Hi All ..

I have just recently imported my own '96 R33 GTSt.

I have noticed it comes with a factory alarm.

I am making that judgement from the fact that the alarm is not branded in any way and the wiring loom appears to be part of the normal wiring loom behind the dashboard.

I didnt actually know that R33s had a factory alarm option.

This alarm unit appears to also have a antenna, suggesting a keyless entry, but I dont have the remote.

Can anyone tell me if they have the same? Does the factory alarm come with a keyless entry remote?

Also, what security does the alarm offer? Does it immobilise the car aswell?

Thanks, Steven

I have keyless entry on mine, key comes with a lock and unlock button, problem is the keys to replace will cost you approx $500 from nissan..

I think there was a remote alarm unit, problem is you'll need to a) get the part no. for the key and B) get nissan to get one in for you..

get someone to look at nissan FAST.. or maybe contact a nissan guys there and they should be able to help you out - just go to the spare parts guys..

as for how well it works.. nfi..

Im currently importing an almost stock R33 series 2 and mine has keyless entry aswell. No mention of there being an alarm system though. I plan to throw a mongoose system in it, i wonder if that will take over the keyless entry feature?

yup nissan did bring out a factory alarm system.. with keyless entry... great alarm to (read: sarcasm) as it has many well know loopholes to bypass, i would be replacing with a reputable aftermarket system

the alarm is a dealer fit option. I have removed a fair few of them. the best part about these is the factory actuator in the drivers door.

as for it how it works - usually by the missing key fob. the OEM keyless on some of the S2 33s occasionally control it. R32 GTR has a smilar setup in the door as do some of the 33GTRs.

Xizor,

the keyless side of things (OEM) will be disabled (IF I do it.) so the alarm takes over the function.

mine unfortunately allows me to unlock the door with the keyless and open it.. obviously my alarm then proceeds to go off..

the best thing about this is however.. I can leave the turbo-timer going with a 5 mintue countdown.. lock the doors.. run in - grab a coffee. the milk.. whatever.. come back unlock it and drive off!!..

just as long as the cops don't see me..

All you need to do is call Security In Motion they are the Skyline experts and are happy to answer all your questions.  0407106822.

ALL skyline alarms even up to the V35 (R35) have a factory alarm system available but some are installed and some are not none of them meet the minimum Australians anyway and most of them don't even work, your car is an easy target is you have only this alarm

or post here and I'll answer them.

good job on getting listed with Y&C in penrith!

hi chris,

i have a R33 s2 GTS-t and i'm looking getting a mongoose M80G series

alarm/immobiliser, are these any good?

yes. I use these on the brisbane based cars. have a chat to DAN (he has a 34.) and see what he has to say about it. as for the quality of it- great. 5 year wty and lifetime on the labour add to the fact that if I do it only two people will be able to move the car - you and me.

do a search on this alarm and on me. should see a few referrals.

brant aren't in business any more. the units weren't that bad until you tried to disarm it via the over ride. then they were a pain inthe arse.

do you have one currently or are you looking at one.

they still are in business, one of the employees from there bought the stock from the liquidators and connected the old phone number and is running the business from his flat try them out 0297125522. I should Know I used to contract to them they had problems all over the place not only the override I used to spend up to 1 hour at times trying to get better range on the remotes after a brand new install they were crap ( they weren't even Australian Standards approved)

I've got the key fob with remote entry and accidentally set the alarm off the other day (didn't know it had one...) My fob has a spare button that seems to do nothing? Any ideas? I have a lock, unlock, turn interior light on/off button and a blank spare which I thought might be a panic button but does nothing...

Was there ever a remote boot release option?

    • I am yet to see anyone ever regret a quaife or helical. ...other than drifting/skidpan duties. I kind of want to upgrade my factory helical with a Quaife (but really it's not ultimately that different, and is a MASSIVE UNDERTAKING), that's how good the hype is about them, that I want to try them 'just to see'
    • D2 and Ksport are essentially the same thing and basically just generic Taiwanese manufacture. Better than ChinaBay crap, but... not top shelf. Öhlins have got to be some of the best dampers around, so likely to be a good option. It's going to get to the point though where I suggest you buy from Oz. We have at least 2x excellent options here. If I were you though, I'd be talking to KW about doing something for the R33. There's bugger all difference between that and the 32. In GTR land, anyway.
    • KW only offers a set for the R32 GTR. Popular options are D2 racing, Ksport or Öhlins. I have a D2 Racing coilover set, though I don't know for sure which one.
    • Well, the good news is you have more than one very good option for new coilovers in and around your country. Worth the drive over to KW to talk about GTR stuff.
    • Fair enough, I am in no way a tire expert so I'm not familiar with all the terms and conditions. I'll definitely note down the AD09 to potentially try in the future. Rain is not too big of a concern for now as I will probably only drive in the rain when I have to. And considering I still lack experience driving the GTR I'd more than likely take it easy too. I have coilovers in the car but as I barely got to drive so far I never bothered to even check if they are adjustable haha. The suspension is almost entirely old and worn as well so I suppose when I eventually fix that in the future that would make a huge difference.
