Even if you don't have the plates, if you've got the colour and series of the Commodore I'd report it to the cops anyway.

Hopefully they can keep an eye out for it, and lean on the f**ker if they ever see him driving past. RBT him, get him to pop the bonnet, etc.....

Glad to hear that you're OK though.

I have reported things like this to the police before and always something is done about it. If you were shaken up enough to report this guy there is a good chance he's done it before and someone else has reported him so the police know exactly who it is already.

Hope you're going to be OK !! Just remember, Sydney has a insane amount of drivers on the road and sooner or later you're bound to come across the occasional idiot. Just avoid them as best you can and let them go on their way. If you're really lucky you'll pass them further down the road after they smash into a tree :D ( I speak from experience on that one ).

Heh, reminds me of the time a battered old ford laser cut in front of me, & over the hill, got over the hill there was the battered old laser, with half of the passenger side scraped onto the side barrier. Driver was lucky he wasn't hurt, just standing next to what was left of his car cursing & kicking the wheels.

Good to know there is justice in the world after all

Ok I have some very good news. I was outside my house tonight in my friends car when this car sped up my street again so we followed him. I think he knew though because we went around a few streets to make it look like we werent following them and they ended up behind us. This time they did not tailgate at all and drove normally so I am now 100% sure it is because I was in a skyline.

Anyway I managed to get the rest of the number plate and so I printed out a statement I made and went down to the local station. I wasn't actually going to but I am very glad I did.

The cop was really nice about it and I explained to her that I drive a skyline and this kind of thing happens all the time and we were talking about that for a bit. To cut it short- she said I had 2 options.

1. They could go and interview the driver and it could end up in court with me against them, but because I park in my driveway that isn't really an option.

2. They will distribute the details to every cop in the region and I call the police every time I see this car.

The lady I spoke to said she was actually going out driving tonight and will keep a lookout for it. She also said if I call them often enough they will set this car up and put an unmarked highway patrol car in the area to get them.

Now I am fairly certain I will be calling the cops every single night because I found out something very interesting.

Basically there is an 18 year old junkie that lives across the road. Tonight a car that looked and sounded very similar to this commodore dropped him off. I am pretty sure it is the same car and if so they are going to get completely screwed over. I know for a fact that he goes out and does drugs every night, he has lost his license and so have most of his friends. I have seen this car drop him off every single night for the past few months but it never occured to me that it was the same car until I saw them half an hour ago.

It may sound a bit extreme but I intend to make sure they lose their license because I really don't feel safe on the road with them around.

Sorry to hear it. Where has all this happened? I've experienced quite a few royal arse holes in the glenfield to campbelltown area which is where i am all the time so if its around there i've probably experienced this *%$*#. Some are just outright wankers and i'd love to follow them and get my own back but if i do anything when in my car they'll be able to remember my plates easy and spot my car later on. Not worth it.

As for the cops, good luck. I had full car description and plates of a vehicle that robbed our house and the cops did nothing! But they were more than happy to book me for fog lights several years ago when i didnt know it was illegal AND it had been raising and was foggy in places. Some are just as bad as the wankers on the streets.

Yeah, the last thing you want to do is start a feud with the neighbours.

Things will escalate if they think you've got the cops to lean on them, and especially if they're f**ked off their nuts on drugs they'll do shit that no reasonable person would ever do because they're not rational.

I mean, we'd arrange a SAU lynch mob to sort the asshole out afterwards, but by then the damage would be done.

Ask the cops if they can keep your report anonymous, and if you PM some other members the details we can call the cops up to rack up his tally of complaints..... :(

And when they ask who reported them, the cops can reply with "a whole bunch of people" instead of just you.

it sucks when people drive badly around you, but amanda i have to say brake testing someone is never going to calm things down. and if he had reacted poorly and run into the back of your car chances are he would have jumped out, reached into your car yanked you out through the window and then lights out. maybe he'd just beat you up, maybe much worse.

my advice is let it go. nothing happend to you. you were pissed off because he acted like a tool (and i have no doubt what he was doing was very dangerous) but in the end you weren't hurt, your car wasn't damaged so I say leave it be. the only thing that came out of it was you were upset. dont waste more of your time on trying to make someone elses life miserable. in fact if he is a junky then he already has a miserable life.

if u have a glass bottle, or a can of coke, or better yet a club lock, simply get in front of him and chuck it out aiming for the driver side, dead bogans cant talk

nah dont take that seriously, just let it go, you run into idiots every once in a while, just take it as it comes as long as ur not in serious threat (if you are then you take action against them like something similar to mentioned above). like baron said, he is already miserable scum so let it be.

Let it go, theyre probrably idiots but I know that if anyone "brake tests" me I make their life hell. If you make a big deal out of it they will probrably start making your life hell for an extended period of time.. especially now they know your car and where you live. It's not a generally good idea to do it, I'm guilty of it on a few occasions to a few wankers but that's only because I couldn't give a shit if my car got burnt down overnight :)

Sounds like a p plater that will encounter a car load of boys who will sort him out.

Good thing you weren't hurt - don't stress too much and don't let it get to you.

Dumbest thing I've heard today. Stop listening to 50 cent.

Its Mr Fiity Cent to you!

Yeah, amanda, your ok, which is the main thing, your car is ok which is the 2nd thing, so dont stress to much. if you waste time on that loser then he is getting what he wants - a reaction. Either leave it well alone or past it on to the relevent authorities.

Whenever anyone tries to tailgate me, I slow down... If they don't get off my arse, i slow down to 10km/h... then 5km/h...

They usually decide to go around.

