R34GTR standard Turbo is C100/GT25, Compresor is A/R0.53, Turbine A/R is 0.48. R34GTR N1 Turbo is C106/GT25, Compresor A/R is 0.60, Turbine A/R is 0.64.

there is actually more to that also. there are not just one set of r34n1's

i think a larger set than mentioned. which is actually bigger then hks 25/30's

Well i've read that they are ball bearing turbos as well yeah...anyone else also running 34GTR n1 turbos care to share abt at wot rpm does their boost really start to hit? And who's running 3" or 3.5" exhausts, any insight on the difference? Cuz im thinking of moving down from 3.5" to 3" cat-back.

Well i was thinking of downsizing cuz my exhaust is way too loud, i'm running mines stainless dumps, titanium split fronts which eventually come into a single 3.5", then a full stainless welded cat-back custom race exhaust. There is no mid muffler after my cat-back and i've also got tomei poncams as well, car just sounds very loud. It's all welded and the only flanges are at the cat.

R34 N1s for all purposes come in two types. both have a .64 rear housing. some have .48 comp, some have .60 comp. dont ask me why or how, but i have seen both with my own eyes and both were ball bearing, both were steel wheel and both were claimed to be R34 N1s.

well i have boost starting at about 2200, and full by say around 3200, but i would think if your running something using afm's it would be a little blunt. i also have not driven for a while so this may not be exact. but the thing is as sharp as a knife very very responsive.

and i am running a veilside exhaust, i think its 3.5 inch. but it flows very very well.

if you want to quiten down an exhaust they are called mufflers. they do wonders. i have three rather large ones and you cant hear much at all.

Well i am running a map sensor instead of afm now cuz of the fcon vpro, i can hear my turbos spooling at 2000++rpm and then power comes really hard at abt 3500 all the way till abt 8000 or more. I'm not too sure which 34 GTR N1 turbos of the 3 im using though, but i also have a OS triple plate and the response is fantastic. Hmmm mufflers...as in put in mufflers after the cat-back? Would any exhaust shop have them? Anyone to recommend a zorst shop in brissy? How much will the mufflers affect the flow? I was told to try using 3" resonators but then it's kindda weird to run 3.5 into 3 and then into 3.5 again?

There are 3 types of BNR34 N1 turbos. AA401, AA402 and AA403. All specificiatios are same, but AA403 is better for others because NISSAN and Garrett modified it.

Yep - I have the AA403s on my R32 (with the .48 housing)

definitely N1's (I asked Nissan b4 I bought them)

definitely have steel wheels

definitely have ball bearing (keep rolling for a full 60 secs after I turn the car off )

come on boost @ about 3.5K rpm (I see 11psi by that stage)

I have split HKS style dumps feeding into full (cat-less) 3" system, and I see ~300awkw @ 1.2bar without poncams

They still have PLENTY of potential to go, I've herd of some guys pushing these to 22psi – but that may be the .60 housings

I still have the std 440cc injectors – which is limiting my output

well the computer is a great start. tho tuning for hks in brissy may be a problem..

i'm also unsure of which ones i actually run. i havnt had the chance to look recently i hope the larger set tho.

i think you can fit 3 fairly large mufflers under there. if you can get some decent high flow ones they would be great. 3.5 is a good size or 3 1/4

what exhaust is on there ar the moment?

    • HFM BM57 has a "bad" knee point, IIRC. It's not the same thing as the later R chassis MC.
    • The ATTESSA is functionally identical to R34; there were a bunch of JDM models that continued ATTESSA including Fuga/Q70, Skyline/Q50, Cima etc as an option. All with Auto only and I think mostly for snow regions. AFAIK there were no AWD VR30DDTT sold in Australia - it is on my to do list to check regs for racing a LHD car in Targa/ATR/AASA/CAMS events because if I can get the auto to work it would be interesting to run a 4wd car The Ecuteck TCM tuning is the same model as their ECU tuning, they already have it for R35 and Dose's favourite, BMW. You buy "points" to allow your computer to be tuned, buy either a bluetooth (phone app) or bluetooth+USB+Key (phone and PC) dongle, and pay for a tune that will be locked to your tuner ( ). You can also access the tuning software yourself but 1. it is mega expensive and 2. these computers have a billion parameters that intersect, so how could you ever spend enough time on it to get a decent result.
    • Or, is it a case of what it is like owning an R series Skyline? NFI what the previous owner has done or fiddled with... Ha ha ha After reading through this thread, I went on a bit of a research about the Q50/Q60. Now I'm quite intrigued by them! Is the AWD in them more like a WRX where it's always AWD, or is it more like the ATTESSA in the GTRs? By the sound of this TCU tuning, this sounds like a case of someone has made some real software for it, and you just need the right piece of hardware, and then you license that specific vehicle/TCU. Or is this a case of the software will be really expensive so only a few tuners have it, and you still have to pay a license per vehicle?
    • By popular demand.. it was a coil. Got my hands on 1 new OEM coil, replaced with the one that made the less noise difference when I unplugged it while the car was running and started the car up. No stutter and the engine light was gone. I guess I’ll buy the other 5 they have lol
    • No, code 21 is very straightforward. It can only be the things described in that diagnostic flow. In fact it has no way of knowing that the spark plug resistance is out of spec.
