And don't forget guys, this car does a 10.04 sec 1/4 mile according to the owner. It was published in this month's Autosalon magazine, full write up on the car....

Was at Dutton Rally at Sandown and overheard the owner claiming it had done a 10.04 sec 1/4 mile in Japan.... :D

Is it just me or does anybody else find that hard to believe???

500ps + 1500kg = 10.04??? :D

Oh, and why didn't they say what mph it reached??

Still, I'd buy one.....

Everyone talks it up... just some go further than others...

It has a lot more than 500ps :/

Really?? Has it been modified beyond Nismo Z-Tune specs?? Or is Nismo underrating the power??

Here's the specs according to Nismo: http://www.nismo.co.jp/Z-tune/data_e/6.html

They also claim it weighs 1600kg, I thought it would have been 1500kg with all the carbon fibre.

Then again all the diff/trans coolers would add weight...

So blacksx, how much power has it got?? I'm curious... :)

I don't find it hard to believe, the data was recorded on Nissan's own test course so I'd be happy to believe it were true.

If it came 4th, who came 3rd, 2nd, and 1st?

P.S. dream car there...

Team Outright

1. Mitsubishi Lancer EVO VI

2. Whiteline EVO VIII

3. Mitsubishi EVO 3

The Z Tune actually scored enough points to place 2nd outright however it was docked points by the officials for some "circular antics" in the pits/carpark

The proto version would run 10,s but the one;s they sold would no way go 10.02.

In plenty of best motoring vids the Proto version is way faster/quicker and looks like a 10 sec car but in videos with the street version the car no where near moves, revs or sounds quick enough for a 10, It was struggling to catch a new corvette down tsukuba and didnt catch it not to metion the S205 Sti that was in front of them both.

See for yourselfs.

There is another video of the Proto at Nismo festival Fisco and it came 3rd the vid isnt on Youtube anymore.

1st was ATTKD BNR34 GAIAX

2nd Mines BNR34

3rd Z-tune Proto

4th MCR BCNR33

The proto had closer to 800ps no cat converter and more agressive tune that would go 10.02, the production one would of never kept up with the mines GTR

Thought so, the specs just don't add up...

The proto sounds like it had no restrictions like the production model has...

Thanks for the info!!!!

I can't say for sure if this Z-Tune could run a flat 10 or not.

However what I can say is that in the Dutton Rally Vic this year the Z-Tune on the Airport run ran a best time of 15.46s.

It should be noted that Mark Berry's best time for that event is 15.76s and Mark has run a 10.4s 1/4 mile. So the Z Tunes drag time was under Marks time and Marks 10.4s was done on R Comps.

Having competed against the car there is no question it's a decent bit of kit.

    • I thought that might be the case, thats what I'll start saving for. Thanks for the info
    • Ps i found the below forum and it seems to be the same scenario Im dealing with. Going to check my ECU coolant temp wire tomorrow    From NICOclub forum: s1 RB25det flooding at start up Thu Apr 11, 2013 7:23 am I am completely lost on this. Car ran perfectly fine when I parked it at the end of the year. I took the engine out and painted the engine bay, and put a fuel cell with an inline walbro 255 instead of the in tank unit I had last year. After reinstalling everything, the engine floods when the fuel pump primes. if i pull the fuel pump fuse it'll start, and as soon as I put the fuse back in it starts running ridiculously rich. I checked the tps voltage, and its fine. Cleaned the maf as it had some dust from sitting on a shelf all winter, fuel pressure is correct while running, but wont fire until there is less than 5psi in the lines. The fuel lines are run correctly. I have found a few threads with the same problem but no actual explanation of what fixed it, the threads just ended. Any help would be appreciated. I found the problem though. There was a break in one of the ecu coolant temp sensor wires. Once it was repaired it fired right up with no problems. I would have never thought a non working coolant temp sensor would have caused such an issue.
    • Hi sorry late reply I didnt get a chance to take any pics (my mechanics on the other side of the city) but the plugs were fouled from being too rich. I noticed the MAF wasn't genuine, so I replaced it with a genuine green label unit. I also swapped in a different ignitor, but the issue remains. I've narrowed it down a bit now: - If I unplug and reconnect the fuel lines and install fresh spark plugs, the car starts right up and runs perfectly. Took it around the block with no issues - As soon as I shut it off and try to restart, it won't start again - Fuel pressure while cranking is steady around 40 psi, injectors have good spray, return line is clear, and the FPR vacuum is working. It just seems like it's getting flooded after the first start I unplugged coolant sensors to see if its related to ECU flooding but that didnt make a difference. Im thinking its related to this because this issue only started happening after fixing coolant leaks and replacing the bottom part of the stock manifolds coolant pipe. My mechanic took off the inlet to get to get to do these repairs. My mechanics actually just an old mate who's retired now so ill be taking it to a different mechanic who i know has exp with RBs to see if they find anything. If you have any ideas please send em lll give it a try. Ive tried other things like swapping the injectors, fuel rail, different fuel pressure regs, different ignitor, spark plugs, comp test and MAF but the same issue persists.
    • My return flow is custom and puts the return behind the reo, instead of at the bottom. All my core is in the air flow, rather than losing some of it up behind the reo. I realise that the core really acts more as a spiky heatsink than as a constant rate heat exchanger, and that therefore size is important.... but mine fits everything I needed and wanted without having to cut anything, and that's worth something too. And there won't be a hot patch of core up behind the reo after every hit, releasing heat back into the intake air.
