After "Nurse Debbie's" little chat last night, you now all know why we need to give blood.

My next appointment (it will be my 94th!) is scheduled for after 30 August. While I ordinarily donate mid-week at the Bourke St centre, I'm willing to make a change to a Sunday at Southbank. To do this, I need your support.

If you are genuinely intertested in becoming a blood donor, please email me with your intention. I need to know by Friday next week (August 25) so I can try and organise a group booking on the 3rd or 10th September.

Reminder that some of us are giving blood Sunday (September 24) at the Red Cross's Southbank centre (Cnr Balston and Kavanagh Sts, South Melbourne). If you aren't giving, why not cvome along to lend moral support.

You need to have eaten something before you donate. I suppose we could do "morning tea" afterwards, although Red Cross supplies all those yummy nibblies after your donation.

And you need to have had a reasonable intake of fluids beforehand as well (NON-alcoholic, Brisby!!!!).

    • Like others have said, drop the power to give your drivetrain a % of reliability until you can up the drivetrain reliability  It isn't rocket science, build power to the weakest link with a % of safety Whilst upping the the reliability of the drive train is costly, there's no point in having the engine make big power if it keeps eating the drivetrain....ask me how I know, I had the tow truck on speed dial for a few years, and I spent huge amounts of money fixing issues and breakages that really would have been cheaper in the long run if I did it right the first time Me, I like a nice sized fudge factor, that keeps me off the tow truck
