I'm very keen to be attending as many of these rounds as I can in 2006, can wait to get out there, have some fun, an put my car through its paces!!

Just a few questions though to those in th know:

1: Have all the dates/locations been set for '06'?

2: the cams form i recieved with my membership has heaps of medical questions I cant really answer....Docter...dont really have a set one etc... does that bit have to be filled out?

3: Whats the general cost of most rounds? average fuel used for the day?

4: what class would I be in? Modified RWD??

5: A link to where I can veiw car and personal regulations (CAMS site im guessing)

thanks heaps for any help. Cant wait to display my TEAM WANG sticker proudly!! Gotta get one like on Snowmans rear window!

cheers

Berin

Cost is usually between $100 and $150 per track day. Fuel usually go through a tank or two. If you have semis or aftermarket injectors you'll be in modified RWD, otherwise you're probably in STD RWD... but this may change this year.

1. 95% yes. Just confirmation on the last Sandown due to horse races.

2. It goes into your cams license so they have it if you have an accident. I hope you dont have one but just in case fill it our as best as you can.

3. $110

4. NFI = whats in your car?

5. I'm probably t5oo drunk to understand that queation.

I think the cams card that we got with our membership isn't actually a cams membership, I think it's just proof of your eligibility as you have to be affilated for certain car clubs to be eligable to get your cams stuff... I think so anyway??

Guys - the "CAMS" card you received with your SAU Vic membership is not a CAMS license, they were just used to serve as your SAU membership card. I've been told this year there will be proper SAU membership cards for new members and renewals.

Being a member of SAU Vic entitles you to apply for a CAMS license. The competition license L2NS/L2S form can be downloaded directly from the CAMS website - http://www.cams.com.au/Content.asp?PageID=PaperForms

You post in the CAMS form and once it's processed you will receive the CAMS license card in the mail.

During registration on the day when you attend a clubsprint/track day you will usually be asked to show your CAMS affiliated club membership card, and also your CAMS license card.

Hope this helps :P

I have aftermarket injectors yes....so guess i'd be in modified, was only goin to run street tyres, but if i'll be in that class anyway, may aswell look into semi comps for my 17's.

Thanks for all the info so far!!!

any advice on what semi comp rubber is out there thats affordably good? or where might sell decent second hand ones?

best i find some good brake pads too..

Where can the 06 set calander be viewed? when/where's the first round?

Thats the wrong one! the one you are after should only be $85.

Snowy,

You now need to own a CAMS Manual, and you purchase that at the same time you get the licence. So the cost is likely around $131, as NateR31 indicated.

Berin,

Bridgestone RE55's will do the trick, they're not cheap though.

Will be good to have a few more cars in the RWD modified competitor class, including me B)

Wow...first round is nearing fast, best I download an apply for the L2NS/L2S licence fast. Might have to have a stab at the first few rounds with the old B/stone RE030 road treads unfortunatly, but i'm sure it'll be great fun!!

This will be the first time i've ever tracked a car (had a go at phillip island on an Yamaha R1 on slicks), so dont think i'll be hell fast, but i'll be having a hell good time!!!

round 1 at Calder Park...is there more info on that? what time you have to be there, when it goes till, is there a social get together afterwards?

Each event will have a document (called "Supplementary Regulations") setting out the requirements for the event - what you need, what your car needs, the format of the event, where, when, how, how much.

When the event is "open for entries", get hold of that document and READ it. Everything you need to know will be there.

Word of advice now - the event IS NOT A RACE. So there is no need to go out there and try and set a new outright lap record. If you haven't driven your car on any race track, particularly this race track, then please - TAKE IT EASY. Your car will handle differently than it does on the road, it will work the brakes harder than it does on the road. Take the opportunity to LEARN. There are no sheep stations at stake. You will not get laughed at if you tootle around letting everyone overtake you. You WILL get laughed at if you put the car into the wall at Turn 1 the very first time you get there.

DAMN DAMN DAMN DAMN DAMN DAMN DAMN DAMN DAMN

I just learnt that one of my good mates 21st in on the same night as Calder Park....BUGGER!!

Guess i'll be missing round number 1:(. I'm aware that it's more about having a fun day at the track than serious track positions (times) and that every track is different an neads to be learnt etc....

I dont want to crash my car more than you dont want to see me crash it :).

Thanks for the freindly advise Blind Elk.....It's what I would have done even if it wasnt mentioned. I am a mechanic by trade...so am well aware of the difference on the car track vs street driving does, an have been to many track days, just not driven at them. I'll be there to have a good time an yes...learn more about myself as a driver, how my car behaves, an how to become faster.....whilst being as SAFE AS POSSIBLE!!

shattered i can make it to round one :), more prep time for round two at the Majical Island!!!

    • Hello!  i just finished manual swaping my r34 skyline with a r33 rb20de box(RB71C)box  When the car is running it squeaks crazy loud and it was smoking from the gearbox area. The gearbox is fine it was tested. The clutch slave cylinder seems like it doesn't fully releases the clutch. I want to ask if this noise is from the throw out bearing or could it be the clutch assembly or disk att.xFliq87Gzw6kImKBVqDebXkj0fBqymk0JaYeP3_3SlM.mp4
    • A few small updates since the previous post and lessons. I decided to do a little interior light upgrade on the 110. I quite like the iilumo items, even if they're a bit of a premium over other brands. You'll also note the Stedi Fogs, that will go into the S15 fog lights as I needed to match the bulbs since I got the new ones earlier. I hope they fit as the body is quite a bit longer than your normal bulb.  Annoyingly, I managed to trip the fuse, which normally wouldn't be an issue until I located the fuse. I can't say I've ever come across this. I had lucked out that someone nearby had a spare, but oddly enough Toyota dealerships seem to keep this in stock. I ordered some to keep in my stash and as luck would have it, someone else nearby tripped the same fuse so I passed on the favour.  I also did a little service on the 110 ahead of some additional work coming up. It's been annoying that Goleby's stopped carrying this particular HKS filter for the 110, so now I need to keep them on order from Japan. I also took the opportunity to install a bash plate and number plate riser. The plate riser is such a cheap but nice fix to help really tidy up the car. I'm tempted to now also replace my headlights, on this car. Both items were from Project Aero.    I also needed to replace the rear tyres on the 110, and after trying to get it aligned learnt that I need to replace some bushes in the front end, so that's next.  Closing out this update with a nicer picture as always!
    • Yeah mate, never miss it.
