im not whinging - why havent i sold my car - i know my car kinda fits into a grey area that is attractive to a select few.

I just find it weird what some people look for in cars. I sell cars for a living - and i've had a person not going to purchase a particular car before then see a colour they fallen in love with and just purchase a car because they feel the colour is "them"

Then again i've also had people not buy cars on the smallest little thing. Like having a gated shift - a guy loved the car but wouldn't buy it cos the shifter was gated.

odometer means nuthin in imported cars esspecially skylines i reckon, i saw a car before i bought mine it had 56000 k's on the clock but the interior was a mess, just from an interior inspection it was obvious the car had been driven alot more than what the odometer was showing, (unless the owners really didnt take care) the steering wheel was all worn away, same witht the handbrake, as well as the shift boot, the seats and the car stunk,

i think the main thing is that its auto, my cousin has been trying to sell his auto r33 for 15k for a year now he has spent thousands on it, FMIC, gauges, ebc, 5k respray, BOV, 19's, teins adjustables, turbo back exhaust, audio system + boot install, shaved spoiler, power fc, dyno tuned etc

as a test he left out in the add that it was auto, people swarmed in to see it, then he mentioned in the ad it was auto now no one has come to see it in months :D

is one of the major features of any good car.

thats y its a "grey import"

Gated shift huh, yer cause being able to throw it in reverse at 110km/hr is definately important.

i was actually quite confident with the 76000kms my car displayed when it got off the boat.

1. its was a stock as a rock R33 sedan, presumably family owned (not thrashed)

2. immaculate interior, no rips/tears at all, perfect.

3. Nissan dealer service book in glovebox with all vehicle ID numbers on the associated paperwork showing services at approx 5000kms intervals from new.

I have become somewhat of a 'Factory Performance' nut of late....meaning I like to keep my cars looking as close to factory as possible whilst increasing the performance as much as possible.

Most of the time I know what I do and dont like as soon as I see it.

So when buying my GTR this meant anything with aftermarket bodykit was out.

Crap Jap aftermarket wheels were a negative.

Multitude of dodgy Jap guages etc screwed to dash big no no.

Overly modified engines, with single or High mount turbos...not interested.

Basically I think you know the type of GTR I mean...big T wing on boot, dodgy aftermarket front Bumper, Tri Spoke wheels, Pool Ball as Gearknob etc etc....

I was stoked when my GTR came up for sale...although originally wanting a Silver one, I was happy with the Black, as it had a very straight Body, very clean 'Unmodified' interior and a few mods that I actually loved ie R34 GTR wheels (in keeping with my Factory theme :( ) and a 3" exhaust.

I have made a few mods since recieving the car such as Momo Steering Wheel and Gearknob but will continue to keep my GTR looking as Factory as possible (inside, Outside and under the bonnet) so when (if) I do come to sell it should be easier :P

i feel exactly the same..nothing worse that cheap cometic mods that lower the value of your car

The colour was very important to me and i would only settle for a yellow 34 nothing else, does that make me weird ? Ive learnt from the lude that if I didnt get the colour I really wanted it would be a b#tch to respray the whole car. Also the condition of the car interior and exterior is important, doesnt matter if its completely stock. Wanted a sunroof as well but its rare to find a grade 4 or above yellow 34, let alone one with a sunroof.

And yeah the kms dont mean jack to me when buying an import as well, good luck on selling your car.

Insurance companys make it hard for young kids to buy imports these days , Had a young kid tell me he was quoted $2900 for full cover ..SGIO wouldnt insure my dads 33 n/a auto coupe because they felt he was going to let the kids drive it lol , im the oldest of 4 n youngest is 26 .. yet they were happy to insure his 33 s2 4 dr .

