Well that was a awesome day!! Or should i saw few hours... a little late with arrival, but as they say, better late than never!

First track day for the Ceffie and WOW... she does alright!!

Running about 6 psi thru her just to play it safe since the rebuild and according to Sh@un's hand timing, doing around the 1:32's.

So once i actually turn up the boost to something decent, should hopefully be down in the highn to low 1:20's..... :(

Thanks again, great day and well organised!

Any one else got vids or piccies??

Yeah i am sitting here @ work yawning my head off, drinking the mulitple cups of coffee. Leaving home @ 6am & not getting home till 9:30pm takes its toll!! But worth the excitement

OK - so the story with mine.......

Out in the traffic early i was doing 1.40's, did about 10 laps then came in to adjust the harness and check all was well, it wasnt.

Thanks to fatz who spotted the leaking oil i discovered the dipstick was blown off and there was oil all over that side of the engine bay, so that was a shock after all the prep and "testing" done over the last few days

So after an oil change (Cheers again Richard for the ride and tools) i was ready to have another go, Shauns hand timing was a 1.34 in that session, did 4-5 laps, came back in, it had blown off again.

Im very sure that with decent tyres (at least. i hate understeer) and the ability to use 100% throttle down the straight and a few select sections i can reel off something around 1.27. But ill have to have another go :D

After some attempts at a repair we realised it couldnt be done without changing the recirculating system, and we didnt have pipes/plugs etc, so i let it sit for a while then had a go in that last pit stop race, in which, it ran out of petrol.

The track was magic, and the weather couldnt have been better

Ill be back with semis (i was running worn out cheap road tyres showing belts) and the oil system sorted out

Thanks to everyone for a great day

Benm with the broom, Paul for the organisation and that toolbox, Aaron McG of course, Richard (and mate) for the lift and tools, Shaun for helping out, James for pics, MS and Aaron P for vids.....if i forgot anyone im sorry

Sounds like you still had a good day. sometimes no matter how much you prepare something still goes wrong. let's hope it's nothing serious.

I hope you liked fanging around narellan in the worked diesel truck.. haha i was actually thinking about taking it out there for one of the 5 lappers. i reckon with a good handicap i could make that thing pretty hard to pass anywhere but on the straight lol.

Spencer and I had a top day, in fact in all our race meets and testing etc together it was probably our most trouble free day, even with having just finished re-welding the exhaust the night before, only to nail it going on to the trailer. we used pretty much a whole set of pads, and 3 drums of fuel (plus the tank) and all the adrenilan we had spare. I wish i was out there right now, actually maybe tomorrow cause i need a rest day. driving that car is more addictive than my GTR cause every time i think 1 cool down lap then in, i give it a hit on the straight and then think, damn i just want to hear it down the straight one more time... hell i kept lapping till the track owner radio'd Aaron asking why there was 1 car still out there doing laps at near on 5pm... haha

Ben, if i see you at a another track day, with a working (or even semi working) GTR spectating not driving i will tear up your excuse book, confiscate the keys and take it out myself :D:)

hehe.

Hey guys,

A big thanks for organising this.. realli enjoyed myself although my car wasn't realli prepared for the trashing.

Brakes going soft after 5 laps .. Had to pull out of the 8 lap thingy. Furthermore there is something wrong with the car when i was at the 2 turns before the bridge. I step on the acceletrator but it jus wouldnt go. Had to release and step again a couple of time before it worked. Hmmm .. wonder wats work.

Anyway, learnt alot from the trip and am looking forward for the next one.

Cheers

Jay

problems with power out of the right handers is most likely fuel surge (did you have less that 1/2 tank?). it's quite common. the only easy fix is put more fuel in the tank!

    • Yeh I think i'll message an old contact i had for ages that manages his own tyre shop now.. n tell him what i want n work with him before ordering..  Got this 17x9 +30 Driftteks on 245/45/17 PSR Drag Radials on the rear.. They fit well - for your reference in future - Rear guards  have been lipped in & minimal to non flaring of the rear Gaurds.
    • If only it were that easy! I also needed to remove seats, shocks, brake calipers, send my car through a fence, and use measuring and ended up guessing because I didn't remove seats, shocks and brake calipers. It can be hard sometimes Can be a little more complex than 'just measure' if you want to truly measure the entire wheel through all of it's suspension travel. But if you aren't going for every last mm then yeah, you can check the space you currently have and guesstimate.
    • If you own a car, and it has wheels on it, and you know the offset of those wheels, and you have a measuring device, you have everything you need to work out if other wheels will fit.
    • Will this fit? but they are staggered set - RAYS 57DR SEMI GLOSS BLACK 18x8.5 +37 | 18x9.5 +38 5-114.3 STAGGERED SET   or If no go could just get a set 4's wheels of 18x8.5 +37 5-114.3 - would i run 8.5's 235s up front n 245's at the back if I do?   Thanks.
    • Put a clamp on your return line. I have a feeling it's sucking air, and introducing bubbles to your fuel. With a lot of fuel, less problematic. I'd honestly be redoing all the lines in the tank and clamps on everything.   Also, you've given two different answers to the same question: Asked if being followed by the police you could get down to use the whole tank, you said yes you could, so long as you keep off boost. However, you then followed this up that free revving, it would also cause the issues. I'm doubting free revving is enough to make any noticeable boost on what is likely a decent sized turbo.   So now I have to ask, can you actually drive it lightly and use all the fuel, or does it break up even free revving? Also, have you put a fuel pressure gauge on it? Can you hear the pump change noise at all when you're having this issue?
