Yep illegal to run an orange if cop believes you had time to stop. Hes well within his rights to book you.

EDIT (aka translation): Illegal run orange cos cop see you stop. Always book you for that.  ;)

but in court u can always argue that "u didnt feel u had enough time to stop safely before the line"

"A red traffic light means stop, green means go and yellow means you must stop if you can safely do so."

hehe, my bad, i was wrong,

but maybe i can argue that i wont be able to stop completely intime.  :P

how the feck did you pass your driving test if you don't know what an ornage light means is what i want to know!  :)

word.

i cannot beleive you needed to see the TRA website to learn that....what the hell did you think it meant? "Im turning orange...nail it so you dont have to stop at the red"

lol.

Hi,

Just thought i would shared my expericenced,

Today, just driving around a busy shopping center. 2 cops on bicycle, I saw, so i drive as normal as i could.

At traffic light, where Right Turn arrow light just turn yellow, I turn anywai, as it is allowed.

Then the cops on the bicyle pulled me over

cop: do u know y i pulled u over?

me: No, I duno, why?

Cop: U duno?

me: I didnt do anything wrong

Cop: U turn right when the light goes red,

Me: I did not, I turn when the light was still amber,

Cop: when the light goes amber, u still have to chance to stop but u didnt, and u turn, then its GREEN on the pedestrian crossing,

Me: as far as i know, as long as u passed the line when the light still yellow, its legally fine.

cop: NOPE, when light goes yelow, if u can stop u have to stop.

argue on and on, then he ask for license and took him 15 mins later to let me go.

i scared he asked me to pop the bonnet as i got POD, and my 3" exahust,

wats the deal with the light?

i mean, is he used that excuse to pull me over? cops are weird,

It must have been a fast push bike to keep up with you and catch you!!!!!!!

Mate that stuff happens all the time (maybe not push bikes cathcing skylines)

I got pulled over onse, and like he said I was doing 80, and I said no, so he sed yes, and I was llike o RLY? and he goes yes rly, but he didn't have any proof, so he said I did 80 and i said no wai, and he said I did 80, but I said I did 60 and he said I did 80 but I said I did 60, and he said o rly? and I said ya rly! so he said no wai! and I said no I was doin 60 not 80, and he said no you were doin 80 not 60, and I was llike o RLY? and he goes yes rly, but he didn't have any proof, so he said I did 80 and i said no wai, and he said I did 80, but I said I did 60 and he said I did 80 but I said I did 60, and he said o rly? and I said ya rly! so he said no wai! and I said no I was doin 60 not 80, and he said no you were doin 80 not 60, and I was llike o RLY? and he goes yes rly, but he didn't have any proof, so he said I did 80 and i said no wai, and he said I did 80, but I said I did 60 and he said I did 80 but I said I did 60, and he said o rly? and I said ya rly! so he said no wai! and I said no I was doin 60 not 80, and he said no you were doin 80 not 60, and I was llike o RLY? and he goes yes rly, but he didn't have any proof, so he said I did 80 and i said no wai, and he said I did 80, but I said I did 60 and he said I did 80 but I said I did 60, and he said o rly? and I said ya rly! so he said no wai! and I said no I was doin 60 not 80, and he said no you were doin 80 not 60, and I was llike o RLY? and he goes yes rly, but he didn't have any proof, so he said I did 80 and i said no wai, and he said I did 80, but I said I did 60 and he said I did 80 but I said I did 60, and he said o rly? and I said ya rly! so he said no wai! and I said no I was doin 60 not 80, and he said no you were doin 80 not 60, and I was llike o RLY? and he goes yes rly, but he didn't have any proof, so he said I did 80 and i said no wai, and he said I did 80, but I said I did 60 and he said I did 80 but I said I did 60, and he said o rly? and I said ya rly! so he said no wai! and I said no I was doin 60 not 80, and he said no you were doin 80 not 60... here's your f**kin ticket and a parking ticket for parking in this zone for an hour to argue with me, kthanxbai. And I was like omg so pwnd.

 LOL

it was a busy shopping center, slow traffics, and he steps in front of my car. No choice,

I can run him over? haha,

where i lived, cops on bicycle is common,

Edited by ZXFIRE

Well if he stepped in front of you and you hit him you could have said 'See? I wouldn't have stopped in time for that yellow light?'

