Hey guys,

I have a just jap front mount intercooler and was wondering what piping kit thats are available that will allow the intercooler to sit back far enough that the piping wont stick out the bottom of the m-spec front bumper. I purchased piping for it and installed it on the weekend and after cutting a considerable amount of my front bar and installing the intercooler i realised that i wasnt going to be able to make it fit properly and it stuck out the bottom of the bar terribly. This afternoon i changed back to my sidemount cooler untill i could find more appropriate piping to mount the cooler without piping sticking out and making my car defectable.

Any help would be greatly appreciated in highlighting what piping kit would be suitable.

Kind Regards,

Daniel

Attatched is a picture of the cooler installed with the piping i purchased.

Mine is about the same - I noticed you dont have your lights hooked up.

I had the same problem - what i ended up doing is cutting into the light with a air saw. when you cut into the light be carefull you dont cut too much - inside the casing the light is still sealed and i was able to tape it up and fit the light in.

bad thing is that the lights stoped working shortly after but the blinkers still work and it looks complete so i guess thats all good. i think the lights blew because i did not secure the light inside much - try packing it with something and taping it a bit more secure or plastic weld it up and it might work fine for you.

as for the piping - mine can be seen from the front but it does not stick out the front bar so i never worried about it.

hey man, from that pic it looks like you placed the intercooler too far forward so its hitting your blinkers

The kit comes with metal brackets that attach to the reo bar and also under the cooler to the car chassis, this allows the cooler to be installed closer to the radiator

It looks like you attached it straight under the reo bar

Unfortunately the pipes i purchased run through the standard pipes on the right and then behind the intercooler. Thus making it impossible to mount it back further. They were custom made and unfortunately poorly made. I have put my sidemount back in for now.

I dont want to have similiar issues with new piping that ill need so i was hoping someone could point out a more appropriate kit that wont give me the same issues i had with my front bar ect.

Thanks for the feedback so far,

Dan

ive got the same problem. i wish it sat a bit further back.

i had to cut alot off my bar off :)

you could get your pipes cut to let it sit further back. if they're aluminium go to an aluminium welder and they'll be able to help you out.

get some strong, thin metal and cut out brackets for your core to sit further back.

    • Am I correct in assuming that the R35's are getting the classic skyline haircut off the odometer?  Quick search on carsales, there are 33 08 and 09 GTR's for sale, only 2 of them have more then 100,000km's on them (116,075 and 110,000 respectively).  And somehow there are about 25 for sale with around 60,000kms? Looks like the classic skyline haircut to me =/
    • @Stringycheese  Have you only gone to the one blue slip workshop?  There will be a heap of them where ever you live, good odds that the next place you go to will pass the car.  Unfortunately (or fortunately?) every blue slip / engineering workshop will be different and will be happy passing or failing different things - despite working from the same set of rules. It's kinda like 2 lawyers arguing over a piece of legislation, each saying their interpretation is correct. Might seem strange that this happens when it comes to getting a modified car passed, but this is very much a thing. A big part of the game is finding an engineer / workshop that is on the same page as you.
    • Bah. I daily mine. ~60km per work day, 10-12 thousand km per year. What's the point of having a dirty old Datto and leaving it in the shed. It needs to be driven and enjoyed while the govco allows us to do so. It will only be a few years before we're forbidden to even start up internal combustion engines.
    • Judging by that spring perch and the normal looking spring on it - not a coilover. Well.... it is a coilover, just a stock format coilover, rather than what everyone calls a coilover.
    • Yes it is. We get stock from Nismo directly. I'm happy to take photos/video of it as proof before I ship it with timestamps or whathaveyou.
