I dove around for a year and a half with no rego sticker aaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaages ago in an old beatup KE70 corolla, as long as you dont do anything stupid cops leave ya alone.

ALTHOUGH I do NOT endorse this as with no rego you have no CTP which protects everyone's medical bills in the event of an accident.

Well i cracked my windscreen, hgad to get a second hand one. am waiting on a sticker from the dept of transport... lol worked for me. i was shitting my pants the whole time, though... that was me sitting in a metallic hot pink cressida, (for my fiance) looking like a homo. Fantastic. They just said ok and let me go. i was pulled over at an RBT, and they didnt check the plates... since that day, ive never driven an unregistered car. too scary.

Cant wait to see some pics of it in the sun!

PS if you find the fuel consumption a bit much, ill swap my 25DET for the 26DETT... ill pay for postage too... :-)

What's the go with the number plates? If it has not been complied yet it can't be registered...

Looking vey nice by the way!

yea it was my younger bro's isea to put on the old plates of his. SSSHHH!!!!!! Although the car for registered for 2 days i bought a temp rego for it but want to save of the hassle being pulled over by the cops.

Ska what kinsd of bumper you've got? Also fuel consumption are pretty thirsty if you tharsh it its like me in the onld days guzzling beer!! >_< . Thats why as soon as i found out from Racepace that Power Fc can save fuel i when and bought one in the group buy. so...

BTW took the car in to kamikaze today for compliance. They will start the process on monday and it will take 2 wks then rego. Will keep you guys posted

Mate I just have the ugly stocker S1 bar, as seen here:

http://stagea.st.funpic.org/080305.html

I am pretty sure you dont want to swap you're beautiful bar for a stocker >_<

i will be nuts if i did

just went and saw my car today at the compliance place today. they told me that its goin to be a delay for about a week for it to be complieed since im the first of its kind that they are doing it. They need to confirm a few things with the engineers. so will let you guys know again next week

BTW there was a white DAYZ and a silver rs4 in their workshop wonder whose is it? anybody got an ideaa?

I drove past kamikaze motors today yudy and i saw your car parked outside, i was going to park my car and go up and have a closer look but i had a few things i needed to get done, let me know when you pick your car up and ill see if i can meet you there,

so we can meet in person

Sure FLY not a problem. I told them i want to pick up the car on a thursday(not this coming thursday but the next want). So i have time to bring it to a mech to check the whole car.

Alex you want to come as well?

Yudy,

would be careful making statements about them ripping you off on a public forum I am sure that someone from there would most likely post on here and word could get back to them and if they still have your car its a bit risky. Also I am sure the fuel tank in the Stagea is different to the GTR so the filter is different and the sump on the stagea is different which brad has mentioned Before during his GTR engine conversion so the oil filter probably is different and if they require genuine parts this may be added cost.

I dont agree with them not giving you a discount for providing your own fluids though but if you said that they were doing this one below cost then maybe thats why they wont move on price. Bear in mind that if it is indeed the first car that they have done they may need to consult the engineers more than they will need to for future cars so this consult is not free engineers charge like wounded bulls so this could be where the added costs come from.

When you signed an agreement with them did you have to fill in a form to agree to them complying your car? I did and it says clearly on the form the price and that there is no discount and that if there is any additiional parts required other than the parts used normally to comply a stock car then I pay for them. I agreed to that and if there is an added cost I need to wear it

My 2c

Flysly I agree with you about price most companies that do both compliance and sell cars are more expensive as they would rather keep the plates for their own stock more money to be made there as the profit margins for compliance are lower than a car quite obviously.

Wildcat found this out the hard way with the guys in Perth who complied her car they took way longer than they should have and were very pricey time delays most likely related to the fact that they have lots of new stock arriving for their yards all the time and these cars are more important to them. I am sure kamikaze is the same and put their own cars first.

You never can tell if someone is Bullshitting you but personally if I have a bad experience with a company I wouldnt be bagging them until I had my car back as you never know how spiteful some people can be and I am pretty sure there is no warranty on complaince work someone correct me if I am wrong.