NB: Don't run down cops mmkay? :P

man i can't believe you got pulled over by a cop on a bicycle. did he have like a portable siren? lol. or does he just make the noise like eddie murphy in raw? haha, he must have been puffed after catching up to you to pull you over.

i've been done, 3 points and $300 f**kin ridiculous, light didn't turn orange till i was 3/4 way thru the intersection but the local bitch cop still found it neccesary, me and my mates have racked up so many trivial ridiculous fines from her its not funny. but yeah tried everything to get out of it and nothing....

FUnkey Monkey thats the funniest thing in the thread LOL :D.

In adelaide there are tonnes of cops on bicycles around glenleg and hindley, rundle street. LOL They are cops you can just run away from them now can u. Ya heard of a radio and more cops will be chasing u down ready to ram ur ass with pain.

you see it depends.

if you have already crossed the white line and it turns amber whilst going straight, by the time you stop, you'd be in the middle of the intersection. In this case, I reckon u could keep going and should not get pinned for anything.

but since you were doing a U turn, your speed should of been slow enough to stop relatively quickly. This is iffy and would prolly be up to police discretion.

i think that even if you stop rather than going through it, and you cross the solid white line, you've technically run the red...and if they want to be tight, they'll get you for it.

dont quote me on this, but someone once told me that the dotted lines that divide the lanes, they become solid a certain distance away from the solid line at the intersection...if the light turns amber and you are at the solid lines dividing the lanes, you're allowed to go through and dont have to stop as its probably not safe.. seems logical to me

nah was that black dude from police academy that could make all the cool noises

    • You just need to remove the compressor housing, not the entire turbo. I would not be drilling and tapping anything with the housing still on anyways.
    • So, I put my boat on a boat. First of all, I'm going to come out and say it. Why is Tasmania not considered a holy goal, an apex that all road-legal modified cars go to, to experience? This place is an absolute wonderland of titanic proportions. If people are already getting club runs for once in a lifetime 30 person cruises to Tassy then I've never seemed to see it. It is like someone replaced the entire place with an idyllic wonderland for cars, and all of the people living there with paid actors who are kind, humble, and friendly. Dear god. After doing a lap of almost all of the place I've found that it's a great way to find out all of the little things that the car isn't doing quite right and a great way to figure it all out. All in all, I drove for 4 hours a day for a week and nothing broke. I didn't even need to open the engine bay. This is by all means a great success, but it has left me with a list of things to potentially address. I also now have a 3D printed wheel fitment tool which annoyingly hasn't got any threads in it to actually assemble it. I might be able to tape it together to check the sizing I actually want to use, but it'll likely involving pulling the shocks out to properly measure travel at least at the front, and probably raise the car while I'm at it, at least in the rear. I scraped on quite a few things and I'm not sure how else to go about it. I was taking anything with a bump at what felt like 89 degree angles. And address those 10 other tasks. And wash the car. God damn it is dirty. And somehow, the weather was perfect the entire time - And because I was on the top of Mt Wellington it turns out it was very much about to freeze up there. I did something I typically never do and took some photos up there in what must have been -10 and the foggy felt like suspended ice, rather than mere fog. If you own a car in Australia, you owe it to yourself to do it.
    • Damn that was hilarious, and a bit embarrassing for skylines in general 😂 vintage car life ey. That R33 really stomped. Pretty entertaining stuff
    • Hi, I have a r32 gtr transmission. Does any of you guys have an idea how much power it will hold with the billet center plate and stock gearset? At what power level and use did yours brake with or without billet plate? Thanks, Oystein Lovik
    • Saw this replica police car based on a Mitsubishi Starion XX parked next to a 'police box' (it's literally a box) in Hirohata, Himeji City in Hyogo prefecture the other day. It's owned by Morii-san who is a local Mitsubishi Starion enthusiast. According to a local radio station blog post, he always wanted to make a police car himself based on ones he saw in his favourite Manga comics.  As it's illegal to modify a car to look like a police car and drive on the road, Morii-san tried many times to get permission from Aboshi police station headquarters nearby. They refused initially by after they got tired of that they granted him permission. However, the car can only be displayed on private property and obviously can't be registered as long as the police livery is present. The car was completed at a cost of 1.5 million yen (US$ 10,000) in addition to the car cost. A location was chosen outside Hirohata Police box where the car can easily been seen from the street. Morii-san has two other Starion road cars, both widebody GSR-VRs.
