Hi All,

Just wondering what u guys think of the quote and if there are any places around that could possilby do a better price. Also wondering what kind of improvements are noticed with a decent exhaust. Thanks

A split dump pipe is $600 fitted

A 5" ballistic cat with 3" pipe size is $500 fitted

A 3" system is $580 fitted + tip.

sounds a bit much to me. sure it may be worth it for the stuff they are using (possibly) but there are systems out there much cheaper. full x-force turbo back 3" in stainless stell for $970 from UAS. that doesn't include fitting, but you could do it yourself. would take about half an hour.

Hey mate,

Try x-force 3 inch turbo back exhuast. U can get for 800 (mild steel) or so. Good performance at good price. check it out at www.Justjap.com

Just search x-force n you'll see comments from other sau memebers who have purchased this product.

i run the mild steel 3.5" cat back system, with 3" x-force cat, ebay dump, and some front pipe that was already on the car. very happy with it.

hey sorry to go off topic here but im getting the same setup installed tomorrow, is the 3.5" loud? kinda worried about that they had no 3" avialable hehe.

as for the main topic, the prices sound really steep. shop around and like others have said eBay is your friend! good stuff off there. Just Jap do 3.5" mild steel turbo back exhaust minus the canon for $599. then just get a twin pipe muffler off ebay for $100 and ur set.

Not sure about the dump pipe, but the rest sounds like the going rate for a custom exhaust. Good choice with the 3" pipe any bigger you start to get lag, even a 4" inch cat will do the job might be cheaper than the 5".

Check out C.E.S exhaust just type it in google, they have the best dump pipes for skylines.

If you are running a stock exhaust, you will hear and feel the difference you will like it.

how does adding a bigger exhaust create lag?

i don't find the exhaust too loud. the rear muffler is only 3", but i have a mate with the full x-force turbo back (3" front, dump and cat, then 3.5" cat back) and it isn't really any louder. it sounds sweet at full noise. burbles a little on deceleration though.

Im not an expert but i think it has to do with back pressure so i was told, from experience with my car i had a 3.5" exhaust with a 5" tip hks cannon, the car makes 330 rwkw and it did have lag. The turbo didnt cut in til 4000rpm.

Changed it to a 3" pipe and smaller cannon, it feels more responsive quieter and the turbo cuts in at 3500rpm.

madd why does your exaust change size 3 times from turbo to tip i would have thaught keeping things the one size all the way through would be best

it may creat a little dead spot running a bigger exhaust but it till make more power everywere even tho you can feel a little delay stomping it with the stock turbo from low revs.. a smaller exhaust may creat back pressure and spool up quicker how ever it will be making far less power.. for instance a mates r32 was seeing 14psi by 2400rpm only made 126rwkw!!! with the stock turbo and a FULL 3inch turbo back exhaust (cat converter had fused together)

after we replaced the cat with a brand newy the car felt completely different to drive in every way.. havent put it back on the dyno yet but am looking at doin that sometime next week..

    • Yep, the closest base tune available was for the GTT, I went with that and made all the logical changes I could find to convert it to Naturally Aspirated. It will rev fine in Neutral to redline but it will be cutting nearly 50% fuel the whole way.  If I let it tune the fuel map to start with that much less fuel it wont run right and has a hard time applying corrections.  These 50% cuts are with a fuel map already about half of what the GTT tune had.  I was having a whole lot of bogging when applying any throttle but seem to have fixed that for no load situations with very aggressive transient throttle settings. I made the corrections to my injectors with data I found for them online, FBCJC100 flowing 306cc.  I'll have to look to see if I can find the Cam section. I have the Bosch 4.9 from Haltech. My manifold pressure when watching it live is always in -5.9 psi/inHg
    • Hi My Tokico BM50 Brake master cylinder has a leak from the hole between the two outlets (M10x1) for brake pipes, I have attached a photo. Can anyone tell me what that hole is and what has failed to allow brake fluid to escape from it, I have looked on line and asked questions on UK forums but can not find the answer, if anyone can enlighten me I would be most grateful.
    • It will be a software setting. I don't believe many on here ever used AEM. And they're now a discontinued product, that's really hard to find any easy answers on. If it were Link or Haltech, someone would be able to just send you a ECU file though.
