Ok, upto the stage of my rebuild that involves giving things a bit of a colour infusion.

Bayside Blue's have been done to death on RB26's now... whilst its a good colour and would go perfect with my car... i dont wanna use it.

So, i need ideas for the plenum and rocker covers... bearing in mind that my car is Navy Blue so things like orange/red/yellow really dont work too well with it.

Anyone have any idea what colour should could look at?

Im stuck on this one :(

:sorcerer:

Ash, Ash, Ash...

The colour of your covers should compliment and offset the colour of the car.

Purple Golgo with gold motor looked hawt. A midnight purple cover wouldn't have had the same impact.

Gayside blue wouldn't suit at all - too tonally wrong.

I ask this...

What colour are your calipers or other 'hilight' items on the car?

This would be a good colour to match.

Personally, I'd go with a deep red finish on your calipers and engine (similar to an R34 motor) - will stand out against the navy blue and even look good with the green stripe down the side from when you backed into your neighbour's car ;)

You might have a nice car yet.

I reckon the Champain colour of the NUR spec 34's would look pretty hot

(light gold-almost silver)?

maybe the same mustang red as Al's R33?

or a very light (almost silver) metallic lime sort of colour...?

I'll look around for some colours to post so you know what I'm on about.

Hmm... deep red actually, wouldnt look so bad now i think about it.

Although it wont match with the green rear 1/4 panel for long :D

Im changing brakes this year anyhow to AP's or similar, so for now i wont worry about colour-matching them.

Although some sorta silver has me thinking over it aswell.

Champagne colour, didnt think of that

Gotta decide by the end of the week too as the motor is nearing completion ;)

Crikey Ash, two threads in such a short space of time that are both useful and are longer than 3 words, now I am lost for words!

Depends if the engine is going to be a focal point of the car, i.e the bonnet spending its days lifted at shows and not because the engine has caught fire. If so, use the engine as the base and use the rest of the body to pick details out. For example door strips/door handles/badges the corresponds with the engine. The red in James' pic is very nice and perhaps a shade even similar to Al's GTST. Metallic Morello Cherry is a personal fave but have no examples sadly. :D Look forward to seeing the finished product anyway. ;)

Plan is to have the motor stand out from the engine bay itself.

Im not worried about "un-due" attention at all as the motor is essentially factory so ive got no worries with the law on that one... so it can be a little outlandish and it doesnt matter.

Being the car does attend shows once every so often and ive got some other "things" happening later on to compliment the "show" side of things.

    • That still isn't a lot to go on. I don't have a Y50 Fuga Head Unit wiring diagram. I can say that a lot of nissans of that age shared head unit plugs, so if you are in Australia something like this would probably help: https://aerpro.com/app091# You plug that into the car loom, then either plug the head unit ISO into that (if it has ISO), or you buy and ISO adapter harness that you wire in. Bit of stuffing around, but once you have ISO its easy to change things in future.
    • It is a kunfine Android screen . Does anyone know the wirering diagram of the fuga ??
    • just an update to this, poor man pays twice  Tried sanding down the pulleys but it didnt do the trick. Chucked another second hand alternator in the na car which I got for free off my mate and its fixed the squelling. Must have been unlucky with the bearings.    As for my turbo car, I managed to pick up a cwc rb alternator conversion bracket + LS alternator for 250 off marketplace, looked to be in really good nick. Installed it , started the car and its not charging the battery.... ( Im not good with auto elec stuff so im not sure if this was all I needed to do but I verified such by using a multimeter on the battery when the engine was running and I was only getting 12.2v )   I had to modify the earth strap for the new LS alternator , factory earth strap was a 10mm bolt which did not fit the bolt on the LS alternator which was double the size so I cut it off , went to repco bought some ring terminals that fit, crimped it onto the old earth strap and bolted it up to the alternator , started the car and same issue. Ran like shit and was reading 12.2 at the battery.  For a "plug and play" advertised kit thats not very plug and play but alas.  My question is , am I missing something ? Ive been reading that some people recommend upgrading the stock 80 amp alternator fuse to a 140 amp but I dont see how that would stop the alternator charging especially at idle not under load.  Regardless ive pulled it out and am going to get it bench tested by an auto elec tomorrow but it would be handy to know if ive missed something silly or have done something wrong.
    • My wild guess is that you have popped off an intake pipe....check all of the hoses between the turbo and the throttle for splits or loose clamps.