i spent 2 years on and off lookin for the car i now have. initially it was any GTR R32 and i didnt mind doing a little work to it. body or engine wise. then it was that it had to be a stocker 89 90 model ofcourse so it could have the 15 year rule thingy. then it turned out i could have a later 1993 model one for a couple thousand more. it needed to be stock with exhaust ,wheels and suspension at a stretch.i didnt want a car PSI was talkin about either, as they were common. i mean how many oversized gauges do you need destroying your dashboard and your view of the road. and those damn car shaped airfresheners with weird looking stickers on the windscreen that look like the chart of the elements. i then landed my beast with enkei tri-spoke 17 inch(no ricey cheapo rims here PSI) rims, a veilside 3.5inch stainless steel mandrel system and GAB fully adjustable road /track suspension setup. it still had the stock airbox on it and still has. in the end ownership was what i was after. it goes like buggery and looks low, neat and f@ckin mean, as a co-worker put it. no plans further just a neaten up as the centre vent and stereo needed to be replaced. i essentially looked for a car i could gauge financially to bring it to the level i expect for the cash. my last 2 cars were red so i didnt want the hassle i had with the red paintwork.considering i was anticipating having to do panel work and some engine work i came away with my car with a good deal as i need not do any major(or minor) panel or engine work...touch wood.

wasnt too worried about anything .. just didnt want gmg as that was all i ever saw on the road lol was lucky when a nice pearl red one came up on imports 101 with just 4 in zorst Apexi pods and tein coillies and its still pretty much exactly as i bought it only pushing 224.1 @ the wheels on stock boost

the way i see it we all have a passion for cars, well most of us :D and arent in it just to be able to say "i have a skyline, im in the import scene"

so getting exactly what you want is very important to me.

Im specifically looking for a black, manual R32 Gts-t Type M

stock body is good, GTR kit would be alright but any other kits i wouldnt want, except possibly vertex or do-luck.

As far as wheels go it doesnt bother me, i will buy new ones anyway. as long as theyre not emmbarassing haha. I wish i could afford TE-37's but might have to settle for a cheaper but similar looking wheel

If it has a turbo timer and EBC ill be happy, saves me from buying them. I dont mind interior mods as long as its not permanent ones. I plan on buying momo interior accessories and new ( or used GTR) seats at some point and having them re-covered aswell. I will accept window tinting too. Id rather it didnt have any aftermarket exhaust (trying a bit hard there i know) cos then i would feel like i was wasting money when i bought the one i wanted :(

FMIC would be a bonus though.

i guess i could go on and on, the basic car im looking for is clean, black, manual and as close to perfect interior as possible. :(

when i was looking for a car i took my dad lol he did all the work but main things that we looked at were:

- panel work: made sure everything matched up and was the same colour, orange peel etc

- How many km's - if it was high km's were they all city or country and genuine.

- oil leaks - wher it was leaking oil (especially around the head)

- timing belt - had it been done if it was due

- interior - hand brake, door panels and handles, steering wheel, seats esp where you get in and out, plastics etc

- colour of the exhaust

- wheel allignment and how it drove if it pulled or whatever

- pressure test (not everyone will do that) but also looked at teh radiator when running to see if there were bubbles

- tyres and where they are wearing

- the mods it had and how hard it had been thrashed...

thats about all i remember but i know there was more wed spend atleast an hour with a car looking at everything, but keeping in mind my dad is a mechanic and not alot of people would go to alot of extremes...

infact when we bought my car we went there 3 - 4 times and spent atleast 2 hours each time before i bought it...

in the end i went for a totally stock line cause it was teh cleanest even though it had 129,000kms on the clock

also another thing... MOST well Majority of people want manuals. we have auto's. autos dont really appeal that much due to the drift factor.

not sure if it helps babe but definately good luck with the sale i know how much ya want the 350!!!

Well i bought my R33 in 2003 and it was the first car i had purchased myself.

Unfortunately I got struck by skyline fever and didn't have anyone to talk sense to me when i went an saw my current r33.

The body kit was cracked in places and needed work, the rotors were warped, the rims had gutter scratches and the paint on the rear wing was starting to bubble.

the condition of the interior wasn't bad though which was a plus and it had a piggyback ecu, bleed valve, FMIC GTR intercooler, ceramic HD clutch, full 3inch exhaust and boost guage.

I regret that i didn't bide my time more and wait for a better example, but what's done is done and the car gives me a heap of fun. It's a daily driver and puts a smile on the dial everyday.

I have spent a small islands worth on this car....and the money is still pouring into it....i don't think i could ever sell it now.

