Pics of the SR20 items are useless

I have seen a decent plenum casting for the sr20 and a very crappy version for the rb25; both from the same manufacturer  That is why i would prefer someone to inspect the sample first, otherwise i'll happily give it a miss.

well with or without group buy, I'm geting one for myself...besides its not as though I'm getting profit out of these things...if people are interested enough I can prolly get $20 cheaper? not much for the effort to organise shipping, etc etc....

if you want to give it a miss I wouldn't care less...

anyways I'll be ordering in so you ppls whoever interested enough can either order with me or wait for my plenum to arrive about 2-3weeks or so...then I'll post the picture..

however by that time I cannot guarantee that the plenums are not sold out, judging from high demands...anyways each to their own...

I'm going to autotechnica tommorow..so will post pics for SR20 plenum

this is the SR20 Plenum

I went to distributer, however I just realised that the package does not include any gaskets..I asked about it, and apparently autotechnica don't intend to make the gaskets...

anyways I dun think I'm getting one from them...I'll get the trust ones I guess

if you guys are still keen you can pm me...

I can get my hands on a front facing RB25 Plenum that will 100% fit an R33 and I can get it at the very good price.

If somebody is 100% committed to getting it, testing it and doing all the review on it, I can get one.

I need somebody who isn't going to get it and just sit it there for 6 weeks though.

I'll definately be interested after the testing is completed and the results are put up.

You might want to message Sydneykid - earlier in this thread he was interested in testig the original group buy plenum. Maybe he'll try this one?

Hey Pete,

I'm interested!! ;)

Can we talk at MAS, to discuss what tests, reports, etc are required?

Okay gents I have official pricing from somebody who has these items in stock in Japan.

He regularly supplies into Europe.

He has given me some pricing to work with....

5 off $359 + Freight in whatever option you like.

10 off $289 + Freight

Freight....

EMS Courier ca. 3-5 Days to the UK, Europe, USA, Canada, Australia, New Zealand, Middle East

Au $182

SAL Registed ca. 5-12 Days economy mail to the UK, Europe, USA, Canada, Australia, New Zealand, Middle East

Au $140

Super Economy See mail 4-8 weeks

Au $78

There is ONE at a special price on the condition that somebody gets the unit, runs up on the dyno before and after fitment and takes photos of the fitting etc.

You don't get nothing for nothing these days. You MUST be able to fit it immediately upon receiving and you would recieve the part in about a week from ordering.......

Al..... Can you fit immediatly?

- Does the plenum come with full gaskets, hoses, etc; just like the GReddy unit?

- My mechanic will probably not be able to fit it till early January, as he is pretty busy.

- Also if my car was to be the test/trial car, the plenum casting would have to be of a satisfactory standard, otherwise there is no way i'll spend money installing something i am not happy with. And this can't be decided till my mechanic and myself see the unit first hand.

- As they are coming from Japan, does this mean they are NOT a China copy?

at those prices, I'm very very interested. Someone hurry up and test the unit!

Hey Bassjunky - Check with sydneykid - he likes to test this sort of thing.

Whats the special price?

I am in the position to fit as I have taken mine off before, but like al said it needs to come with every thing included for fitment. Also 2 dyno runs aint free, and the second run would require some fine tuning of timming and maybe some fuel etc.

The time factor is no problem for me, but would rest on when I could book it onto the dyno.

Gents.

I don't know whether it comes with all the Gaskets and things just like the GReddy unit.

This is why we are testing it. Not just the performance but the supply as well.

We need someone who can fit right away. The tuning and fitting and all that is up to you. The special price is there to encourage somebody to purchase one, fit it and see how it goes.

Al. Lots of things that 'come from Japan' are actually made elsewhere, but as I understand it, these castings come from the same factory as the GReddy ones do.

As I have not seen one I am simply working as a go-between with the supplier who I have dealth with in the past.

If you are 100% serious to test, please PM me and we can arrange things.

Cheers

PS. The special price is UNBEATABLE

Even if you had to buy all new gaskets and nuts and bolts, it's still Uber Cheap!

I just recieved word that there are no gaskets included.

It is only the cast manifold.

We can take order immediately on the units but the test one can be immediate.

Anyone willing to take one for the team?

If you are all REALLY worried about the casting quality, we could easily have a them all extrude honed when they arrive. Would cost another hundred or so but there would be 0% worry about casting quality.

My car needs to be tuned anyway so I could be tempted to test a sample unit at the right price - I am also going to be fitting the T04E soon so I could do a 3 way test before, after and with a bigger turbo ... anyway give me a call on 0414 502 250 if you want to see what we can work out.

Thanks,

Craig.

besides the gasket, do they bolt straight on with all the fittings etc. Ie, is it just a case of removing the old plenum and placing this one on the runners directly?

