we(the aussies that is)played well...very proud of the way we play unlike the typical boring defensive game the italians display and are renowned for..

i dont think italy will win the cup, given that they cant even put away a mediocre team like us convincingly, and i hope they get owned by a real super team of the world.

italy didn't beat us, the ref did... :ermm: ah well, that's all part of it i guess.

(oh while i'm on my anti-ref-rant and that red card was crap too!)

Well done Socceroos, well done.

We did well against a Monster Football team and we were still standing strong if it wasn't those stupid REFs but you can't blame them, they've got to suck up to those big Football country as they will have more chances to get invite over for more games. Not to consider the MAFIA will kill them if they don't LOL, j/k.

We've lost but we left a strong mesage to those teams, to those that once thought we weren't going to make it to the second round, that is the next time Australia come back, Australia will kick ass.

oh...here we go

forza azzuri.

well played australia to make it that far.

italy played with 10 men for the second half, and australia failed to take advantage. thats soccer.

the commentator said "australia deserved to go through to the final 8, but instead it's italy"

sorry, but they didnt deserve to go through. if you win, you go through and thats that. its like saying qualifying for the world cup means they deserve to win it.

i expect to be flamed, but bring it on.

like i said, if that was italy Vs X team, i would be going spastic right now, but ive stayed calm because i was a lot more in the middle than if it was any other team....but at the end of the day, italy won, and they deserve to go through.

if australia had gotten a penalty at the end like that, the fans would be going spastic, and not a word about the referee would be said.

it might hurt, but thats how it is.

Forza Azzuri!

Theres no way you can agree that was a penalty, that should of been a red card to the italian knob that dived. The penalty should of gone to australia when italy handballed it in the penalty box, if they didn't handball it, it was going straight in the back of the net via vidukas feet.

I have some footage of Italy training before the match, check it out!

Typical is it? Hand ball in the penalty box. That is not football, specially for a PROFESSIONAL TEAM, what a joke.

should we be expecting another apology from another useless ref perhaps???

italy go thru to next game with a dodgy fall and a dodgy call from a dodgy ref and meanwhile four dodgy teams in seriea get investigated for match fixing...

meh...

Every Game Australia Played not only was the opposition against us but the Ref

Japan 1 Goal Allowed after Japan took out the Keeper (Aus won)

Brazil couldn't get within 1/2 a meter without a foul being called, ref joking and muking around with Brazil and telling Kewell that his World cup has ended (Aus Lost)

Crotia 2 obvious penalties not called, Vaduka tackled and an Handball (Aus Drew)

Italy Handball no penalty! Italian falls and acts gets a Penalty!

What crap score line should really be Aus 1- Italy 0

It shows not only where Australia shafted for the past 10 years with world cup qualifying but also we get shafted through the world cup. FIFA can stick it up their ASS because we got further than they wanted us to go. :)

lol!

I third that

Matterzai was given straight read for something that was a yellow. That brought Italy down to 10men at the start of the second half, they had to take off Luca Toni (there best striker and who had already tested the aussie goals 3-4times and was only a matter of time before he was going to put it in the back of the net) to bring on a defender and fill the void, they then played defensive for a good 25min where australia got no where near there goals, they were to busy fckin around in the midfield and down back. Italy saw the chance so they brought on Iquinta and Totti and went attack again and thus creating a goal. There was clearly a skill difference between the two sides, i admit australia played very well and are a good team but, they had nothing on the in close and long balls the italian team was puttting in. Austrlia had 59% to 41% of the ball in the 2nd half and 1 extra player and still didnt score.

I for one am not that dissapointed Australia lost.

I am however dissapointed that we lost to a bunch of limp wristed panty waisted bunch of masculinity challenged boys of questionable manlyhood, and even more questionable sexuality.

Seriously, Soccer is a fast game, and contact happens. It's like basketball in that way, it's not a contact sport, but put enough men in a small area, all moving at speed, and bodies will bump.