I have since fixed up the front half of the car with a new kit and respray, however the boot paintwork is still needed. I also put in an eboost, slotted front rotors, coilovers, hicas lock kit, camber kit on the rear, pineapples, splitfire D1 coil packs and it's had its 100k major service.

But it still has a long way to go before i will be entirely happy with it.

Anyway back to what people look for when they buy cars.....you could be lucky and get some fool like myself that doesn't care about anything and has already pictured themselves cruising in your car.

hey there gazza...i wasnt bagging red cars just a personal preference after owning 2 red cars. i guess pearl is a different animal all together. as for the GMG colour i tend to like it as it was the first colour of GTR i ever set my eyes on all those years ago. i was in hazelhurst street in kewdale where nissan australia once was before they backed out of oz. it was one of the managers cars. i guess first impressions last. ironically i was there to pick up a part for my 260Z...LOL one iconic car to another...LOL

Tom thats a big coincidence...dont suppose you have private plates also? u r in perth?

Gazza...i too am a patron of good ol imports 101...is where my beasty came from.

Tom thats a big coincidence...dont suppose you have private plates also? u r in perth?

Nope, but I am looking at getting some probably next year. At the moment I have std issue WA plates.

And yeah in Perth, NoR

    • HyperGear. Just get a high flow of the stocker. Good, reliable, and should bolt on. Yes it will want things like a retune once done, so you need to factor this in to your spend too.
    • Hi. Iam looking for some "cheaper" bolt on turbo on RB25DET NEO. I do not want "big" power just better reliability than the stock turbo which is "fot now" good but is old and i do not think it has "easy" life. One the Skyline here running some "temu" china Turbo but i dont trust those... Thanks!

    • That's kind of what I was getting at saying you'd be here soon regarding length etc being able to add additional restriction.  My assumption (possible donkeys of you and mption) is that the length of hose to an oil cooler, and back, isn't going to be that huge of a loss. Typically you're talking about 1.5m of total length. And so far everyone in our world hasn't had issues with oil not being able to get to a cooler and back, it's more been, how the heck do we get the oil out of the head and back down to the bottom? I'd nearly hazard a guess the biggest issue people have with oil cooling and oil supply, is being able to get the heat out at the cooler itself (not enough air flow, too small of a cooler etc) Also, when people mount them wrong and make really awesome air traps so they've dramatically diminished the cooling capacity.
    • I will rebutt this and the preceding point from Dose....but without doing any calcs to demonstrate anything and without knowing that I am right or wrong. But... The flow capacity of a fluid transfer system is not limited by the smallest orifice or section of conduit in that system, unless it is drastically smaller than the rest of the system. OK, I use the word drastically perhaps with too much emphasis, but let's drill down on what I really mean. The flow capacity of the system is the result of the sum of the restrictions of the entire system. So, to make an extreme example, if you have a network with 3" pipe everywhere (and let's say a total length of only a few metres) and that 12mm ID restriction of the oil filter connection being the obvious restriction, then for any given amount of pressure available, the vast majority of all the pressure drop in the system is going to occur in the 12mm restriction. But.... increase the length of the 3" pipeline to, say 1000m, and suddenly the pipe pressure loss will likely add up to either be in the same order of magnitude, possibly even exceeding that of the 12mm restriction. Now the 12mm restriction starts to matter less. Translate this to the actual engine, actual oil cooler hose sizing, etc etc, and perhaps: The pressure loss caused by flowing through the narrow section (being the 12mm oil filter port, and perhaps any internal engine oil flow pathways associated with it) is a certain number. The pressure loss through, say, -12 hoses out to the cooler and back is negligible, but The pressure loss through -10 hoses out to the cooler, at the exact same length as the above, starts to become a decent fraction of the loss through the 12mm stuff at the filter port. Maybe even it starts to exceed it. I could actually do these calcs if I knew 1) how much oil was actually flowing in the line, 2) gave enough of a f**k to do things that I hate doing for work, voluntarily for a hypothetical discussion. Anyway - I reiterate. It's not the narrowest port that necessarily determines how much it can all flow. It is the sum. A long enough length of seemingly fat enough pipe can still cause more loss than a semmingly dominant small bore restriction.
