When driving my skyline (R32 RB20DET Manual), as soon as i reached

the 2100rpm mark on acceleration, it sort of feels like its holding back but it jerks

forward like it doesn't know what it wants to do. When i put my foot down to

accelerate its ok, once past 2100rpm, not a problem.

are you still running the standard fuel pump? if so sounds like it is on its way out. from what i can read i beleve u have a bit of fuel surge as the fuel pump can no longer pump fuel fast enough, giving u that hesitation.

ive done plugs, last owner changed coil packs and now has the current 1s taped up and mine does the hesitating thing..... ive had it for 2 years, still does it, maybe the fuel pump..... but if it was on its way out, should of gone by now

I've now got a GTR pump in mine and that hasn't fixed the problem.

This came up a few times , so do a search on what it could be.

I think AFM , Injectors followed by OXY Sensors was the discussion

on those topics.

sounds like an AFM problem! car sort of bunny hops like its got no fuel then goes again... clean your AFM with carby cleaner. if that dont work try the AFM soldering there a DIYS here some were. or buy another 1. i just brought a used 1 and fixed my problem.

hope this helps

Its a R32 Skyline, RB20DET.

I did clean my AFM with carby cleaner and did the re-solder on it.

I think i might clean it out with the carby clearner again.

I'm running coilpacks, havn't got leads.

Coil pack normally has troubles at high revs.Put injector cleaner into the fuel tank,

see if that might fix it.Changing the afm to find out it did not fix the problem would hurt your pocket.

Any one got a working AFM to lend to see if thats the problem?

Where abouts are you?

    • Hope you aren't too sore after that one, might take a day or 2 to notice yet and I guess it is a loooooong drive home. On the bright side, tube frame front end is a thing at superlap, right?

    • The chart of front pressure to rear pressure (with one being on the x axis and the other being on the y axis) is not a straight line on a typical proportioning valve. At lower pressures there is a straight line with one slope, and at higher pressures that changes to a lower slope. That creates a bend in the line at that pressure, called the knee point. If you do not change the proportionng as the pressure gets higher, you will suffer excessive pressure (at one end of the car or the other, depending on which way you look at the proportioning action) and then get lockups at that end. The HFM BM57, from my memory of previous discussions, is based on the BM57 from a different car (to a Skyline), with a different requirement for the location of the knee point and the distribution of pressure front to rear, and so is not a good choice for an upgrade on a Skyline. Here's a couple of links to some old posts, one from here, one from elsewhere. A lot of it pertains to adjustable prop valves, but the idea is the same. There are plenty of discussions on here about this issue from al the many years of people wanting a cheap/accessible option. https://grassrootsmotorsports.com/forum/grm/learn-me-brake-proportioning-valves/236880/page1/ https://grassrootsmotorsports.com/forum/grm/learn-me-brake-proportioning-valves/236880/page1/
    • Yeah dunno why johhny posted that here with no context, just post on FB/insta bro where he put it up?  Laine had an off at T4 during Thurs prac, he's ok, car is less than perfect, they are done for the weekend, he can fill in the rest. Bando also binned it like 100m up the road.
    • I feel there must have been a FB/insta post and the weekend did not start well at all I hope everyone is all okay
