nasty shit, stan.. :)

that's y i never go to shopping centres in my car or leave my car anywhere... ever.

Ditto.. I was so sketchy even leaving my car at Epping Hotel the other night, I even walked out to check it every 30 mins!

Its such a shame that we have to go to these extremes because of a heartless bastards who cant earn their own buck doing something legitimate :(

i couldnt do that..

i used to leave my car in that coles car park during the day cos i worked in the next building, but even then i was a little worried.

at night, no way. there are too many wankers around. :)

edit: prob not appropriate for on here..

everyone seems to be getting a little heated in this.. in the end it's better to let the police sort it out (or not, which I doubt they will).. as soon as people take it into their own hands, your held accountable, can be charged for assault so on and so forth..

anyways - have you heard anything back from the police??.. Are you able to get video footage, or do they only hand it over to the police?

Out of interest - if you gave a statement and everything.. posted at 9:30pm.. what time did it happen..

during the arvo i'm guessing - how could no one see this happening? or Hear it for that matter.. shattering glass is pretty loud.. and those carparks (if anything like chatty) are pretty bloody busy?..

Thanks for your input Links.

Incident occurred between 1pm and 3pm.

I have been in contact with Westfield Mall Management this morning and they are accepting no responsibility. I am looking into this further as I type.

That's such crap.. I don't understand why they have security if they don't do anything or take any responsibility for peoples cars while they are parked in their carparks.. They obviously don't give much of a crap do they.. guess it happens a fair bit there..

OK

I have asked Westfields if they in fact contacted the police when the incident was reported by Xinhua. Westfield rep very quickly said that yes, Constable Austin from Cronulla Police Station took care of it.

I called up Cronulla Police Station to find out more information - only to discover that Constable Austin was the Forensics Officer who attended the scene when I reported it to management.

I personally feel that Westfields has failed its customers by not bothering to report anything. If guards were sent to the scene, what where they thinking? Oh, just another smashed up Skyline, oh well...?

And to think I spent so much money there that day as well, last time I will ever be going back there - EVER!

Dammit Stan, that sucks :(

Sorry to hear about your bad luck... But please don't be one to perpetuate our Americanised society of "there will always be someone to blame/sue"

It isn't Westfield's fault that your car got broken into. They shouldn't be sued over it.

I hear what you're saying Merli and you are right... I'm just taking my time to get over this "shock" phase.

Just never thought it'd happen :O

Anyways, as I said before, problem is here - now for the fix.

Its interesting, they have cameras at all the entrances and exits, but NOT ONE actually looking at the carpark.............

They also have plenty of security guards wandering around inside most of the time - it wouldnt be hard for one of them to take a walk/smoko through the carpark at random intervals.............

If theres anything i can do to help Stan just let me know

stan sorry to hear of the incidence man, but yeah like the others said cheer on the fact that the car wasnt taken.

my mate used to park his "done-up" FTO there all the time right up the top as he used to work at VodaFone... all day it would sit there and nothing has ever happened to it... he didnt even have an alarm, immobiliser or a club-lock.

inside-job?

I think that the simple reason that they dont have cameras in the whole carpark is that it would be an IMMENSELY expensive excercise to cover every space in the carpark. Think about the vast expanse and the number of levels in any shopping centre. It's just not feasible to install CCTV in carparks considering that if a car is stolen, it is going to have to go past the camera at the exit of the carpark, at which time, the person who is stealing the car smiles into the camera on the way out! This obviously doesnt help the break/enter side of things, but you can sort of understand where they are coming from by not installing cameras everywhere...

Notice how nothing other than personals were taken, darko. It's random crack heads.

So sorry to hear about this stan.Hope you get it all sorted. If this theif was a local which he/she probably is then i would try the pawn shops arround the area. You know the police wont look for anything.Catching people in done up cars is what their all about. Not the real criminals.

You know the Theif/s who did this might have priors. And what i dont get is that the police know this and they CBF doing anything about it.

Seriously if they were going to take it seriously then they would have chased up the suveilance tape for you at the very least.

When i was living with an ex a while back.My swift GTI was broken into. They stole about $800 in cds,1 week old jacket $100,Arnettes $150,1 month old sony explode head unit and 6x9's $500.Not to mention the driver side window they smashed which i had to replace. At the time i wasnt insured so it hit me really hard as well.

So when the police came to take a report all they could do was take down my particulars, the items stolen and then said that there was nothing they could do unless the items turned up.In which case they would contact me.That was in 2000.

I feel for you

    • Yeah I also looked at Plazmaman, but, it ended up alot  cheaper getting black ones through EFI when you also added in the delivery cost
    • Nice shot! They look super clean. The roof rack delete on the black one is interesting. Would like to see more pictures from different angles. It's subtle but could make quite a difference to how the car looks in profile.
