I got it of a friend of my parents he has done all the mods as he got the car stock

work was done at a place called charlies at woollongabba

anyone know of this place? am considering taking it back to them for a service and tune

dont go to brisbane turbo and tuning mate(at wollongabba)

had bad experiences with them (so have others i know of)

charlies is ok but there is better tuners out there

try 101 motorsport, matt spry, gavin wood there all good tuners

btw; after talking to allstar tuning at zillmere i couldn't reccomend them either.

also there is mercuary motorsports at newmarket, havn't used them b4 so cant tell u what there like

charlies is good mate i had my gtr dynoed there a while bk, brisbane turbo n tunning is good from all the work they did on my gtst , i wouldnt look at 101 be warned if u go there dodgy mechs !.. gavin woods is good also mecaury motorsports are good had work done thro them hardcores not bad either for custom jobs

For every positive thing said about one tuner. There is always a bad thing said.

Anyways yeah is most certainlly not Erins car... I had a double take but yeah as said the front bar is not cut out...

Also welcome to the forums and nice 33...

errr.... yes, rb26s13... its been done :(

as for my personal experiences with mechanics/workshops, i have found alot of the 'big name' workshops are con-artists who do dodgey work and charge you through the nose for it...

my personal opinions:

Mercury Motorsport - would never use them again, not even for an oil change

Tuned Automotive - probably wouldn't use them again, though they are nice guys and try hard to make you happy.

Allstar Tuning - nice guys, know their skylines, would use them again.

Chapman & Chapman - If you don't own a GTR, or something running an RB26, forget it, they don't want to know you.

Elite Racing Developments - Would use him again :D Excellent guy, goes out of his way to help people out.

hehem...I beg to differ.

I have a lowly R33GTST and took it to Chapmans to have a PFC tuned and they were happy to do so. If it was Andrew you spoke to, I'm not suprised you got the impression that he didn't want your business;

A. I don't think he actually likes "people" all that much, so he comes across as pretty un-approachable

B. He is absoultely flat-out ALL the time

C. He gets so many wanabes in there with NFI that he would get a bit jaded I imagine

so you have to kind of give him the benefit of the doubt.

He is very thorough and doesn't take short cuts or do dodgy work (even if you ask :) ). He actually goes the extra mile for customers (He GAVE me a coil pack loom to fix an issue I was having and never asked for a cent. He spent an entire night driving to northern NSW to break-in a customers engine (that was an RB25 as well)) He charges his regular hourly labour rate for ECU tuning, not some rediculously over-inflated rate like most workshops, and the cars he tunes will have the flattest AFR's you will find anywhere. He doesn't believe in Dyno tuning (which puts a lot of people off (mainly because they want to come away from a workshop saying "I have xxxRWKW"), but how often do you drive your car on the dyno?

I am 100% happy with the work they have done for me, and recommend them to anyone who asks, and I am not one to randomly endorse businesses.

Did you actually have any work done there?

nope, didn't have any work performed by him.

i spoke with them about 2 options - rebuilding my current RB20DET, but with good internals, bigger turbo etc - he refused to do it, said it was a waste of his time.

so i asked him about performing an RB25DET conversion (with a fairly standard rebuild of the replacement RB25DET... just get everything balanced, forged pistons etc) - again, he didn't want to know about it, said that if it wasn't an RB26 he didn't want to know, as it's a waste of time

    • Seat of the pants assessment of the new intake: The car is way less "doughy" when hitting the loud pedal, especially off idle when stopped or in traffic, I did use a cheapo lazer thermal thingo to measure the temp around where the pod filter got its air, it was between 55 - 60°C, in saying this the car was shut off and not moving, so the OEM intake pipe was not supplying any fresh air to where the pod was when the car was at least moving A weird bonus was induction noise on the throttle in the cabin increased a bit,  I was worried that I was actually going to lose some of that induction noise I love so much, outside though, when I got the daughter to do a WOT drive by pass for me, the induction noise has increased alot when on the throttle, not quite ITB doort, but well up there I'm extremely happy with the results and have been exploring the country roads in the region  As for house mods: 1.New front fence is up and is awesome, it really upgraded how the joint looks from the street, and the added security is nice 2. Electricians have replace some interior lights, and with more lighting in the garage, a few new motion detecting lights out the front above the garage, front room, and at the front door, which I have already found heaps helpful coming and going, also now has fancy pants CCTV all round the house The only hold point for power though is the solar and batteries due to supply issues, although this will happen over the next few weeks 3. I have done a heap of landscaping out the front and I'm almost ready to do a new small retaining wall with some nice blocks to replace the brick and cemented in rocks around the raised garden beds cemented in river stone "was the fashion at the time" the house was built. I currently have a pallet of retaining wall blocks and 2 bulka bags of 20mm blue metal to replace the wood chip that is in the raised garden beds around the house 4. I now have 3 big raised garden beds for out the back to grow some vegetables, about 70cm high, 200cm long and 100cm wide 5. My 2 compost bins are already pretty full with brown, green and kitchen waste from the landscaping I'vedone so far, but they will probably take a few months to break down, so anything else that gets chopped, trimmed, and kitchen waste will just start filling the base of the raised garden beds to about 30cm before I start throwing 40cm of good compost, and stuff, for the vegetables to grow in, I'll need a few ton of compost and soil, but the local supplier can sent me bulka bags of the stuff Basically the logs, wood chips and a few strategically placed rocks for drainage, will give the beds some good organic materials down low to break down over time, and they will hold moisture during the warmer months to save the water in my big arse water tank if we don't get alot of rain So, all in all, the car and house mods are going well, and I'm really enjoying being retired, I sleep in too 0700 and slowly plod around inside until I feel like actually doing anything, and only work in the yard for as long as want, which has actually been alot over the last few weeks,  although when you look at it, it seems that not a huge amount of work has been done,  until I look at the before I started the work pics Happy days and good times indeed
    • hahaha yeah. Plan is to get side skirts and probably just rear pods. But going to do them one-by-one. I've got a set that I really like from RHDJapen, but that one isn't shipped to AU. So need to find someone who can get it for me
    • Here's an idea, answer the questions I asked you as they are trying to work out WHY the LSD will be binding up in a straight line.
    • You haven't driven many modern cars then have you? Most of them have sfa steering feel with their stupid electric bullshit steering systems.
