Which ,odrl of Stagea you have? Is it the turbo model? You indurance looks cheap Which city are you in?

RS4 Turbo. Insurance postcode 4272. 40% discount. Maybe its because i really am a 66yo. Havnt had a prang cince i hit a bus the wrong way in a one way st in 1965. Nissans are TOUGH!

I bought my s1 from prestige

all up it cost me 16,000 on the road with insurance

but with all the other bits and pieces added to the car now as it sits it owes me at least 20,000

all i can say is you can't put a price on quality.......

lucky you. cveap insurance costs. Just wondering does anybody knows how they calculate for rego in victoria? Cos im thinking of getting An autech for abt $50k (excld insurance and rego). Thas why i have to find out how much it will costs me. thanks

stamp duty is 4% of the buy price. Give them the FOB car price that will be cheaper stamp duty

1 year rego is $520

RWC will cost you about $500-$1000 i reckon for a fresh import, unless its immaculate (little shit will be broken, like, washers, a bulb here a bulb there.... but it all adds time in labour etc

yes, but the FOB price is what you paid for the car, its unfair for them to include transport costs as "car cost"

What if i had a private ship and i was in japan for a holiday and i brought a car with me, then the shipping "was free" rah rah rah :)

I would argue with me for 1 hour to save $500+, rather then just pay the full ammount from the start.

Will i have to pa the stamp duty if i bought the car already in oz? If i have to its 4% isnt it then how is the rego calculated? how many %? Thanks

Stamp duty has to be paid if bought overseas or locally.

Rego is a fixed annual fee here in Vic, stampy duty is a once off payment for the car when rego is transfered or first taken out by a person on a particaluar car.

Not sure how it is in other states.

yea as alexcim said you quote the price you actually paid for the car

don't include shipping costs your only rippin yourself off there

NSW rta asks for a receipt as proof of purchase price

so I'm guessing it would be the same for other states

ok but if i bought the car thats alreay in oz shipped from japan and complied? That would include the shipping costs, dealers margin ETC.

Should i ask the dealer the price he paid for it (FOB) price? I doubt they are goona to tell me that.

I would guestimate that the car FOB price would be around 35k at max. How do i get around it or im stuffed?

ok so if your buying the car already in oz and complied the whole deal

then it simply goes by what you pay the dealer for the car.

if you were importing the car yourself you would have saved a packet

but because its obviously already here i don't see anyway around that.

obviously what you pay the dealer is it. please someone correct me if i'm wrong, but that is my understanding of it.

its the same deal as if you bought an aussie car already owned by 30 odd people it goes by the actual purchase price of the car. wether it be from a car yard or private sale it goes by actual purchase price...

but please if i'm wrong correct me..

Look up the Prestige Motorsport site and click on "cost calculator"

The $616 I paid was for 6 months rego plus stamp duty but i dont have a breakdown of costs.

We're a bit luckier for Stagea prices in NZ, mine was $8000 which included $500 to ship across the country to me, it came with 6months wof and reg. Insurance $600 for full, I'm over 25, but only about 35% no claims bonus. Car is in good condition, 121kms, which you guys might consider to be on the higher side. RS4 obviously! Loving the leather interior, and I specifically hunted one out with it, hence having to ship it, but well worth it to me. I'll have to take a pic of interior, have many others got leather interior??

Pic of car with EVO7 wheel on front I was considering purchasing, and nasty 15' it came with on back.

Fuel economy a bit painful, 15.5L/100kms towing a boat with 3 in car averaged over 300kms, expected naturally, but not cheap.

thats cheap.

I started this because im thinking about a nice S2, Neo ,Tiptronic

All up with a few extras it will cost 20 grand!

Would like to hear from other nz owners re costs when importing.

NZ has no domestic car production hence the NZ government does not rip everyone off for importing a car, as all cars are imports.

That's is where you will find the savings I think, pay the FOB and the shipping, stick it on the road (maybe not that simple) but pretty close I am guessing... The savings are then passed on during domestic resale as mentioned above.

Want cheap imports, move to NZ!

I am sure some of the NZ guys can come up with the real details and we will all be very sorry we live in the land of a Tax on Tax on a duty + GST!

    • You Gregged a whole racetrack!?
    • Look for broken wire or bad connector at the motor. Might not be it, but is worth starting there, as it is easy.
    • Hi everyone, I’m having an issue with my R32 GT-R. Sometimes, when the car goes over a bump or experiences some vibration, the 4WD warning light comes on the dashboard. When I check the code from the control unit in the trunk, it shows Code 19 – ETS Motor. However, everything seems to be working fine — if I turn off the engine and restart the car, the light goes away and everything functions normally. Has anyone experienced this before? Where should I start troubleshooting this issue? Thanks in advance!
    • I'm back from the dyno - again! I went looking for someone who knew LS's and had a roller dyno, to see how it shaped up compared to everything else and confirm the powerband really is peaking where Mr Mamo says it should. TLDR: The dyno result I got this time definitely had the shape of how it feels on the road and finally 'makes sense'. Also we had a bit more time to play with timing on the dyno, it turns out the common practice in LS is to lower the timing around peak torque and restore it to max after. So given a car was on the dyno and mostly dialled in already, it was time for tweaking. Luis at APS is definitely knowledgable when it came to this and had overlays ready to go and was happy to share. If you map out your cylinder airmass you start seeing graphs that look a LOT like the engine's torque curve. The good thing also is if you map out your timing curve when you're avoiding knock... this curve very much looks like the inverse of the airmass curve. The result? Well it's another 10.7kw/14hp kw from where I drove it in at. Pretty much everywhere, too. As to how much this car actually makes in Hub Dyno numbers, American Dyno numbers, or Mainline dyno numbers, I say I don't know and it's gone up ~25kw since I started tinkering lol. It IS interesting how the shorter ratio gears I have aren't scaled right on this dyno - 6840RPM is 199KMH, not 175KMH. I have also seen other printouts here with cars with less mods at much higher "kmh" for their RPM due Commodores having 3.45's or longer (!) rear diff ratios maxing out 4th gear which is the 1:1 gear on the T56. Does this matter? No, not really. The real answer is go to the strip and see what it traps, but: I guess I should have gone last Sunday...