After you have your car back definately tell everyone about your bad experience and dont go back there but not until then.

good idea mcnamg well to tell you the truth i didnt sign any paper works at all. i was just being told to go drop it off at the compliance and thats it, when i got there i ask them wheter i need to fill out any paperworks?! there said no need and that was it.

Ohh well i guess im just so pissed off thats all cant get a straight answer. I guess im already too far in it already and have to go through it and get my car out from there.

heheh those plates are cool, even if they are temporary... すき in japanese (su.ki), naturally, it sounds like 'ski'... it means 'like', as in ' i like this car!!!' yatta! :P

Edited by imaspy

My complaince workshop faxed me a service agreement with some dotars paperwork and asked me to signe them and send them back they basically tell me that if the car is found to be not suitable for complaince that they are required to send the car back to japan or destroy it at my cost and what those costs are. Also tells me what the go is with regards to needing to provide evidence that the car has been deregistered and degassed and that I have to pay to have it regassed and any additional costs involved with returning the car to stock are mine

    • Actually everyone on the roads was really well behaved. The only person that did any minor tailgating was a local hoon in a Turbo Focus. Unfortunately we weren't going the same way so there was no grand initial D touge battle. Lots of people pulled over and let me through. The amount of "Hey man nice car, omg skyline, nice 34 man woo" was suprising. Like really suprising. Like almost annoying. My partner was obviously surprised, she'd never seen anyone in the real world point out the car/like the car/want to chat about the car before, so to have like 3 people per day mention it was notable, I could finally say SEE? SOMEONE THINKS THEY'RE COOL. Everyone was also pretty suprised about the weather. Every day was dry and about ~13-14C. Mount Wellington had a sign that said they close the gates at 9pm and I was heading up there at about ~7:30. It was VERY apparent that conditions were getting significantly worse by the minute on the way up and down. The road on the mountain was terrible though, it's no driving road. I have various suspension related questions now. Luckily it was only about 20 minutes from where we were staying to the top of the mountain as said Google maps. We only had the 2 nights in Hobart. We went to the Farm Gate Market though which was really good - And went down to the Hastings Thermal springs/caves down there during the day. I'd definitely be up for going back again, so luckily there's a few more sights yet to see. Didn't get to do the west coast/queenstown/cradle mountain so this was supposed to be a 'scouting' trip anyway of sorts if I were to one day do/take part in/organize a more car-focused trip. As for the boat, it wasn't bad. Well it was bad, but not in the way you're thinking. We did the night trip which leaves at 6:45 (though you have to be there ~2 hours earlier) and arrives the next morning at about 6am. There is nothing to do on the ship. If you plan accordingly and bring a book/tablet/show to watch/charger you can just chill out, take some Travacalm and just sleep through it. The food there is an extremely basic buffet that costs $32 a plate, or $14 for a $3 pizza. The way back we had a travel kettle and a few different types of cup noodles and made our own tea/coffee in the room. This was a far superior way to do it. At the very least book one of the rooms with beds. I guess as we were in the off season we didn't have room mates. You get an option for rooms with 4 beds (2x bunks) or a room with just the two bottom beds. There's also some option for a deluxe queen bed but it's much pricer. We've been on sleeper trains in Asia before so we figured this is similar (and it was)
    • You just gotta be really, really, really clear and decisive with what you want your end product to be. 99% of people who want this conversion aren't "I want to run a 295 front tyre!" so they don't really need the widebody. They just want the OEM body to look a little less dumpy, so bonnet, bar, skirts job done with some camber, stretch, slam. It's when you want that, but then decide to pivot later you get big problems. See also if you're willing to get an all in one fibreglass bar, and you're willing to accept fibreglass problems like cracking the entire item on a driveway, instead of just a piece attached to the bottom, etc etc etc. Decide this all before buyin'.
    • After @Kinkstaah debacle, I'd never want to try and get it right 😛
    • The hood lines up with the fenders. The front bar doesn't perfectly line up with the fenders where the wheel arch is. You have to 'squeeze' the front bar 'in' as it wants to naturally flare out and be longer on the sides. There's a few threads where people notice this when they only swap a GTR style bumper and front bar. Unless you have genuine OEM items - you may be better served getting conversion kits. There are GTT bumpers to fit GTR hoods. There are GTR hoods (non genuine) to fit the GTT bracketry. MAY
