Hi All,

Yesterday when I went to pick up my replacement tail lights, I spoke to Wayne at GTAutos, with regards to the x-force exhaust system. It will cost me about $1,400 fitted and is a turbo back 3.5inch system. I tried to do a search to see if there was any reviews on this site regarding that particular model - but couldnt find any. Both wayne and his mechanic, run the system and say it does wonders. It sounds great too. My friend told me that $1,400 can get a good HKS exhaust. Is that true?

My question is, does it really matter what brand the exhaust is? Would something like HKS give out a better power rating? Would the car need a tune or anything if I do end up putting an aftermarket exhaust?

Any advice would be greatly appreciated guys/gals :nyaanyaa:

Thanks in advance

There will be a negligible power difference between X-Force and HKS.

However the exhaust note will be different. Personally I think the X-Force ones sound excessively loud and droney while the JDM branded ones sound better and also quieter.

And no your car won't need a tune after an exhaust system is fitted.

And from http://www.nengun.com -

HKS Hi-Power catback - AU $ 893.97

HKS polished front pipe - AU $ 308.80

and you'll need a dump pipe too

The xforce exhaust is based on the jap versions cept its made in china so its abit cheaper. They'll make pretty much the same power as all the others..

I've got the 3" xforce on mine and it made about 25kw or so.. slap your car on the dyno would ya cause i wana see what you get with the 3.5" please :nyaanyaa:

mines not to loud at all realy... infact when i took the silencer out i was surprised that it didnt evan get much louder.. it sounds pretty cool though i rekon, not as cool as a wrx though :nyaanyaa:

ive got a tanabe cat back, and let me say, tiz quite disapointing noise wise....some people would love the fact taht you get the gain of a 3" exhaust, but the lack of noise upsets me :O

justins xforce sounds tough, so ill be replacing my jap cat back with it shortly :)

1400 is a rip off

xForce Stainless Exhaust System - Skyline R33 GTS-T Price: $950

pay no more than 200$ for fitting

i picked up a mild steel one for 699$ for my old 33

they are louder and more droney than my current trust setup

but they do the job and their cheap .

So Xforce is the closest thing you'll get a skyline sounding like a Wrx? Can anyone who has one record some audio of it? I'm shopping for an exhaust atm as well.

skyline sounding like a wrx? maybe if it dropped a cylinder.

The roar of a skyline is far sexier then an wrx.

Wow, my X-force turbo back cost me $650 fitted myself.

From the cat back they are not any worse from a performance point of view but the big name brand cats and dump pipes are usually (but not always) better.

I would like to replace my dump pipe with a proper CES split dump and "high flow" my current x-force cat. The rest if fine.

Hmm, I checked with x-force themselves, and another exhaust workshop. The RRP for the system is at $1600. The workshop qouted me a price of $1,500 (including fitting). I checked some of the online stores, but none of them have the turbo back system - they all have cat-back and then I will have to spend extra on the other items like the dump pipe etc. All in all, it comes to over $1200.

Anywhere else I can check around melbourne?

i see that ebay one has had the resonator cut out. wonder how much louder that would make it. i got the same setup but have the resonator in.

to get it sounding a bit different get an oval muffler, like a jasma or a lukey and take out the center resonator. a guy in town has that and it sounds pretty mean. different to most others.

My new K&N Air Filter arrived, I went with an RU-4180 which matched the dimensions of the universal cone filter the car originally had.  The battery had gone flat, while that was charging I tidied up the spaghetti wiring at the bulk head and down the sides of the engine Next job was to swap the stereo The Kenwood harness had the female ISO plugs cut off and the male ISO plugs cut off the adaptor loom and joined with bullet connectors. I couldn't find any suitable replacements locally so took a chance on a pair from AliExpress.  The originals don't use a retaining clip to secure the cup onto the ball fixture, would explain why I struggled for 10-15mins trying to pry off the cups. The ball fixtures unscrew using a 12mm spanner, new ones are the same size. • GT-R clearly the better choice! The 300 is certainly not insaly fast but has a decent amount of poke. Does a nice little drift around the corners with a decent amount of throttle. It's VERY predictable in a slide too.  Feels so progressive! People probably presume there's a 25 year old driving it based on my behaviour this week! 🤣
    • Yeah Jap import. Fairlady Z then! I'm a bit the same.  They've been on my radar for a fair while but then just impulsively decided to buy one!  Was going to just buy an NA and add turbos to it later but decided to save the f'ing around and just buy the turbo version.
    • Thanks mate, well done to you too! Yeah not looking forward to doing any major work to it!