But the boys above are right, you don't want some dodgy Junkies after you.

i think you should keep on them. its people like this that we dont want on the roads and who kills innocent familys with there careless driving and miss-judgement.

i wouldnt think it of getting your own back at them, but saving somone elses life, because ya cant drive like that and somthing not go wrong eventualy.

they may be passing a car and someone walks out on the gutter and gets hit. or they pass someone on a blind corner (seen it happen) and have a head on with a young mother on her way to work.

think about it people, would you realy want someone like that, or anyone like that driving around risking there life and yours all the time? i sure as hell wouldnt.

if noone speaks up and just sits on there ass, then more people are going to get killed by these reckless drivers.

.. and i hate P platers who do shit like this, because im a P plater too and cop shit from alot of people because of that. and thats because P platers like this are absolute fu*kwits on the road and we get stereotyped instantly as idiots.

I think its better to leave it to the police, rather then making it a personal mission. Its fine to do your part, which would be passing information on to the police. But dont get involved because it can cause problems later down the track if the victims get back at these persons.

no no i think you miss understand me. i wasnt saying to make it a personal mission. i was saying to tell the police about it, and not just sit back and wait for someone else to do somthing about it which so many of us do. hell i do it too from time to time, im not saying im perfect

    • Thanks for the reply mate. Well I really hope its a hose then not engine out job
    • But.... the reason I want to run a 60 weight is so at 125C it has the same viscosity as a 40 weight at 100C. That's the whole reason. If the viscosity changes that much to drop oil pressure from 73psi to 36psi then that's another reason I should be running an oil that mimics the 40 weight at 100C. I have datalogs from the dyno with the oil pressure hitting 73psi at full throttle/high RPM. At the dyno the oil temp was around 100-105C. The pump has a 70psi internal relief spring. It will never go/can't go above 70psi. The GM recommendation of 6psi per 1000rpm is well under that... The oil sensor for logging in LS's is at the valley plate at the back of  the block/rear of where the heads are near the firewall. It's also where the knock sensors are which are notable for 'false knock'. I'm hoping I just didn't have enough oil up top causing some chatter instead of rods being sad (big hopium/copium I know) LS's definitely heat up the oil more than RB's do, the stock vettes for example will hit 300F(150C) in a lap or two and happily track for years and years. This is the same oil cooler that I had when I was in RB land, being the Setrab 25 row oil cooler HEL thing. I did think about putting a fan in there to pull air out more, though I don't know if that will actually help in huge load situations with lots of speed. I think when I had the auto cooler. The leak is where the block runs to the oil cooler lines, the OEM/Dash oil pressure sender is connected at that junction and is what broke. I'm actually quite curious to see how much oil in total capacity is actually left in the engine. As it currently stands I'm waiting on that bush to adapt the sender to it. The sump is still full (?) of oil and the lines and accusump have been drained, but the filter and block are off. I suspect there's maybe less than 1/2 the total capacity there should be in there. I have noticed in the past that topping up oil has improved oil pressure, as reported by the dash sensor. This is all extremely sketchy hence wanting to get it sorted out lol.
    • I neglected to respond to this previously. Get it up to 100 psi, and then you'll be OK.
    • I agree with everything else, except (and I'm rethinking this as it wasn't setup how my brain first though) if the sensor is at the end of a hose which is how it has been recommended to isolate it from vibrations, then if that line had a small hole in, I could foresee potentially (not a fluid dynamic specialist) the ability for it to see a lower pressure at the sensor. But thinking through, said sensor was in the actual block, HOWEVER it was also the sensor itself that broke, so oil pressure may not have been fully reaching the sensor still. So I'm still in my same theory.   However, I 100% would be saying COOL THE OIL DOWN if it's at 125c. That would be an epic concern of mine.   Im now thinking as you did Brad that the knock detection is likely due to the bearings giving a bit more noise as pressure dropped away. Kinkstah, drop your oil, and get a sample of it (as you're draining it) and send it off for analysis.
    • I myself AM TOTALLY UNPREPARED TO BELIEVE that the load is higher on the track than on the dyno. If it is not happening on the dyno, I cannot see it happening on the track. The difference you are seeing is because it is hot on the track, and I am pretty sure your tuner is not belting the crap out of it on teh dyno when it starts to get hot. The only way that being hot on the track can lead to real ping, that I can think of, is if you are getting more oil (from mist in the inlet tract, or going up past the oil control rings) reducing the effective octane rating of the fuel and causing ping that way. Yeah, nah. Look at this graph which I will helpfully show you zoomed back in. As an engineer, I look at the difference in viscocity at (in your case, 125°C) and say "they're all the same number". Even though those lines are not completely collapsed down onto each other, the oil grades you are talking about (40, 50 and 60) are teh top three lines (150, 220 and 320) and as far as I am concerned, there is not enough difference between them at that temperature to be meaningful. The viscosity of 60 at 125°C is teh same as 40 at 100°C. You should not operate it under high load at high temperature. That is purely because the only way they can achieve their emissions numbers is with thin-arse oil in it, so they have to tell you to put thin oil in it for the street. They know that no-one can drive the car & engine hard enough on the street to reach the operating regime that demands the actual correct oil that the engine needs on the track. And so they tell you to put that oil in for the track. Find a way to get more air into it, or, more likely, out of it. Or add a water spray for when it's hot. Or something.   As to the leak --- a small leak that cannot cause near catastrophic volume loss in a few seconds cannot cause a low pressure condition in the engine. If the leak is large enough to drop oil pressure, then you will only get one or two shots at it before the sump is drained.
