water temp settings. Give us your 2 cents tho mate and put some detail into it. I wasn't having a go Martin, I just thought you didn't understand what I meant
  18. Maybe I didn't explain clearly enough in the last post. The R33 doesn't have an air intake sensor. Even with nistune I would still have to put a sensor in there. What I was saying is that I could add a temp sensor to the intake and feed that signal to the coolant channel in the power fc. Then I could pull timing based on that. I would have to disconnect the coolant sensor from the pfc and run an aftermarket temp gauge to keep an eye on coolant temps.
  19. That's why you have a small turbo for Monday to Friday and a huge turbo for the weekend
  20. As you guys may already know the R33 doesn't have an air intake sensor in the stock computer or the power fc. If I got nistune on a different computer then I could set up the air temp compensation. Another thing I thought of is putting an aftermarket gauge from the coolant sensor and using that to keep an eye on the coolant temp. Then I could run another sensor in the piping and run that to the coolant sensor wire from the ecu. Then I would get a readout at the hand controller of the intake air temp. I could then setup the "coolant temp vs ign timing" in the ecu as it would now be adjusting to the intake air temp and not the coolant temp. I have a air intake sensor in the shed so I might give it a try.
  21. Bloody taxi drivers aye?! Mate I hear ya. That's what you get when you have a car with a little engine. The only thing going for skylines is the turbo. If they were all na then no one would buy them except p platers. I bought v8's and v6's for years cos I didn't like the idea of a little engine. Now that I don't care about response any more I'm happy to have a skyline. It will kick the shit out of almost any car on the road if I want and is calm enough for my grandma to drive off boost. If I ever get another v8 it will have a turbo or two that's for sure. Hey have your cake and eat it too. Get a prius and put a turbo on it...or make a gtr hybrid
  22. If you are bothered about dragging at the lights then you wouldn't be bothered about attracting attention now would you?! Go the 2 stroke power delivery!!!
  23. Yes you are right. I already knew that. I have a power fc that has one map for ignition and one for fuel. I can pull timing from the map vs coolant temp using a datalogit if I like. It is set now so the timing stays the same no matter how hot it runs. If I ever run the engine up to 100 degrees I would set the car up before doing so. I liked your comment on hydraulic lifters earlier We learn something new every day, even me
  24. Nothing too exciting really but what the hell. So I got it up and running. Garrett GT3582r, 6boost manifold, 50mm Turbosmart wastgate, Kando Dynamic braided oil and water lines. I ended up getting a 4 inch to 3 inch silicon reducer and putting the afm in front of the turbo for now. I took it for a little test drive with no dump to check for leaks etc. I'm getting the dump made on Tuesday. I modified the stock "J" pipe so I can use the stock bov and the other fittings on it. There is a slight issue with reversion but I will get that sorted over the next week or so. As far as spool up goes it is not nearly as bad as some people think. I saw 2 psi at 2000rpm and 4 psi at 2500rpm. I have it at gate pressure for now which is 17psi. I saw full boost at about 4500 at just over half throttle. It might be different with the exhaust hooked up tho. There definitely is bugger all under 4000rpm. For normal driving it is fine and I have a nice turbo whine instead of constant bov noise from the stock turbo. Bloody intercooler piping popped off in 4 different locations. After I did one up tighter, a different one popped off. No biggy tho. I just need to file some grip into the ends of the pipes. I haven't floored it yet as the wideband isn't in there and the intercooler pipes kept coming off. Just before the last time I fixed the pipes to bring it back to the shed I drove down the road at about 3 quarter throttle. There was no grip in 2nd coming on boost and 3rd pulls harder than 2nd used to. It briefly spun the tyres in 3rd coming onto boost....then the intercooler pipe came off The wheel are stock for now hence the lack of grip but I have some 6 spoke 19inch lenso's to go on there when I get around to it. I don't drive flat out very often (once quick squirt a day) so stock wheels are ok for now. I'll post a short video next weekend when the dump is on the car. I still have to look at the tune (only 14 knock so far) so once it is all sweet and checked on the dyno I'll make a nice long vid.
  25. Cool thanks man
