So what? we can use it? Not recommended ia a very general temr isnt it? Well can we acutally use it or not?! Comeon guys!! Just want to set the record straight.

FFS read my post above.

Nissan doesn't "recommend" it.

I have used it for 8 months without a problem

I have tested everything Nissan said could "possibly" be a problem

None of my testing has shown a single problem

That's the best answer you are going to get, take it or leave it.

 cheers :(

Somewhere I said before, I use Ethanolfuels because I had a big input into the design and testing of the EthanolPlant at Sarina.

All the pumping equipment I designed and built was made in 316L stainless steel. Which is pretty good shit. I think a lot of opponents may think that because your fuel lines are not SS then they are going to rust, so is your tank.

Well Ethanol (aka Ethyl Alcohol) is the GOOD stuff in Bundy, Jim,Jack and not to mention Johnnie, (Walker not Howard) and my tank or fuel lines haven't the slightest trace of rust, and I've got XRays, Ultra Sounds, Nuclear Scans and MRI's to prove it.

As SK says, suk it an see. You'll only get a hang over. lollollol lots of efffinlol.

After the nuke scans u no y :O:spank:

Been using Boost98 for 8 months in a 340awkw GTR, which is also my daily. As Sydney Kid pointed out - there have been no issues, the car made more power at the same boost (with retune on D-jetro), the fuel economy has improved (380-400kms/tank) and its cheaper!!

I rate Boost98 very highly and recommend you give it a crack - get your car tuned on it and see how it goes. From what this thread has outlined - what have you got to lose?!

yeah oil has dropped 56c yesterday and today (tuesday) by another 64c so it should drop the bowser price but then we have wanka's like coles who want to make more profit and so have raised the price by 11c keeping the price up there still.

They said the oil price drop was due to an abundance of oil stocked... or something like that. Looks like all those using gas is paying off :D

People forget that everytime they have a glass of wine they are drinking more than 10% ethanol.

If we can survive drinking it, im sure our cars will be ok.

And of course Nissan wouldn't recommend it, otherwise they would have to be responsible if anything did happen. And they ain't gonna spend a single dollar doing research into ethanol fuels in their cars when they wont make a cent out of it..

Blind drunk maybe?? Of course not 100% ethanol, but 10% is fine i guess?

Ive just filled my car on monday for the first time with Boost98

paid $120.9 per litre. Cheapest fill in over 2 years i reckon, only 2-4 cents more than 91 octane at a name brand servo.

So far the car seems to be even running better than optimax/synergy etc.... and I've done over 250kms on less than half a tank.

Look up Google or Wikipedia.

Ethanol, aka ethyl alcohol is the good stuff. Methanol, aka methyll alcohol, aka

methlyated spirits, is the BAD SHIT.

Today at United Nerang, 10% 98 was 108.9 per litre.

As people from Manchester say, GO UNITED! :woot::nuke:

i filled up my series 2 for a weekend run down the coast.

we did 610klms on 65litre tank using the boost 98 only thing i noticed that was bad, was there was a bit more soot in the exhaust outlet and on the rear gate for the first half of the trip, but once i washed the car it hasn't been there again so maybe it was just blowing the old carbon deposits out?.

all in all it seems to be a good product and i will continue to use it, engine feels a little smoother at idle too so that cant be bad.

  • 3 months later...

spoken to Ben in regards to the boost 98.

He told me to fill up either Bp Ultimate or Mobil 8000 for the tune and after that i can use the boost 98 w/o having to retune

Ethanol won't make you blind. Sucks if it does as I've been making the stuff for 2 years now and drinking it regulary. Damn.

100% ethanol (96.4% - can't get 100% unless you use special expensive technology) won't make you blind. Just really drunk and make your throat really sore.

    • I would just put EBC back on the "I would not use their stuff" pile and move on.
    • Can I suggest you try EBC directly again and link them to as many competitor catalogues as you can to show their listing is incorrect, eg https://dba.com.au/product/front-4000-series-hd-brake-rotor-dba42304/ If you have access to an R33 GTST VIN and your VIN, you could also use a Nissan Parts lookup like Amayama to show them the part number is different between 33 GTST and 34 GTT which may get their attention
    • So i got reply from EBC and they just this site where you can clearly see those 296mm fronts on R34 GTT. I send them photos and "quotes" that 296mm are not for 34 GTT and they are too small. But it will be very hard to return them cuz nobody here knows 100% and they just copy those EBC catalogue :-D https://ebcbrakesdirect.com/automotive/nissan/skyline-r34
    • Hi, is the HKS  Tower Bar still available ? negotiable ? 🤔
    • From there, it is really just test and assemble. Plug the adapter cables from the unit into the back of the screen, then the other side to the car harness. Don't forget all the other plugs too! Run the cables behind the unit and screw it back into place (4 screws) and you should now have 3 cables to run from the top screen to the android unit. I ran them along the DS of the other AV units in the gap between their backets and the console, and used some corrugated tubing on the sharp edges of the bracket so the wires were safe. Plug the centre console and lower screen in temporarily and turn the car to ACC, the AV should fire up as normal. Hold the back button for 3 sec and Android should appear on the top screen. You need to set the input to Aux for audio (more on that later). I put the unit under the AC duct in the centre console, with the wifi antenna on top of the AC duct near the shifter, the bluetooth antenna on the AC duct under the centre console The GPS unit on top of the DS to AC duct; they all seem to work OK there are are out of the way. Neat cable routing is a pain. For the drive recorder I mounted it near the rear view mirror and run the cable in the headlining, across the a pillar and then down the inside of the a pillar seal to the DS lower dash. From there it goes across and to one USB input for the unit. The second USB input is attached to the ECUtec OBD dongle and the 3rd goes to the USB bulkhead connected I added in the centre console. This is how the centre console looks "tidied" up Note I didn't install the provided speaker, didn't use the 2.5mm IPod in line or the piggyback loom for the Ipod or change any DIP switches; they seem to only be required if you need to use the Ipod input rather than the AUX input. That's it, install done, I'll follow up with a separate post on how the unit works, but in summary it retains all factory functions and inputs (so I still use my phone to the car for calls), reverse still works like factory etc.
