I haven't posted here for ages (not that I ever posted much in the first place). I just wanted to share an experience I had on the weekend.

I was driving along the pacific highway coming up towards Hornsby (this was on Sunday arvo). Going along at the speed limit and this cop car speeds up behind me and sits on my arse for like 10 minutes. All the time, he's backing off slightly, then speeding back up (as if to try and get me to speed up, which I refused to do). What made this even worse, was other motorists were speeding past us and the cops still stayed on my arse.

This went on until I eventually turned off the highway (I expected the cops to still follow me then, but didn't).

This sort of thing really pisses me off. Not only is it irresponsible and dangerous, but it is proving that some cops are wankers and do not do their jobs correctly.

Don't get me wrong, I have nothing against cops. Some of them are fantastic and do a great job, but then you get wankers like these guys who make the streets more dangerous instead of safer.

But, of course, they see the skyline, with P plates on it and think they can get away with doing shit like this. Seriously, if something had happened and I had to stop suddenly, my car would have been totalled and I would have been seriously hurt cause there would be no way the cops would have been able to stop in time.

End of rant

My god it does happen to other people and i thought it was just me.

This exact same tailgating issue happened to me about 3 times in the first 2 months. One instance even lasted thru about 4 suburbs (about a 6 or 7km stretch of rd) another was on the GWH for over 15km.

The girl in my car at the time was pretty stressed out and it was ticking me off majorly.

I ended getting the 2nd cops number plates but never reported it coz it was too late to be worrying about them.

I tell ya though im sick to death of the NSW cops, i think i've only ever met 2 nice cops in my life and they were the 2 that checked up on us at the Unigroup SilviaNSW Dyno Day afew months back coz they had a report we were running an illegal brothel lol.

Yesterday my mum started working at the Police Academy in Goulborn teaching all the nsw cops how to drive. She too has been the victim of tailgating and asshole cops (she has her own driving school business so they have picked on her also). She said she's gonna may it clear to them that their attitude stinks on the road.

whooo

Edit: Apparently my headlights are heaps bright (i get other drivers flash me atleast twice a night when driving) so after the cops finish tailgating me i always follow them for alittle just to remind them who's lights are brightest :D

It's not just cops. There are some people out there who want to massage their ego's so they egg you on doing sh*t like that.

There are your assh0le cops and your good cops, just like everywhere else. Pisses you off but that's life.

IF you caught the show on today tonight.... The Coppers in the VRX Magna... would egg people on in drags from the lights etc and tailgate to make you speed up and "Break the Law".... Mind you this is dirty tacktic's at it's best.... just dont go over the speed limit and burn rubber on launch

Pulling over is the best way to stop them.... Remember the lights and siren have to sound in order to be pulled over.... If you volunterrily (spelling) pull over to let them pass they cant "Legally" do anything..... Take that with as much salt as you wish....

Oh and my hand is permanetly on/touching wood while typing this....

Cheers

Loz

It's pretty simple.

Firstly, DO NOT SPEED OR BREAK ANY LAWS.

Change lanes and then slow down to let them pass... If they change lanes to follow you and resume tailgating, change lanes again. If they do it one more time, pull over to the side of the road.

If they pull over after you, ask for their badge numbers and file a Police Harassment report on them. Don't be afraid to do this. It's what it's there for.

I wont dignify such an ignorant question with an answer.

I am just really annoyed that when there is so much crime happening out there, the cops feel the need to try and pressure people into breaking the law so they can then book them.

I didn't do anything wrong, and I refused to speed up, as I always do when some dickhead tails me and tries to make me speed up.

As for slowing down to 15kph under the limit, wouldn't they still pull you over for driving too slow and holding up the flow of the traffic then?

But I think Merli's suggestion is the best. I will keep that in mind if this ever happens again.

none of your business! :P

SamBo - i get shit like that all the time, in the Gtst, the 180 and even today in the GTR... :)

I have noticed that Norther nBeaches cops are way more relaxed, i never get harrassed on the beaches, they do their job (always have a chat too) and let you go on your way.

