Hi Guys,

I am almost ready to do my turbo conversion on my R32 GTR, but there are a few things left that i have to get first. One of these things is some new O2 sensors. I picked up some split dump pipes a few weeks ago and they are for an R33 GTR which run O2 sensors with a slightly bigger thread i believe. I have heard that you can get bungs that will allow you to fit the 32 sensors which are slightly smaller in thread size, but since im getting new ones, i dont know if this will be necessary.

So long story short, are the R33 GTR O2 sensors compatible in an R32 GTR??? Is there any other O2 sensors that will work?? (i have heard that the O2 sensors out of an EL Falcon work)

Thanks Guys,

Your help is appreciated!!!!

go to repco or autobarn and get them to look it up in the NGK book. i know they have a listing for R32 and R33 gts-t (i bought one for my r33 gts-t). one of those might be compatible. the r33 gts-t might be the same as r33 gtr, as the same plug does the sr20 motor as well.

you must use bnr32 oxygen sensors for the stock ecu.

they are itanium or some form of unobtainium and must match.

NGK have it on their site, under sensor finder, they list two seperate part numbers for the front and rear 02 sensors, as the plugs are different

R32 GTR Runs "Titania" design plugs, i think the r33's run "Zirconia" style sensors, aka. not compatible, you would have to speak to repco about titania wit the larger thread, not sure on what would be compatible...

if you can get a reducer for the hole, you can get 2x RB30 ones, OTD2F-2B and chop and change the plug on one of them over and the other one will bolt straight in

should say on the plug what they are, OZA... part numbers are the Zirconia ones, OTD... are the Titania ones

Yeah R33 runs Zirconia "OZA395", R32 GTR computer needs "OTD2F" Titania

Ok, thanks for the info guys.

Later down the track i will be running a Power FC. I was wondering if running the FC will allow you to run different O2 sensors, as the same FC is combatible on both 32's and 33's (GTR obviously).

Also, does anyone know where you could find bungs that bring the hole diameter down to the 32 size?? I know the HKS dumps come with them standard.

Thanks

Tony

If your running a PowerFC it doesnt matter as far as i am aware.

Not that ill be running them anyway, just there to plug the hole once the PFC goes in

I guess ill have to grab a stock R33 GTR ECU for the Emissions test though.

As ive got 33GTR Dumps the same as you do :nyaanyaa:

Awesome, thanks for the info mate. I remember talking to my mechanic the other day about that actually, and he said that they hardly even use them once they tune up the Power FC properly, as they can get better efficiency without them.

I am now thinking about just sticking with my standard O2 sensors until i get the FC in!

Oh yeah, my dumps also came with plugs for the O2 sensor holes! So i dont even need old O2 sensors to plug the holes!

    • Hi all,   long time listener, first time caller   i was wondering if anyone can help me identify a transistor on the climate control unit board that decided to fry itself   I've circled it in the attached photo   any help would be appreciated
    • I mean, I got two VASS engineers to refuse to cert my own coilovers stating those very laws. Appendix B makes it pretty clear what it considers 'Variable Suspension' to be. In my lived experience they can't certify something that isn't actually in the list as something that requires certification. In the VASS engineering checklist they have to complete (LS3/NCOP11) and sign on there is nothing there. All the references inside NCOP11 state that if it's variable by the driver that height needs to maintain 100mm while the car is in motion. It states the car is lowered lowering blocks and other types of things are acceptable. Dialling out a shock is about as 'user adjustable' as changing any other suspension component lol. I wanted to have it signed off to dissuade HWP and RWC testers to state the suspension is legal to avoid having this discussion with them. The real problem is that Police and RWC/Pink/Blue slip people will say it needs engineering, and the engineers will state it doesn't need engineering. It is hugely irritating when aforementioned people get all "i know the rules mate feck off" when they don't, and the actual engineers are pleasant as all hell and do know the rules. Cars failing RWC for things that aren't listed in the RWC requirements is another thing here entirely!
    • I don't. I mean, mine's not a GTR, but it is a 32 with a lot of GTR stuff on it. But regardless, I typically buy from local suppliers. Getting stuff from Japan is seldom worth the pain. Buying from RHDJapan usually ends up in the final total of your basket being about double what you thought it would be, after all the bullshit fees and such are added on.
    • The hydrocarbon component of E10 can be shittier, and is in fact, shittier, than that used in normal 91RON fuel. That's because the octane boost provided by the ethanol allows them to use stuff that doesn't make the grade without the help. The 1c/L saving typically available on E10 is going to be massively overridden by the increased consumption caused by the ethanol and the crappier HC (ie the HCs will be less dense, meaning that there will definitely be less energy per unit volume than for more dense HCs). That is one of the reasons why P98 will return better fuel consumption than 91 does, even with the ignition timing completely fixed. There is more energy per unit volume because the HCs used in 98 are higher density than in the lawnmower fuel.
    • No, I'd suggest that that is the checklist for pneumatic/hydraulic adjustable systems. I would say, based on my years of reading and complying with Australian Standards and similar regulations, that the narrow interpretation of Clause 3.2 b would be the preferred/expected/intended one, by the author, and those using the standard. Wishful thinking need not apply.
