Hi guys, I'm a proud new owner of an r33 gts-t. I've also just moved into Melbourne a few months ago. Just curious on whether it's safe to park my car on the roadside in a suburb of Frankston. I don't have much of a choice but I'd rather let myself know first rather than waking up one day and finding that my car has been thrashed or anything. :)

Hey,

Do you have a garage for your Skyline to sleep at nights? If not, park it on drive way of your home.

And it's risky to park on streets as half of Frankston drivers are bogans and don't give crap or two...

Get loud alarm possible, and club-lock for steering wheel.

Where in Frankston are you?

Cheers

Grant

Frankston's no worse than any other city and a lot better than most. Like most places there's a good side of town and a bad (poor) side of town. As suggested get an alarm + club lock as a visible deterrent and leave no valuables in view and you should have no probs..just like anywhere else.

Being a long term resident on the peninsula and Frankston, I can tell you first hand a lot of Frankston's problems don't stem from it's residents, the majority are caused by dumbasses from surrounding suburbs that don't have their own local clubs/pubs/beaches ect. So yeah fri/sat nights in town can be an eye opener but most residential areas are ok.

In Victoria I've also lived in Cranbourne, Narrewarren and Dandenong and had my home and cars broken into at all addresses. After 11yrs of living in Frankston's sth with no problems what so ever I can't complain, It's a nice place to live, with good infrastructure and nice beaches, It's little wonder we get a few scumbags hanging around on the w/ends.

R33 skylines don't rate a second glance down here (lots around) so I wouldn't be overly concerned.

Oh yeah, Sam Newman enjoys oral sex with small fluffy animals.........I sincerely hate that imbecile, taking his hatred of Brereton out on Frankston is indicative of his limited intellect and sexual prowess, nothing more.

Welcome for starters.

Franston.....wow ok

I would look around for a garage to rent.. ask local real estates they might be able to help

Check out people in you street.. some old timers might not have a car anymore but have a garage or car port.. Knock on there door ya got nothing to loose.... EXEPT YOUR CAR...... worth a try mate..

If you would like to know the official theft rates for any suburb in Australia use this link.

http://www.carsafe.com.au/t_08.html

Just put your details in and it will give you an indication of how many cars are stolen and how much of a risk your car is.

LOL @ all you people bagging out franger without any more of an idea than "my mates mate told me its a bad place"

Its not like that at all these days, its much improved over the last 5 years.

Still not great, but you tell me any other suburb in Melb thats any better.

Everywhere is a risk, its that simple.

Get an alarm, get insurance, and hope it doenst happen to you.

It can happen anywhere, anytime

Risk Assessment

YOUR POSTCODE

With a maximum of only one theft reported each month, the risk of theft in postcode 3792 is low. Vehicles stolen in this postcode are likely to be those at risk of theft because they lack security. If you own one of these vehicles, theft is most likely to occur in car parks or in the street. If you have secure parking at home, such as a garage or lockable gates on your driveway, use it!

That better?

    • So.... the K&N air box thingo was too big, ended up gifting it to a mate, well, by gifting it he actually supplied food and beer at the pub,  which was nice, as it will not sit on a shelf in the garage for the next 10 years I did trim up some of the existing stuff to neaten it all up and gave it some wrinkle paint, unfortunately it currently has a used and abused mish mash of different types of hose clamps, 4 big fat T bolt type (shit), and a few normal clamps of vairing sizes and brands, but..... only until the 6 constant tension black worm clamps that I ordered from EFI solutions turn up next week Currently the current hose clamps are triggering me hard, LOL Is this the final version, probably not, I really want just 2 silicone pieces, a straight bit of silicone from the filter to the MAF is easy and will happen as soon as I head into Just Jap tomorrow, the problematic part is a 30° silicone bend from the MAF to the TB that I can connect the engine breather from the head, I found that there are bulk head fittings for boat bilge pumps that should work, but until I can get a 30° silicone bend the alloy pipe, and the 11ty thousand hose clamps, are there for the foreseeable future 4 hose clamps are golden, 6 are grudgingly acceptable, the 8 currently holding it all together is just taking the piss    I've also ordered 60 more retaining wall blocks for the front yard, I mis-gonculated the height that was required to get above the base of the Photinia's (red robin's) that are the hedge behind the front fence, currently it is 2 blocks high, and about 1/2 a block short, so going 3 blocks high will be above the base of the red robin's, and allow some room for mulch
    • It is the stock air box with the panel filter. Everything else is stock except the exhaust at this point, as I also went back to the cleaned 270cc injectors. I will check the RPM when the IACV is unplugged and report back.
    • As MBS suggested if this is happening when the engine is cold you're going to want to remove the intake air regulator and verify resistance + that the shutter is physically opening and closing. At -20C should be fully open, 20C half open, over 60C fully closed. At 20C should be 70-80 ohms. For AAC valve testing using a Consult cable see if you can raise and lower the idle by commanding more or less AAC duty cycle. Hopefully it's pretty linear as well, shouldn't be like 30% AAC valve is barely idling and 40% is 1500 rpm.
    • Bloody apprentices! 🙄
    • Not sure yet.  Was considering speedtek because it was rated to 800hp, but when I did some research about him I don't think I will go for that🤣 So maybe giken gear set, but I'm afraid it won't be strong enough🙄
