hi all

just curious to know whether this turbo would run out of puff when going down the 1/4?

and if anyone with this turbo on their RB20 has taken it down the 1/4,

if so, what times did you get?

i wasnt sure if i should put this in the motorsport section either.... ;)

thanks

chris

In a VL i know of an RB20DET that has run a 12.9.

With the power they make there is no reason why if you have good tyres and clutch you cant run a 12.9 pretty easily...i think if you persevere and choke everything out of it you can get a 12.5 @ 113-114mph (provided you can get your 60ft time down to around 1.7 seconds)

The VL was nothing crazy, std RB20 with 5 spd and a 2530.

My setup is peakier then what you would expect a well tuned 2530 to be. I was only running 14psi for my 215rwkws when i ran a 12.9 at 113mph with a 2.3 60ft time.

So with 18psi in a 2530 you would expect 220rwkws and more midrange. With a good launch in the 1.8-2.0 sec range you would expect around a 12.5 at 113-114mph

ultimately it is going to come down to how well you can drive as to what time you get. i have a mate with a sigma with a stock sr20 with exhaust and fmic and 15psi boost. he got a 12.56 at 106mph on street tyres, with a 60 foot time of about 1.6). another guy with a sr20 in a gemini got 13.1 at 113mph. if it had been over 1km the gemini would've beaten him, but he got a much better launch.

    • Ok thanks 🙂 I will higly consider this. Any "known" company for a good reviews and experience to send that off? Is that CJ-motor good one? Or go straight to GCG site? I need to use VPN to even find some of those "shops" let alone access them 🙂
    • You can literally put in as much WMI as it takes to quench the combustion totally (and then back it off a little, obviously), and it will keep making more and more power. The power comes from the cooling effect of the water (and the meth) and the extra fuel (the meth, which also has massive octane). It is effectively exactly like running E85. One might be slightly better than the other, but they are damn close. But with either you can lean on the boost or the timing (or both) waaaay more than with just petrol and the results are similar. Here's the first thing I googled for an anecdotal bit of evidence. Can't access the attachment without being a gold member, but it is there for the getting if able to, or searched up elsewise perhaps. https://www.hpacademy.com/forum/general-tuning-discussion/show/wmi-vs-e85/
    • Dang, those BBS are so nice!
    • Yeah it is wild how much wider the Yokohama A050 in 255/40R17  vs Yokohama AD09 in 255/40R17 sits on the 17x9 +22 considering its even from the same brand and adjacent product family
    • Would love to see some examples of WMI making the same as E85. Only thing I've ever found is this one.  Which suggests WMI is not worth much at all.