You can ride the bump (like the Australians did) or you can got o water as soon as anyone touches (or comes close enough to touch) you.

It's depressing to see that the top athletes from a country so well represented in Australia's multicultural society act this way. It's further depressing to see Australia labelled 'thugs' because people are falling down all around us. (That's not a shot at Italians, or Italian Australians either, you guys are men, no doubt. But this team does not represent that)

Sadly, this will also add to the bogan element once again flying off the band wagon and labelling it a 'girls sport' because of all the agony a player seems to be in from minimal contact. I've seen netball players take a bump better.

Even worse, AFL is getting a lot of this element into it. IF AFL ever rivals what I saw last night, I'll burn down the AFL HQ.

After all that crap though, Australia should have been able to score with a 1 man advantage for 40 minutes, but hell, relaistically, we're not that great, and we went further than expected.

And I'm spent.

Go Brazil.

LMAO!

I remembered watching Italy played against Chile a while ago, they got so desparated that they deliverately kick the ball into one of the defender hand. Everyone else somehow knew that's what Italy was going to do, they hide their hands behind their back but this poor defender forgot to do it so Italy got a SET UP penalty and won.

Everything was caught on camera just like what happened to Australia. Faked their fall, how desperate.

A team that call themself one of football greatest nations and only WON 1 GOAL to a young, newly formed team from the land of down under OVER A FAKE FALL!

Talk about can't win 10 of their men while we had 11?

Regardless they've won, congratulation. We'll see you again in 2010 in Sth Africa, watch out .

Also if there were an AFL Football world cup, we'd have been a continuous defending champion lol.

I'll post up pics of the italian players' girlfriends and wives if you put up one of your partner :(

Lets all resort to childish name calling...

I see A LOT of people calling Italy out as the only nation that dives....if you're going to target the top teams, cast your thoughts back to 2002 korea/japan...or did you not see the ball hit rivaldo in the thighs, as he went down holding his face like he had just received a hook from mike tyson

its getting reeaaaaaall sad now...but keep it all coming...its highly amusing.

sheeesh this still going?

people at the end of the day, italy won. just accept that and get over it already.

i noticed some are talking about italian players' sexuality? lol has anyone seen Totti's girlfriend?

italian hottness at its absolute best

as for diving and all, that's football, it's a tactic used by ALL teams not just italy. please guys be a bit just a bit more open minded about the game

Edited by IH8VEE8S

how about some understanding here...

last second a dive and a dodgy call and italy go thru...i am not saying we would have won for sure if it went to extra time but italy with their tired legs and 10 men would have had less chance to win in the next 30 mins. in my opinion!!

we are all upset and emotional by the WAY we lost...and we will whinge as much as we want, if it was the other way around i am sure italians would also do the same...

