Hey Guys,

I just did an Oil change on my GTR and I have a q. If I put in about 300mls more than I took out, will that cause a problem? Heres the scenario:

Car was only warm when I drained it, I had idled it for a while. I have a remote oil filter + oil cooler on the car so I take a little more oil than standard. I drained it as much as I could and then plugged it back up and filled her up. Then idled again and got just under normal operating temp (maybe 2/3rds up the standard temp guage - my water temp guage had not lifted off 50 degree's) and oil pres. seemed normal. I didn't realise but the bucket thing that I used to drain into had a level on it to show how much oil was taked out and it was on 4L and I put in about 4.3L. Once warm the dipstick reported right on the H level.

Should it be ok? If not, how do I drain only 300mls? (By getting my hands dirty i bet :P )

Any info is muchly appreciated Thanks!

C

It will be fine, if it is on the H level then that is spot on.

Dont forget the oil filter will use a little oil to fill it when it is being replaced.

I actually over fill my oil by about 300mls every time- may help with oil surging I figure.

You will only get problems if you really over fill Her.

Cheers.

No problems at all Christian, all that matters is how much oil is in there now....you might have burned some of the old stuff off anyway.

Hot and cold doesn't matter so much checking oil level, but you should let it stand a minute or 2 after you've turned the motor off so the oil can drain back to the sump
