What Is Wrong With Adjustable Arms
PT replied to Sydneykid's topic in Suspension, braking, tyres and drivetrain
I know this is a Skyline thread but curious to know on an S15 with use of adjustable poly bushes (eg whiteline) how much adjustment is there to correct rear camber if 2 were used on each side? (is the S series the same as for the R series in Nissans?) Ride height will be ~340mm and don't want to use spherical bearings if I don't need them. and how much extra castor will the same style castor bushes give on the S15? Cheers -

Changing Linear Spring Rates On Coiovers
PT replied to PT's topic in Suspension, braking, tyres and drivetrain
yeah they have 2 way height adjustment so I can alter final ride height independently from the spring perch, hence preload affecting height can be negated. they are a twin tube (Tein) surprisingly despite the helper spring there the main spring has now got 5mm of preload on it by rasing the spring perch 11mm total I'll wait til fitted before cutting the bumpstops in that case. -
if you loosened it too much it may be opening earlier and hence more laggy, I would have though 0.8Bar would be there minimum boost pressure (much like the T518Z I have 0.8Bar minimum)

Changing Linear Spring Rates On Coiovers
PT replied to PT's topic in Suspension, braking, tyres and drivetrain
OK new springs have arrived and I have swapped them over and adjusted preload on them, not fitted to car as it's at the workshop getting other stuff done. Main concern is the coilovers hitting the bump stops due to lighter spring rates. I have done rough calculations to try to offset this, I know it's not "exaclty" like this in real world as other factors occur but... FRONT: factory weight=690kg, divide by two=345kg per side (L and R) 10kg/mm spring will compress ~34mm 8kg/mm spring will compress ~43mm Difference ~9mm, so I have increased preload by 9mm over original set up (I have then taken into account I am using a longer spring too) REAR: factory weight=550kg, therefore ~275kg per side 8kg/mm spring will compress ~34mm 6kg/mm spring will compress ~45mm Difference ~11mm, so have increased preload by 11mm compared to before (BUT I hace a helper spring too 1.9kg/mm with 80mm free length=too hard to factor in) Long winded post yes, plenty of crap figures/numbers yes, but have I gone about this in the right way??? Should or do I need to trim the bump stops, they are 2-3" long -
Jason from greenline.jp supplied me with my OS Giken twin plate rebuild kit (Kit A), was delivered to my door within 7 days of payment/order for just over $800 ($804 or something) I then had the guys at ACS/Extreme machine my flywheel and the mounting surface for the clutch cover for under $80 same day service The twin plate came with a gearbox I bought, and install has been $250 in past, waiting to see what it will be this time as is getting done this week. I would email greenline and tell them the exact model Exedy twin plate you have and see if they can source a genuine rebuild kit for you.

S15 Helical Lsd Into Non-lsd Stagea?
PT replied to chook's topic in Suspension, braking, tyres and drivetrain
best bet is to put the whole S15 HLSD pumpkin into your car (not just the centre) Yes the S15 HLSD has different length output shafts -
Light Wheel Alignment, they are in the city on a side street "near" Repco. I was very impressed with my last wheel alignment there (old car) and will be taking current car there too.

From Tein EDFC manual re error codes/trouble shooting: LCD screen will tell you where the problem is ER=right side EL=left side EE=both sides If an error mark is displayed: 1. The wiring to the motor is disconnected. -Find a damaged or disconnected motor cable and exchange or securely connect it. 2. The connector of the motor cable is not connected securely. -Securely connect the connector wiring Yellow=constant Red=accessory Green=illumination Black=ground don't know if that will help though

Cunching Syncros At High Rpm
PT replied to NYTSKY's topic in Suspension, braking, tyres and drivetrain
the RB25DET boxes have dual synchros 1st-3rd and single synchro 4th-5th, 4th seems to be very common synchro to let go in these boxes. Cost of rebuilding varies greatly depending on what is needed. If you are replacing all bearings and couple of synchros expect to pay just under 1K or up to 1.5K for all new synchros. (plus R&R of box itself) -
New Clutch Or Rebuild Old One?
PT replied to Burgerman's topic in Suspension, braking, tyres and drivetrain
just an update ordered OS Giken Kit A from greenline.jp, paid on the 12/12/06, payment cleared the next day, clutch kit arrived from Japan today 20/12/06! Very impressed, 8 day turn around, just over $800 delivered, now to machine flywheel and deck the mating surface for clutch cover (retain same clucth clearances) -
Changing Linear Spring Rates On Coiovers
PT replied to PT's topic in Suspension, braking, tyres and drivetrain
sweet, thanks salad -
Looking at lowering my spring rates both front/rear by 2kg/mm (manufacturer specifies acceptable range +/- 2kg/mm for my model) Currently have "firm" rates: Front 10kg/mm with free length of 175mm (Stroke 98mm) Rear 8kg/mm with free length of 200mm (Stroke 111mm) Now if I were to change to 8kg front and 6kg rear can I just use the longer rear spring in the front and lower the spring perch to compensate for height difference (final ride height won't matter as have 2 way height adjust). Just wondering if this will cause issues, wouldn't think so as springsare linear in rate. Seeing if I can just buy x1 pair of springs? thanks

manual S14/15 are both R200's with 3.69 ratio, S14=viscous snd S15=Helical, as above the auto's were both 3.9 viscous R200's they use 3x2 pattern drive shafts

you will first need to remove the turbo, depending on how much overlap the flapper has over the wastegate hole will determine if you will need a new flapper. ideally you want 2mm of overlap after you port it, if less than 2mm the flapper may not full seal and you will need to replace it with a larger flapper. (if it doesn't seal you will lose response) you need to remove the exhaust housing off the turbo so you don't get crap left in the housing, remember to smooth the surface on the inside of the exhaust hosuing too. personally I am going to remove my turbo take mine to a turbo shop and pay them to do it for me to solve my boost creep issues

How Much Does A Rb20det/rb25det Gearbox Weigh
PT replied to AHH31's topic in Suspension, braking, tyres and drivetrain
RB25DET ~60kg on the good old bathroom scales (weighed it last week for shipping purposes) -
you are better off saving $$$ for injectors and do the fuel system right the first time. fpr's are just a cheap excuse for inadequate fuel system. if this is on the RB25 look into a couple of sets of S15 injectors (440cc/min side feed), you can pick them up for $200-300 a set

New Clutch Or Rebuild Old One?
PT replied to Burgerman's topic in Suspension, braking, tyres and drivetrain
I am in same position, my TR2CD OS Giken twin has slipped badly, the alloy cover plate is fine though, I will be ordering my OS rebuild "kit A" off greenline within the week (last quote was ~$850 delivered) then just add machine costs and R&R Kit A=x2 clutch discs, pressure plate and the middle plate Kit B= as above plus new cover plate too (was ~$1100) You will need to know what model you have or workout before ordering http://www.otomoto.com.au/osgiken/index.htm -

possibly, but on the front that offset is slightly to high on some applications (clears calipers but proabably foul on coilovers) -
