Hey guys,

I am trying to work out the best suspension setup for my GTR so I can try to start laying down some decent times... I have whiteline swaybars, hicas lock kit and rear adjustable arms but now to start thinking about springs and shocks.... I dont know jack about spring rates, whats the going rate? (haha, god i crack myself up!) but seriously, I want something good for street and great for track.

Thanks,

Christian

if you have the whiteline bars, id sugest using the whiteline/bilstien kit., it seems to work quite well with the bilstiens as they use relativly light springs.

im using whiteline swaybars in my gtr and have some jap bilstien kit with 8k and 7k springs and the bars are way to stiff on the track.

so basicly, i you got the stock swaybars ,use a good jap suspension.

if you got aussi swaybars use an aussi suspension kit :)

Tough ask Christian. For a really trick track setup it's going to be uncomfortable on rough roads, but as you say you want to use the car on track and around town.

Personally I can't go past SK's Bilstein setup with the whiteline gear, especially the bars you have which are the right size to complement the spring and damper rates. I'm yet to get the camber adjusters in but the difference is amazing compared to stock and the overly hard setups I've sampled. If you know what SK does for a living you know he'd be pretty serious about this setup and it's no dud in my opinion.

Sure they are a bit firm in the morning when really cold, to be brutally honest, but only for a couple of kays, and they jiggle a little at under 50kmh but the handling is outstanding all around. There are still improvements to be made, but right now I have the ability to oversteer, understeer and peddle fairly quick at will, even have some fun through my local gorge run without her going off. I'd take it to the track but promised the wife I wouldn't, all the same I'd be certain of posting some very fast times.

Ifv you get down here before the decision to buy feel free to drop in for a spin.

    • I can see between the water jacket and cyl 3 there wasn't a hard line of combustion gas. It certainly appears that the issue is coming from there. Yes, checked the tension. All at 100ft lbs where I set them 5 years ago. These blocks can crack but generally when they have been over bored. Mine is only 0.5mm oversize at 89.5mm. They break between cylinders around the 91mm mark. No sign of that with mine. My gut feeling is the head gasket lifted a while back when the studs stretched and i bandaided it by retorquing the studs. It's finally let go.

    • Yes, but, I paid cash and I'm pretty sure the receipt was in the bin 10 minutes after I got home Note to self, keep all receipts

    • So, version 4 intake is on its way I was looking at these a while ago but at around $200 or more it was a little pricey for something that might not work, but, I had it in my watch list, but, I got a message saying it was on special, and I had a code thingie to use, it eventually came in at $120 delivered, so BAM, BUY NOW.....LOL I'll need to have a look when it arrives but I feel it will "look" better than what I currently have, as it comes with a PCV fitting, so I will be able to get rid of the alloy pipe that goes to the throttle body with the PCV fitting  Well, that's what the voices in my head are telling me  Oh, and this happened today Yeap, it was a Trojan, and it was cheap, so I headed back to the hardware store and actually spent a little bit more on a heavy duty,  one that was actually recommended by a plumber mate, a Cyclone one with a fibreglass handle that is actually rated for clay The broken shovel will eventually be "modified" into a short handle shovel