And would I be able to use the existing gasket, I have never had to change it before when doing injectors etc...

That would be an excellent plan! If you could swap it back to the normal one after you fit the bigger turbo that'd be even better!

Bass, would the ones you're organising fit an R34 or R33 only?

I understand they are a bolt on item.

Yes, they don't come with gaskets, but I would just use my existing ones, unless they were shagged.

The ones I'm organising are specified for R33 only, nobody has tested on R34 so we aren't sure.

So I've got two people who are red hot.... I'll see if I can get two

Just spoke to my mechanic.

He says the gasket should not be a problem as the factory metal gasket is reusable. He also claimed that apart from one mod, the copy plenium is just as hard/easy to fit as the geniune GReddy item.

The one modification refers to the fitting of the idle controll motor; the copy plenium he fitted for another customer has to be slightly modified, as the casting was not 100% and the idle controll motor didn't line up properly. Nothing a small grinding tool couldn't fix.

The R34 fuel rails have different mounting positions to the R33, so you may need to make special adaptor brackets to fit a 34 rail onto this plenium, unless it has various mounting holes to accomodate for each model.

  • 2 weeks later...

IS this going ahead?

Is somebody testing fitting one at all?

Before Christmas do you think? It would make a great christmas present for myself

Enquiry only, not hassling

    • Apologies for the long post, but needed somewhere to lay out the entire timeline of events and actions taken:   I've got an 89 GTR with a R34 RB in it. It's been running great all year, driven probably 500KM in the last month. It's not my daily driver, just a weekend fun car.    Build info: R34 RB26 - HKS 2.7 stroker kit, HKS adjustable cam gears, HKS turbo upgrades, Trust intercooler, R34 factory DENSO 440cc injectors, JUN chipped/tuned R32 ECU. All of this work was performed in Japan back in 2019.    Thursday 10/2/25 - It's a nice day and decided I'll drive it to work, I start it up in the garage and I notice it took a few extra cranks and sounded a bit funny. I figure maybe it was just because it was a pretty chilly morning. I pull it out into the driveway to warm up a bit before leaving. As I leave the driveway, it feels very off and sounds like a misfire. I pull it back in the garage to deal with after work and take the daily to work. I was able to diagnose it as a cylinder 5 misfire with the old spark plug test (unplugging each plug until a sound change with the engine running). I take off the whole ignition system, ignitor, plugs, spark. *Important note, it is still on the R32 ignition system with the separate ignitor system. I test each system with a multi-meter and nothing presents as a smoking gun. I put it all back together and it starts up no issue. I go ahead and order the PRP R35 ignition conversion kit. It should arrive today (10/13/25)   Friday 10/3/25 - Another nice day, car starts up great and drives great all day. Very pleased that everything seems to be OK   Sunday 10/5/25 - Decided I'll take it to play some golf, load up and drive to the course about 25 minutes away. Drives wonderful the whole way there, I pull in the parking lot and the engine completely comes to a stop. I do not recall if it sputtered at all, but just remember all of the sudden the engine was off. I roll it into a parking spot, try to crank it back on and nothing.  It'll crank and crank and not even try to start. End up getting it towed back to my house and push it up into the garage.    Items I have checked: Fuel in the tank Fuel Pump relay Fuel pump fuse  Spark Plugs & gap Coil packs Ignitor    I know the cylinders are getting fuel as the plugs smell like fuel after a start attempt. I tried spraying starter fluid into the manifold and cranking and not even a sputter.    I decided to do the live CAS test (removing the the CAS, ignition on and spinning the CAS stalk to see if the injectors pulse and spark is active). All of the injectors were pulsing and I have spark at the plug. The half-moon end of the CAS did seem very loose, I'm not sure how much play is supposed to be there, but it was more than I expected. There was no in/out play of the shaft, just the tip end that is pinned on had quite a bit of play.    CAS Play video   When I put the CAS back in, I stupidly did not re-time the engine. I know I need to do that tonight, however, I do not think it will start given it seemingly was not the issue. My plan is to do the PRP R35 coil kit and retime the engine at the same time.    I plan on ordering the Haltech Nexus Plug-in ECU once they are available again, but ideally would like to get this sorted before firing the parts cannon at it and potentially adding more variables.    Anything glaring that I am missing here, I'm a bit at a loss?
    • Get it on a dyno. Get something logging Consult. Run it up and find out what is causing it.
    • Looking for a plenum for rb25 de+t neo  Not looking to push much power maybe 300kw at the wheels, is there much difference in flow for Freddy “Greddy style” compared to original Greddy or options like Proflow or Otaku garage?    I won’t be porting the de Neo head for now as I think it’ll be fine 280-300rwkw but appreciate the help and any experiences anyone has between them and any advice. Thanks  Looking at this plenum for now below
