Yep i agree with the above, did wonders for my car once it got off the boat... they have a full cut polish and also a middle-of-the -road one which isn't quite so abrasive, i think it's called a "cleaner" or something to remove dirt/grime and oxidised paint. crystal finish somethingorother. ah heck you'll find it!

I think its Eagle one hmmmm trying to think but they do the wet shine tyres and their polish brings my car up like glass - ive also got maguires wet shine but it smudges for me - then again some days i just cant be bothered putting any effort in - its like im only doing this because my car looks gun metal grey when it really should be black. All i can say is what you pay for is what u get and if u can grab hold of armoural wipes for the inside of your car - do so! They are like baby wipes but you go over you vinyl/leather dash and steering wheel etc with them and they really do a good job specially if you car is sitting in sun all day.

Guest KILLER-T

If you have a black car dont even think of cutting the paint work back yourself unless you know what you are doing because it will just end up looking crap full of swirl marks in the sunlight best to let the pros do it but you could try meguiar's scratch-x it works good on black paint and then try some meguiar's gold class wax:uh-huh:

I tried the turtle wax, with the chip stick... The wax itself is colour coded (just get the same shade as your car, e.g. red, blue etc).

It did cover up a 2" scratch on my boot lid and looks less obvious unless you come very close. I may do it again to get another layer for better protection.

Always a good idea to do it once every few months I suppose, but of course not every week.

In my opinion Armourall is rubbish - ie too greasy/slimy, you can always tell if someone has used it. The Meguiars plastic cleaner is better, lasts longer, looks more 'natural' and you wont slide right out of your car.....

Yepp, that's what I use.

The last time I polished the car was about 12 months ago, and it still looks great after a wash.

Hay one thing - has anyone used one of those electric buffer things that you can buy for $40-50 bucks???

Are they any good??

It would make the job sooooo much quicker.

i got one of them buffers the other day lol... i'm gonna use it on my black car tommz, I'll let youse know how it goes...

It was on sale in Marlows from $60 to $20 (with a discount coz my mate owrked there).

I now have to find gold class hard wax by maguiars. I use the liquid one and it works wonders but liquid wax tends to fly off the buffer.

    • After @Kinkstaah debacle, I'd never want to try and get it right 😛
    • The hood lines up with the fenders. The front bar doesn't perfectly line up with the fenders where the wheel arch is. You have to 'squeeze' the front bar 'in' as it wants to naturally flare out and be longer on the sides. There's a few threads where people notice this when they only swap a GTR style bumper and front bar. Unless you have genuine OEM items - you may be better served getting conversion kits. There are GTT bumpers to fit GTR hoods. There are GTR hoods (non genuine) to fit the GTT bracketry. MAY
    • The real question is, on some of those wild roads they call highways, how many times did a farmer in an old ute from the early 2000s blaze past you over double lines?   Tassie is a wild and really cool place, and after doing a work related road trip there January of 24, I understand why Targa Tasmania is ran there, and is so tough to do well at! We had a brand new Camry Hybrid that handled quite nicely, and thankfully weren't in an old car, because cresting some of those hills in a 100kmh zone for it to suddenly be like "surprise f**kers, this is a recommended 30kmh hard right turn" wouldn't be pretty. We weren't racing the Camry around, but we weren't slouching in the bends either. But my lord those old farmers know their old clapped out utes, and those roads, as they were absolutely hammering it!   You're also super lucky to make it up to Mt Wellingtong this time of year. It's often road closed with snow/ice! Also, I hope you hit up Salamander Road in Hobart for some insanely good food (I highly recommend the dimly lit Irish pub for a Guiness Pie, or even the bangers and mash!!!)   How long did the Ferry take to get across? I want to do a road trip of Tas on my own time, but I get horrifically sea sick, and I don't want me on the Ferry, just the car 😛
    • So far so good, about 30km on it so far and nothing out of sorts yet thankfully
