If track events would include something like for instance the more advanced driver training things, or say even get a group out to that rally experience thing, that sort of stuff would be good. Yes exxy but hey should be cheaper with a group than individual. Then you get the fun of compairing times.

Maybe even have like a 'go kart series' where we over say 3 months or something go to a few of the different gokart tracks round the place. Just ideas.

I go to most events but the skidpan ( zoorst is too loud) and track (cause Im by myself I cant carry tyres, fuel and a tow home is $$$) but if on track days I could get these supports I would consider it as I'm dying to do a few laps, its a finanical thing as well.

Go carting sounds like a sweet idea! Along the motor sport theme, cheap thrills, not thrshing your own car and a level playing feild except for the power to weight ratio to spark some competition. I know K.P.R. has a qualifying and 3 race set up on friday nights at a reasonable price. Never done it but keen

I'd pay for memeber ship if you had private (closed) Drift days/half days at QR. Say like no more then 10 on the track at once, each group of 10 is sorted by skill.

To be honest, anything track related that’s not just playing around like your a nana. Events for dedicated road race cars, and some real club day racing would be of some major interest.

Bring on real racing, we have some great club day racing in the Porsche car club; there is no reason why SAU-QLD can’t have something similar.

Not every one owns street legal lapping cars nor has a desire to sit at a car park for an hour to talk crap :D

Kthanks.

Here, Here, Allthough i don"t mind speaking a little potty mouth now and then there would be plenty of time to chew someones ear off at an event anyway. And personally i'd rather shoot the breeze with the people interested in quality performance. Not how many neons a car has. <_<

I'm with everyone else-

I guess what i'd want to see would be more club orientated events - not just forums ones, where anyone can tag along - NOT that its a bad thing, just that i dont see the point of sau membership at this stage to be honest....., it doesnt seem to give me anything i cant already get from the forums :D . But yeah, i understand that this probably has been tried in the past and had to be extended to non members just to get the number of attendants up. All i can say is that if things get set up, and they're resonably priced AND i dont have other commitments i will make every effort to get involved.

Track days and skidpan I REALLY want. Like R33s2 i wouldn't have any support gear, but i'm prepared to wear that. Track day with some heavy competition between the seirous cars, with some room for newbies to get used to their cars would be ideal in my opinion.

Drag runs would be good too- i want to see what my car can do, but i dont wanna do it infront of a massive audience and ony get 2 runs in one whole session, so somehow a low key event would be best - dunno if that's possible unless someone has their own dragstrip. :D

Ditto the go kart idea - would definatley be involved in that. ;)

Social stuff- yeah valley/city stuff sounds awesome, as does bowling/ skirmish. Also, how about simple things like sunday arvo bbq's in a park somewhere, but sell the food and drinks back to attendants (cheaper for members/ more expensive for non members) as a way to raise a li'l bit of club revenue whilst get to know everyone.

Also what about golf or tennis? or even pool/snooker nights same as bowling? I used to like tennis but got out of it years and years ago (but i've always been crap  ) , and i've been meaning to get on a golf course but i've never even tried it

-just some other options for lazy sundays.... may not be everyones cup of tea but i'm just putting it out there.

Whew! thats about all i can think off the moment.

That would be good, but the thing holding them back would be Cams License.

hmmmm, I voted for the track type events as most of you would prolly expect me to. I couldn't help but notice it is currently leading the votes. . . . . . Why is then Skidpan days tend to take a while to fill and I can rarely muster up any interest from people on here for the track days I attend???? People saying they will attend and actually turning up on the day are two totally different things. . . . . .

I've only ever seen one skidpan day come up and it cost $180 which i didn't have at the time, and turned out some cars never even got to run. Thats the only track type event i've seen, if any are coming up soon feel free to let me know, my cars not the fastest thing but i certainly want to have a go :P

I have attended countless track days over the past 4 years and I always carry all of my own gear there which includes a full set of track rims, 20L of spare fuel, tools, jacks, chairs, food. And the GTR has no tow bar. . . . . or my old GTST. Why do people make out that track days are so hard and there is a 90% chance you are going to kill your car????

Don't need CAMS license to race at QR. Again why are there so many track day experts that I have never seen out there????

Thats fine, I broke my ankle 2 weeks before a skidpan (damn basketball!!) and had to give my spot up, to 'Oz' actually. Everyone can't always make it, I am just saying in my 3yrs of hanging around SAU everyone always want these events, then when one does come available they are hard to fill.. . . . . . its rather disappointing. More of these events would be organised if they were easier to fill.

And it is possible to do the LVMA with a semi-loud exhaust you just can't do the skidpan. I think the LVMA is more fun anyway :P

And you certainly don't need a fast car to enjoy the skidpan, it really doesn't matter at all, you will still have a ball and learn a lot about you and your cars ability.

Hey jason, i'm a newbie on SAU but will definitely be interested in skid pan events and was wondering what sort of deal you had gotten in the past because one of my colleagues with an RB 180SX has gone to learn drift technique. He told me that mt cotton offer what i think he called drift expression sessions on friday nights and sat. mornings for only $80. Which is for a maximum of 12 cars per few hour session

P.S. thanks for seconding my nomination of andrew chapman as a top tuner :P

I have attended a few events at QR and have found this to be the most enjoyable thing I have attended so far, with the track day the drift day and a night at the drags I carried my own tools, wheels, gear and food as well as bringing my brother along to shot pics.

