Well just got back from Fi's cousins wedding which I had a great time at to find that my car has been broken into, passenger side window smashed all my gauges gone and my SAFC II. I am going down to have a proper look and clean it up but I am f**king pissed off. This is about the 5 or 6th break in about 4 weeks in this complex I had nothing visible in the car other than obviously the gauges and safc... they didn’t take the stereo or anything else, probably good I had the head deck out... anyways if anyone see's or hears of anything please ring pm me

It's a blue screen SAFC II with an Apexi stand.

The guages are all autometer carbon fibre ones

Yup reported it to the police straight away they were not much help at all. They took the details down but basically said it happens and that they were not going to send anyone out to look at it. I can sort of understand this as it would happen fairly often but still it doesnt help my case... So all they are helpful for in this case is when my insurance agency talks with the police. Still working out if its worth making a claim i will have to work out how much my premium will go up + the excess is not small :)... maybe i just repair the window, sell the car and get a shit box till i buy a house and have a proper garage...

hmmmm i wonder if the police say this to every car theift victim, or do they go indepth with the first ones and eventually get to the latter ones?

yea it's a security car park (swipe cardD) but there are about 90 - 100 car parks due to them combining the two adjacent appartments + people have multiple spares which they could just give to anyone if they wanted and no body would know :)

It's annoying but i guess shit happens can't win em all :D

man, when this shit happens when youve gotta alarm installed makes me sketchy about mine,, . I'm getting an alarm installed tomorrow. but if theifs these days dont care about them ,, they kinda seem pointless to have after hearing a story like this..

they need to make alarms which phsically harm those who enter your car..

leigh i was shocked when i read inside here that ppl broke into your car, karma comes around mate. bad thing about something like this, is that it's obviously somebody who lives in the complex, or a friend of that somebody.

Yeah it would be somebody who has seen the car before , i keep a ear out for any cheap parts. This shit is F**ked why cant people just keep there hands off other peoples skylines

Bad luck there, shit happens and unfortunately the local police don't seem to want to do anything about petty crimes anymore. I've heard too many stories like this lately, and it seems that it's only going to get worse if the police and Government get their shit together and do something about it. We're going to end up like Sydney the way we are going.

damn i missed your post sin :)

cheers for the words guys yes it is very annoying but i wont bag my alarm as it clearly worked as they must of got in and out bloody quick. The alarm was still in one piece though from what i can see.

After thinking about it more and looking at how it was done i dont think they were trying to steal the car in the first place... they were just after some parts which they will probably be able to flog off quickly and easily. The only good thing i can say about whoever did it is that they were clean about it (other than the window) all the wiring has just been cut right up near the top of the stolen items so they didnt rip it out or anything which is good as they didnt really damage anything else in the process.

Anyways i am ringing around for quotes this morning to find out if it's worth putting a claim in stupid high excess  anyone have any mates in the glass industry lol

cops dont do shit for car break ins.

gfs car got broken into, they took name, rego, parts stolen and chased her up about the damn TITLES of the CDs stolen for a week. WTF? go catch criminals not ring constantly asking exactly what cds were taken!

another mates S13 got nicked (the whole car) and he found it luckily a few streets away but they wouldnt come out for that until he footstamped and threatened until the did.

cops are useless unless your dead. then they seem to take notice.

I agree with low200 the cops are hopeless or just dont care , I had 2 cars stolen and both times they said I done it and it was a crime to make to report a car stolen when it wasn`t. The second time was in Queanbeyan , the cop after making me wait for 4hrs said he wouldn`t do a stolen car report as he didn`t think the car was stolen , I went off my head and told him to do his job and it was MY car and i wanted a stolen car report done , he than was going to arrest me but could tell me what for he was just gunna, then after all that the cop told me that if i didn`t mind not to put a report as it made the Queanbeyan police station yearly report look better if it didn`t have as many stolen cars.

    • Yeah, that's fine**. But the numbers you came up with are just wrong. Try it for yourself. Put in any voltage from the possible range and see what result you get. You get nonsense. ** When I say "fine", I mean, it's still shit. The very simple linear formula (slope & intercept) is shit for a sensor with a non-linear response. This is the curve, from your data above. Look at the CURVE! It's only really linear between about 30 and 90 °C. And if you used only that range to define a curve, it would be great. But you would go more and more wrong as you went to higher temps. And that is why the slope & intercept found when you use 50 and 150 as the end points is so bad halfway between those points. The real curve is a long way below the linear curve which just zips straight between the end points, like this one. You could probably use the same slope and a lower intercept, to move that straight line down, and spread the error out. But you would 5-10°C off in a lot of places. You'd need to say what temperature range you really wanted to be most right - say, 100 to 130, and plop the line closest to teh real curve in that region, which would make it quite wrong down at the lower temperatures. Let me just say that HPTuners are not being realistic in only allowing for a simple linear curve.
    • I feel I should re-iterate. The above picture is the only option available in the software and the blurb from HP Tuners I quoted earlier is the only way to add data to it and that's the description they offer as to how to figure it out. The only fields available is the blank box after (Input/ ) and the box right before = Output. Those are the only numbers that can be entered.
    • No, your formula is arse backwards. Mine is totally different to yours, and is the one I said was bang on at 50 and 150. I'll put your data into Excel (actually it already is, chart it and fit a linear fit to it, aiming to make it evenly wrong across the whole span. But not now. Other things to do first.
    • God damnit. The only option I actually have in the software is the one that is screenshotted. I am glad that I at least got it right... for those two points. Would it actually change anything if I chose/used 80C and 120C as the two points instead? My brain wants to imagine the formula put into HPtuners would be the same equation, otherwise none of this makes sense to me, unless: 1) The formula you put into VCM Scanner/HPTuners is always linear 2) The two points/input pairs are only arbitrary to choose (as the documentation implies) IF the actual scaling of the sensor is linear. then 3) If the scaling is not linear, the two points you choose matter a great deal, because the formula will draw a line between those two points only.
    • Nah, that is hella wrong. If I do a simple linear between 150°C (0.407v) and 50°C (2.98v) I get the formula Temperature = -38.8651*voltage + 165.8181 It is perfectly correct at 50 and 150, but it is as much as 20° out in the region of 110°C, because the actual data is significantly non-linear there. It is no more than 4° out down at the lowest temperatures, but is is seriously shit almost everywhere. I cannot believe that the instruction is to do a 2 point linear fit. I would say the method I used previously would have to be better.
