Adam 32 i was using this as a guideline to power to weight ratio like steve & Rev 210 pointed out maybe the dyno's/ operators are wrong cause 270 rwhp in a skyline should run at least 110mph or better if it is making this power seeing as the 300TT is heavier yet makes similar power & has run this mph! And refering to this bullshit mate's Zed did run this time there were at least 5 or 6 members from www.drivelinechatter.com @ willowbank plus 5 or 6 of us from Roma that witnessed the runs of TTZ32 & from memory he provided the timeslips on the forum as proof! Just because your mates ZXTT with a millonbucks spent on it is slow doesn't mean that someone else who has spent approx$2000 can't equal him! Subzero even ran a high 12 from memory with a R33 with similar mods to TTZ32 so there is the proof that it is possible! Actually while on the subject TTZ32 is listed on HPI's drag ladder as well! By the way how fast or slow? is your 32?

I've spoken to a few people about the boost dropping from 12psi to 9psi when the valve timing kicks in and they are suggesting possible boost cut from the stock ecu. Any thoughts? Might have go a power fc sooner than I thought. I was thinking haltech, but I'm starting to get pretty happy with my power output and I think the haltech might be an overkill if I'm chasing say 350hp @ wheels.

rob77,

I don't think it would be boost cut, the dyno reads boost at 20samples/sec and so we would see the spike in the boost if that happened, I can't imagine that it would have suddenly jumped to the boost cut without it being obvious. You'll need to do the dump anyway, and I'm pretty sure this could solve your boost issue aswell.

See'ya:burnout:

Not a boost cut.

Don't use a Haltech on a GTS or you will end up with IGN

problems, I have other shops GTSs in with this often inc

now. Use an ECU with Sequential ING drivers like the power FC

or Wolf Plug ins. People are going to say this is not true

but come down and see their customers cars in my shop.

The wide body R33 of Nicks has been in for many coils

as the E6K cooks them.

We have fitted other ECUs under warranty because of this problem and only sell Haltechs on demand now.

The E11 may have this sorted but at a cost.

its about 270hp. We're not sure why the dyno read that figure, it was a crazy figure considering what was done to the car at the time. A supra also pulled an odd figure too and everyone else on the day seemed to pull normal figures.

Rob, what do you feel would be an estimate of the cars power if not 270rwhp?

Not sure... I havent been in any other cars that have simular horsepower. The 235hp @ sst's dyno seems about right... who knows? Dyno's are best used to see gains after mods I think... going from my last 1/4 mile effort 235hp seems more in tune, but I'm sure I can get well into the 13's now on the right track.

Robs right Dynos are a tool only and as his car went on my dyno

as a total stocky and then with the new Exhaust so it was a good test for all the new work done and recorded a good gain and proved the worth of his outlay,Dynos job done now of to the Plex!

Don't race Dynos.

The yellow R34 GTS at the plex a few weeks ago recorded 13.5s

with robs power( on my Dyno) on huge street tyres.

The Power weight calculator Per4manz turbos have claims 13.3

should have been possible but slicks would have it on the money.

George Kontorinis Toyota made 522rwhp (3200lbs) and the

calculator claimed 9.16 and the car ran 9.2 and Miss P iggys

rail ran 8.88@148mph with 290rwhp and 1300lbs the calc was

spot on, lots of other cars to have been run this way so i feel

confedent in my readings but still recommend track testing.

13.3 1/4 mile hey... hmmm. I feel confident I can run at least a mid 13, maybe 13.7... dunno about the 13.3 :) See how I go on the 15th :( Who else is going to the drags then, should be a good time to go as the track is meant to be fully prep'd, meaning for some quick times. Munro was going to try and bring his GTR from adelaide, but I havent heard how its going lately at last mention he couldnt make it as the plex wouldnt offer any discounts for us to see a 9 second car :D

I might have to use a dyno shortly to do a quick setup of the S-afc II before the drag wars thing. I am going over seas and get back only just in time for the event and thus far I have had no chance to properly sort the new timing and fuel settings after the Cam gear install.

And sorry to rob for hijacking & talking BS! But as i said in my earlier posts, i was just using a car that i know its weight as it has been on a weighbridge, i was at Cramers dyno in Toowoomba when it got dynoed & i was there the night it ran the 12sec 1/4 times!

mod: i sent u a pm on how to post a link

    • I can see between the water jacket and cyl 3 there wasn't a hard line of combustion gas. It certainly appears that the issue is coming from there. Yes, checked the tension. All at 100ft lbs where I set them 5 years ago. These blocks can crack but generally when they have been over bored. Mine is only 0.5mm oversize at 89.5mm. They break between cylinders around the 91mm mark. No sign of that with mine. My gut feeling is the head gasket lifted a while back when the studs stretched and i bandaided it by retorquing the studs. It's finally let go.

    • So, version 4 intake is on its way I was looking at these a while ago but at around $200 or more it was a little pricey for something that might not work, but, I had it in my watch list, but, I got a message saying it was on special, and I had a code thingie to use, it eventually came in at $120 delivered, so BAM, BUY NOW.....LOL I'll need to have a look when it arrives but I feel it will "look" better than what I currently have, as it comes with a PCV fitting, so I will be able to get rid of the alloy pipe that goes to the throttle body with the PCV fitting  Well, that's what the voices in my head are telling me  Oh, and this happened today Yeap, it was a Trojan, and it was cheap, so I headed back to the hardware store and actually spent a little bit more on a heavy duty,  one that was actually recommended by a plumber mate, a Cyclone one with a fibreglass handle that is actually rated for clay The broken shovel will eventually be "modified" into a short handle shovel
