Well well well, I can here the "cha ching" of the cash register from here....looks like Universal have figured a way to sqeeze more money out of Vin and the gang. Considering this movie has nothing at all to do with the last two, nor does it have any cast from the previous two I'd say it's a fair bet it will....SUCK BALLS! About the only good thing I saw in the trailer were the women and the well known Signal R34. Does look like the write off a few of them though! More ricey rockets with Motec exhaust systems and floor pans that drop out when you nawwwwwsss too much.....I can't wait....no really...

Plot - From the producer of the worldwide blockbuster hits "The Fast and the Furious" and its sequel, "2 Fast 2 Furious," comes the latest installment of the adrenaline-inducing series built on speed-"The Fast and the Furious: Tokyo Drift". Set in the sexy and colorful underground world of Japanese drift racing, the newest and fastest customized rides go head-to-head on some of the most perilous courses in the world.

Sean Boswell (Black) is an outsider who attempts to define himself as a hot-headed, underdog street racer. Although racing provides a temporary escape from an unhappy home and the superficial world around him, it has also made Sean unpopular with the local authorities. To avoid jail time, Sean is sent to live with his gruff, estranged father, a career military-man stationed in Tokyo.

Now officially a gaijin (outsider), Sean feels even more shut out in a land of foreign customs and codes of honor. But it doesn't take long for him to find some action when a fellow American buddy, Twinkie (Bow Wow), introduces him to the underground world of drift racing. Sean's simple drag racing gets replaced by a rubber-burning, automotive art form-with an exhilarating balance of speeding and gliding through a heart-stopping course of hairpin turns and switchbacks.

On his first time out drifting, Sean unknowingly takes on D.K., the "Drift King," a local champ with ties to the Japanese crime machine Yakuza. Sean's loss comes at a high price tag when he's forced to work off the debt under the thumb of ex-pat, Han (Kang). Han soon welcomes Sean into this family of misfits and introduces him to the real principles of drifting. But when Sean falls for D.K.'s girlfriend, Neela (newcomer Kelley), an explosive series of events is set into motion, climaxing with an ultimate high stakes face off.

lil bow wow.. hahaha

From DEM FRANCHIZE BOYZ: I think they like me (feat bow wow)

[bow Wow:]

"Im bow weezy prince of the o-town

Just got the wheels clean so im riding slow now

Im in a fast car something like a nascar

If you wanna know how much it cost you should ask pa"

lol

PS so whens the NissanSilvia movie meet? :ban:

if thats the case then why dont you ask these nice people to back off the line so you can go home...

all jokes aside, who here has NOT seen number 1 or 2....as weak and cheesy as they are, people watch them and they make squillions. this 1 will be even lamer than the first 2 by the look of it, but it'll be just as successful I think...and the majority of people on SAU will watch it :ban:

Hello Victorians,

I'm treading carefully on these grounds haha.

I would go see just for the cars. The plot seems a little "hollywood".

Can you imagine the hooning that would follow the movie in the car parks? I remember when F&F came out, it was boosting galore here in Brisbane.

yeah but anyone can blame movies and video games for wankers thinking there in it.

like omg lets ban violent video games coz my son stabbed some other kid. its the video games fault, not my poor parenting thats to blame.

bah.

Yeah, isn't it what made the 34's so ace in the first place? I'm gonna be lapping up the attention from those hot 7-12 year olds....oh hang on.... :P

this plot sounds a bit like the one from The legend of speed i think it was called. It was a japanese movie but i think that it was good because the cars weren't riced up. In fact no stickers at all.

No Vin & no Paul Walker - whats the point of even going??? :)

I can see two 6 packs and a few scotches as a pre-requisite to see this movie...i can also see plenty of reasons in short skirts to see it....but i fear that this movie will be so bad that not even the booz and tale can hide my disgust

    • I've seen similar actually in my situation. You never know what tables are attempted to be used when the car thinks it's -99C or +200C. The fail state is not usually that extreme but you know what I mean - it was in my case though! This is where being able to read all the sensors is useful cause you see this stuff really quickly.
    • The above is very important. However as long as you keep timing relatively low, it's plausible to make your own knock ears and plausible to learn to tune with a modern ECU that can do wideband O2 correction like a boost controller. I mean if you only have one viable road to even drive the car on, learning to tinker to this level may be worth doing given you can't do much else with the car...?
    • I find the fact that the rear plate has to be bent inwards at the rear not so bad: but the front is just awful: It's like come on. (these are my very old, now retired/turned in plates) TBH it is a lot of money to fix a minor issue, the fact I said "I'll never really spend the money on doing this" is why people ended up buying them as a gift for a 'car guy' who can be hard to shop for.. for car guy things.
    • I just bent the ends of my premo plates. It even went through Regency like that after the engine conversion and the inspector (a great bloke!) just squinted his eyes and said "I didn't see that". Plates, and how they look, are just something that have zero importance to me.
    • Yeah, I would have said the same. It makes me suggest that there are other things wrong, such that the ECU is totally unhappy with the broken sensor. The only other thought here is that maybe it is shorted, which might cause a different issue to the typical "disconnected" sensor.