If you are worried about fuel there are 3 gas stations within 10 kms, if you are worried about breaking your car then don't push it over the red line and if you are worried about ppl watching you, don't as they are just like you and are there for a good time as well, not to rag on you if you don't drive like Shumaker.

I have done all the motorsports mentioned and didn't take any "backup."

You just have to feel confident that your car is set up properly.

As to the Skidpan and LVMA, I would pay double for the Skidpan, but I wouldn't want to do the LVMA again as it was too harsh on the tyres for the minimal time on track. While the Skidpan was very easy on the car (except the cleaning required afterward!) It is the best fun I have had in my car so far and as to some cars being too loud to participate, I feel sorry for the GTR's as they come standard too loud, but the rest of us knew there was a chance this would happen and now that we know, a temporary silencer is a small price to pay and you won't go over 3000rpm's anyway! The Skidpan would have to be one of the best teaching methods you could ever do. Sorry for the long post but I want SKIDPAN!!!

    • Wheel alignment immediately. Not "when I get around to it". And further to what Duncan said - you cannot just put camber arms on and shorten them. You will introduce bump steer far in excess of what the car had with stock arms. You need adjustable tension arms and they need to be shortened also. The simplest approach is to shorten them the same % as the stock ones. This will not be correct or optimal, but it will be better than any other guess. The correct way to set the lengths of both arms is to use a properly built/set up bump steer gauge and trial and error the adjustments until you hit the camber you need and want and have minimum bump steer in the range of motion that the wheel is expected to travel. And what Duncan said about toe is also very true. And you cannot change the camber arm without also affecting toe. So when you have adjustable arms on the back of a Skyline, the car either needs to go to a talented wheel aligner (not your local tyre shop dropout), or you need to be able to do this stuff yourself at home. Guess which approach I have taken? I have built my own gear for camber, toe and bump steer measurement and I do all this on the flattest bit of concrete I have, with some shims under the tyres on one side to level the car.
    • Thought I would get some advice from others on this situation.    Relevant info: R33 GTS25t Link G4x ECU Walbro 255LPH w/ OEM FP Relay (No relay mod) Scenario: I accidentally messed up my old AVS S5 (rev.1) at the start of the year and the cars been immobilised. Also the siren BBU has completely failed; so I decided to upgrade it.  I got a newer AVS S5 (rev.2?) installed on Friday. The guy removed the old one and its immobilisers. Tried to start it; the car cranks but doesnt start.  The new one was installed and all the alarm functions seem to be working as they should; still wouldn't start Went to bed; got up on Friday morning and decided to have a look into the no start problem. Found the car completely dead.  Charged the battery; plugged it back in and found the brake lights were stuck on.  Unplugging the brake pedal switch the lights turn off. Plug it back in and theyre stuck on again. I tested the switch (continuity test and resistance); all looks good (0-1kohm).  On talking to AVS; found its because of the rubber stopper on the brake pedal; sure enough the middle of it is missing so have ordered a new one. One of those wear items; which was confusing what was going on However when I try unplugging the STOP Light fuses (under the dash and under the hood) the brake light still stays on. Should those fuses not cut the brake light circuit?  I then checked the ECU; FP Speed Error.  Testing the pump again; I can hear the relay clicking every time I switch it to ON. I unplugged the pump and put the multimeter across the plug. No continuity; im seeing 0.6V (ECU signal?) and when it switches the relay I think its like 20mA or 200mA). Not seeing 12.4V / 7-9A. As far as I know; the Fuel Pump was wired through one of the immobiliser relays on the old alarm.  He pulled some thick gauged harness out with the old alarm wiring; which looks to me like it was to bridge connections into the immobilisers? Before it got immobilised it was running just fine.  Im at a loss to why the FP is getting no voltage; I thought maybe the FP was faulty (even though I havent even done 50km on the new pump) but no voltage at the harness plug.  Questions: Could it be he didnt reconnect the fuel pump when testing it after the old alarm removal (before installing the new alarm)?  Is this a case of bridging to the brake lights instead of the fuel pump circuit? It's a bit beyond me as I dont do a lot with electrical; so have tried my best to diagnose what I think seems to make sense.  Seeking advice if theres for sure an issue with the alarm install to get him back here; or if I do infact, need an auto electrician to diagnose it.
    • Then, shorten them by 1cm, drop the car back down and have a visual look (or even better, use a spirit level across the wheel to see if you have less camber than before. You still want something like 1.5 for road use. Alternatively, if you have adjustable rear ride height (I assume you do if you have extreme camber wear), raise the suspension back to standard height until you can get it all aligned properly. Finally, keep in mind that wear on the inside of the tyre can be for incorrect toe, not just camber
    • I know I have to get a wheel alignment but until then I just need to bring the rear tyres in a bit they're wearing to the belt on the inside and brand new on the outside edge. I did shorten the arms a bit but got it wrong now after a few klms the Slip and VDC lights come on. I'd just like to get it to a point where I can drive for another week or two before getting an alignment. I've had to pay a lot of other stuff recently so doing it myself is my only option
    • You just need a wheel alignment after, so just set them to the same as current and drive to the shop. As there are 2 upper links it may also be worth adding adjustable upper front links at the same time; these reduce bump steer when you move the camber (note that setting those correctly takes a lot longer as you have to recheck the camber at each length of the toe arm, through a range of movement, so you could just ignore that unless the handling becomes unpredictable)