Heh, it happens. I just do 20kph below the limit and drive as if I was doing my P's test :-) Oh, and you gotta accelerate *really* slowly, like a volvo driver. If you hold up traffic, then so be it. It's not illegal to be driving under the speed limit.

One of my mates has his reverse lights hooked up to a switch and that used to really **** around with people who were tailgating. Wouldn't do it to coppas tho.

Thanks dude.

I know all cops aren't crap like the ones i saw on Sunday, but just lately I seem to be seeing alot of rude, arrogant cops. They give the good cops a bad rap, seriously.

So far I haven't been pulled over in my skyline (got pulled over a few times in the pulsar, not for speeding or anything though).

    • Cheers. Skyline is back on the menu, can’t get rid of it. It’s like a child you don’t want, or herpes
    • I got back to Japan in January and was keen to get back on track as quickly as possible. Europe is god-awful for track accessibility (by comparison), so I picked up a first-gen GT86 in December just to have something I could jump into right away. The Skyline came over in a container this time and landed in early January. It was a bit battered after Europe, though—I refused to do anything beyond essential upkeep while it was over there. The clutch master cylinder gave out, and so did the power steering. I didn’t even bother changing the oil; it was the same stuff that went in just before I left Japan the first time. Naughty. Power steering parts would’ve cost double with shipping and taxes, so knowing I’d be heading back to Japan, I just postponed it and powered through the arm workout. It took a solid three months to get the car back on the road. Registration was a nightmare this time around. There were a bunch of BS fees to navigate, and sourcing parts was a headache. I needed stock seats for shaken, mistakenly blew 34k JPY on some ENR34 seats—which, of course, didn’t fit—then ended up having the car’s technical sheet amended to register it as a two-seater with the Brides. Then there’s the GT86. Amazing car. Does everything I want it to do. Parts are cheap, easy to find, and I don’t care what anyone says—it’s super rewarding to drive. I’ve done a few basic mods: diff ratio, coilovers, discs, pads, seat, etc. It already had a new exhaust manifold and the 180kph limiter removed, so I assume it’s running some kind of map. I’ve just been thrashing it at the track non-stop—mostly Fuji Speedway now, since I need something with higher speed after all that autobahn time. The wheels on the R34 always pissed me off—too big, and it was a nightmare getting tires to fit properly under the arches. So I threw in the towel and bought something that fits better. Looks way cleaner too (at least to me)—less hotboy, less attention-seeking. Still an R34, though. Now for future plans. There are a few things still outstanding with the car. First up, the rear subframe needs an overhaul—that’s priority one. Next, I need to figure out an engine rebuild plan. No timeline yet, but I want to keep it economical—not cutting corners, just not throwing tens of thousands at a mechanic I can barely communicate with. And finally, paint. Plus a bit of tidying up here and there.
    • Nope, needed to clearance under the bar a little with a heat gun, a 1/2" extension as the "clearancer", and big hammer, I was aware of this from the onset, they fit a 2.0 with this intake no problems, but, the 2.5 is around 15mm taller than a 2.0, so "clearancing" was required  It "just" touched when test fitting, now, I have about 10mm of clearance  You cannot see where it was done, and so far, there's no contact when giving it the beans Happy days
    • It's been a while since I've updated this thread. The last year (and some) has been very hectic. In the second-half of 2024 I took the R34 on a trip through Germany, Italy, France and Switzerland - it was f*cking great. I got a little annoyed with the attention the car was getting around Europe and really didn't drive it that much. I could barely work on the car since I was living in an inner-city apartment (with underground parking). During the trip, the car lost power steering in France - split hose - and I ended up driving around 4,000kms with no power steering.  There were a few Nurburgring trips here and there, but in total the R34 amassed just shy of 7,000kms on European roads. Long story short, I broke up with the reason I was transferred to Europe for and requested to be moved back to Japan. The E90, loved it. It was a sunk cost of around EUR 10,000 and I sold it to a friend for EUR 1,500 just to get rid of it quickly. Trust me, moving countries f*cking sucks and I could not be bothered to be as methodical as I was the first time around.
