hey mate, just some questions

how much money do you think (approx) it would take to fix up the brakes and engine and rust and pretty much to get it registered....have you been given any quotes?

is it a column shift or the floor shifter? does it have buckets or a bench.

any chance of some new pics of the car, interior, engine, brakes, rust...pretty much everything!

thanks, gus.

From memory this model was 4 cylinder engine (??)

When you say 'ford single rail LSD in it' do you mean its got a Ford single rail gearbox in place of the original and an LSD ??

Edit: Google is your friend:

Definately a 4 cyl engine and could be either floor shift or column depending on seat configuration.

Thank for the quick reply's, ok ill give you as much info as i can on her.

Its the 4 cylinder model, has a 1500cc with 4 speed floor shifted gearbox. The diff is a 8 1/2 inch borg warner LSD, bit of overkill but will handle 300hp no worries.

Costs to fix her up will vary depending how much work you can do yourself.

Engine rebuild or replacement, disk brakes, fix rust and new carpet, this is the list ive made for myself to be addressed.

I was going to chuck a sr20 in her as the old 1500cc has zero balls.

The rest of the car is in good condition, hoodlining is perfect, rear shocks are new koni's, rear tires are new, paint is still in great nik except for about 5 rust spots which i think was from bad prepping of joins, have the original seats in great nik.

It does need a bit of work, brakes only need a booster fitted to make them good but disks up front would be nice, like most old princes ive seen its had ford drum brakes fitted of and old v8 thats why its got the ford lsd, 14 inch rims instead of 13inch.

Id say it could be as cheap as 5k to 10k to get her fully up and running again with about 20k needed for my planned disk brakes and sr20 powerplant with a full respray.

Ill get some more recent pics today and post them up tonight, if you are keen for a look just let me know.

Thx jason.

no one interested in a early skyline it seems!

Jason - you need to post pics of the car now, not what it did look 6 years ago. In particular of the rust and the interior condition. Based on your description and what I know about rust in cars of this age, it might be worth what your asking for it......but it could also be worth a lot less. I'm in Melbourne, so that also makes things a bit 'hard' for me in terms of assessing the car.

Sorry steve mate ive had troubles getting my hands on a camera, i got 2 photo's of it the other day but the quality is a bit average,we were in the middle of a storm :P

Ive circled the rust, its there but it isnt to bad ill get some more shots during the weekend for you. The car has been sitting for awhile but is stll in pretty good condition, seats are inside my house in perfect nik.

Hoodling is perfect ill get some photo's to show you so just be patient.

Look im keen to get rid of it and not 100% sure what its worth so i am willing to be flexiable with the price.

As of now im looking for 2k to get people a little more interested in it. For that price this car is a bargin, cost me 9k with work to do when i bought it so for 2k its a perfect oldschool project for someone that wants something that is rare as hens teeth.

Ill get some pics up of the whole car over the weekend.

Thx Jason.

    • The real question is, on some of those wild roads they call highways, how many times did a farmer in an old ute from the early 2000s blaze past you over double lines?   Tassie is a wild and really cool place, and after doing a work related road trip there January of 24, I understand why Targa Tasmania is ran there, and is so tough to do well at! We had a brand new Camry Hybrid that handled quite nicely, and thankfully weren't in an old car, because cresting some of those hills in a 100kmh zone for it to suddenly be like "surprise f**kers, this is a recommended 30kmh hard right turn" wouldn't be pretty. We weren't racing the Camry around, but we weren't slouching in the bends either. But my lord those old farmers know their old clapped out utes, and those roads, as they were absolutely hammering it!   You're also super lucky to make it up to Mt Wellingtong this time of year. It's often road closed with snow/ice! Also, I hope you hit up Salamander Road in Hobart for some insanely good food (I highly recommend the dimly lit Irish pub for a Guiness Pie, or even the bangers and mash!!!)   How long did the Ferry take to get across? I want to do a road trip of Tas on my own time, but I get horrifically sea sick, and I don't want me on the Ferry, just the car 😛
    • So far so good, about 30km on it so far and nothing out of sorts yet thankfully
    • Look at @Kinkstaah's thread on the issue.
    • Hmm not really, I'd say its race car life or modified car life when you make 3 or 4 times the power Nissan designed the car for lol.
    • I'll let others with more breakage chime in, but I can't think of anyone who had a problem with the standard centre plate before they had a problem with the standard gears - the plate generally just gets replaced for safety when the gearset is upgraded. As for the gearsets, its not like they are OK at 600Nm and break at 601. Their longevity is a combination of how much torque you are making and how gentle you are on shifts (or not).