    • As discussed in the previous post, the bushes in the 110 needed replacing. I took this opportunity to replace the castor bushes, the front lower control arm, lower the car and get the alignment dialled in with new tyres. I took it down to Alignment Motorsports on the GC to get this work done and also get more out of the Shockworks as I felt like I wasn't getting the full use out of them.  To cut a very long story short, it ended up being the case the passenger side castor arm wouldn't accept the brand new bush as the sleeve had worn badly enough to the point you could push the new bush in by hand and completely through. Trying a pair of TRD bushes didn't fix the issue either (I had originally gone with Hardrace bushes). We needed to urgently source another castor arm, and thankfully this was sourced and the guys at the shop worked on my car until 7pm on a Saturday to get everything done. The car rides a lot nicer now with the suspension dialled in properly. Lowered the car a little as well to suit the lower profile front tyres, and just bring the car down generally. Eternally thankful for the guys down at the shop to get the car sorted, we both pulled big favours from our contacts to get it done on the Saturday.  Also plugged in the new Stedi foglights into the S15, and even from a quick test in the garage I'm keen to see how they look out on the road. I had some concerns about the length of the LED body and whether it'd fit in the foglight housing but it's fine.  I've got a small window coming up next month where I'll likely get a little paint work done on the 110 to remove the rear wing, add a boot wing and roof wing, get the side skirt fixed up and colour match the little panel on the tail lights so that I can install some badges that I've kept in storage. I'm also tempted to put in a new pair of headlights on the 110.  Until then, here's some more pictures from Easter this year.
    • I would put a fuel pressure gauge between the filter and the fuel rail, see if it's maintaining good fuel pressure at idle going up to the point when it stalls. Do you see any strange behavior in commanded fuel leading up to the point when it stalls? You might have to start going through the service manual and doing a long list of sensor tests if it's not the fuel system for whatever reason.
    • Hi,  Just joined the forum so I could share my "fix" of this problem. Might be of use to someone. Had the same hunting at idle issue on my V36 with VQ35HR engine after swapping the engine because the original one got overheated.  While changing the engine I made the mistake of cleaning the throttle bodies and tried all the tricks i could find to do a throttle relearn with no luck. Gave in and took it to a shop and they couldn't sort it. Then took it to my local Nissan dealership and they couldn't get it to idle properly. They said I'd need to replace the throttle bodies and the ecu probably costing more than the car is worth. So I had the idea of replacing the carbon I cleaned out with a thin layer of super glue and it's back to normal idle now. Bit rough but saved the car from the wreckers 🤣
    • After my last update, I went ahead with cleaning and restoring the entire fuel system. This included removing the tank and cleaning it with the Beyond Balistics solution, power washing it multiple times, drying it thoroughly, rinsing with IPA, drying again with heat gun and compressed air. Also, cleaning out the lines, fuel rail, and replacing the fuel pump with an OEM-style one. During the cleaning process, I replaced several hoses - including the breather hose on the fuel tank, which turned out to be the cause of the earlier fuel leak. This is what the old fuel filter looked like: Fuel tank before cleaning: Dirty Fuel Tank.mp4   Fuel tank after cleaning (some staining remains): Clean Fuel Tank.mp4 Both the OEM 270cc and new DeatschWerks 550cc injectors were cleaned professionally by a shop. Before reassembling everything, I tested the fuel flow by running the pump output into a container at the fuel filter location - flow looked good. I then fitted the new fuel filter and reassembled the rest of the system. Fuel Flow Test.mp4 Test 1 - 550cc injectors Ran the new fuel pump with its supplied diagonal strainer (different from OEM’s flat strainer) and my 550cc injectors using the same resized-injector map I had successfully used before. At first, it idled roughly and stalled when I applied throttle. Checked the spark plugs and found that they were fouled with carbon (likely from the earlier overly rich running when the injectors were clogged). After cleaning the plugs, the car started fine. However, it would only idle for 30–60 seconds before stalling, and while driving it would feel like a “fuel cut” after a few seconds - though it wouldn’t fully stall. Test 2 – Strainer swap Suspecting the diagonal strainer might not be reaching the tank bottom, I swapped it for the original flat strainer and filled the tank with ~45L of fuel. The issue persisted exactly the same. Test 3 – OEM injectors To eliminate tuning variables, I reinstalled the OEM 270cc injectors and reverted to the original map. Cleaned the spark plugs again just in-case. The stalling and “fuel cut” still remained.   At this stage, I suspect an intermittent power or connection fault at the fuel pump hanger, caused during the cleaning process. This has led me to look into getting Frenchy’s fuel hanger and replacing the unit entirely. TL;DR: Cleaned and restored the fuel system (tank, lines, rail, pump). Tested 550cc injectors with the same resized-injector map as before, but the car stalls at idle and experiences what feels like “fuel cut” after a few seconds of driving. Swapped back to OEM injectors with original map to rule out tuning, but the issue persists. Now suspecting an intermittent power or connection fault at the fuel pump hanger, possibly cause by the cleaning process.
