I’m sorry, I’m going to try not to put you down but.. yeah you are an immature driver, and in saying that I’m not saying your an idiot and I’m not saying that your a bad driver or anything like that.. I’m just saying that your not an experienced driver ( how could you be at 17 years old )

Many people will read this thread and have a slight amount of shock hit them because your 17 and you drive a GTR.

Id be surprised if an insurance company didn’t have a laugh on the phone and hang up on you.. but in the same frame of mind I cant help but wonder what I would do if I was 17 and had a GTR.

The hitting of the SSS and not telling the c0ps isn’t a big deal but its a bit concerning..

I wish you luck young padawan...

The force is strong with you...

hmmm, maybe the reason i dont find it as being a shock is that all my mates have turbos....

to be exact :

Skyline gtst

180sx

2006 wrx STI

2000 Wrx

We are all 17

damn nice to have cash is it?

anyways dont crash the gtr and when ur 19, it should be about half the price it is now

good luck and drive safe

Got the quote.

Annual Prem = 4221

Access = 2100

oh god....

jeez - youd have to sell your soul to insure that by the sounds of things. Why not just get something cheaper for now. I know its easier said than done, especially when you want a gtr. There was a time when I was looking at an NA silvia - but then I figured may as well stick with my 1982 civic till I get older. Having said that though, if there is someway for you to raise that 4 grand, then go for it. But keep in mind, the maintainance costs, fuel costs, and set aside some for speeding fines etc.

EDIT: I just checked with just car online - with the mods I have on my r33 gtst - I looked up for a gtr. Believe it or not its only 1222 for comprehensive - excess 1500. In my opinion - maybe its best that you wait.

Jeez......

We all had pretty got cars when we were that age, except that they were worked 6's or V8's

Or the odd FJ40 motor in a datto 1600......

I would love to know the insurance on a 06 WRX STi at 17!!!!!!

fark dude i wouldnt waste 4k insurance aye

id wait a couple years and save myself 7k in insurance

4k is alot but if you total your car its alrite money well spent

if you reckon your a good driver and wont crash

get third party fire and theft

if you reckon your beyond this go no insurance :(

if i had 30k id buy a s15

genuine k's and cheaper on insurance due to being an aussie import

also think about your fuel? but if your parents are gonna pay for it your alrite

think about all the servicing factors aswell !!!

owning a car like this at that age you'll be skipping meals to pay for shit

just my 2 cents

and then another $1000 excess for an ok stereo...

and if you get ultra nice rims they probably wont cover them anyway

uh huh.. *no one* will insure my LE Sparco rims. ;)

lock nuts fo' life.

personally i wouldnt buy a 33 GTR at 17... i regret buying my 33 GTS-T at 18 sometimes..

$4000+ a year for insurance makes it seem not worthwhile either.. why spend $30k on a car, and then another $4000+ a year to keep it safe..

i plan on buying a GTR, but not until ive falled down a few insurance brackets, its not worth owning a nice/expensive car at a young age.

you also said you dont plan on 'being silly' or anything in it, but if your mates all have sti's, gts-t's, etc etc.. peer pressure WILL crack you.

    • You just need to remove the compressor housing, not the entire turbo. I would not be drilling and tapping anything with the housing still on anyways.
    • So, I put my boat on a boat. First of all, I'm going to come out and say it. Why is Tasmania not considered a holy goal, an apex that all road-legal modified cars go to, to experience? This place is an absolute wonderland of titanic proportions. If people are already getting club runs for once in a lifetime 30 person cruises to Tassy then I've never seemed to see it. It is like someone replaced the entire place with an idyllic wonderland for cars, and all of the people living there with paid actors who are kind, humble, and friendly. Dear god. After doing a lap of almost all of the place I've found that it's a great way to find out all of the little things that the car isn't doing quite right and a great way to figure it all out. All in all, I drove for 4 hours a day for a week and nothing broke. I didn't even need to open the engine bay. This is by all means a great success, but it has left me with a list of things to potentially address. I also now have a 3D printed wheel fitment tool which annoyingly hasn't got any threads in it to actually assemble it. I might be able to tape it together to check the sizing I actually want to use, but it'll likely involving pulling the shocks out to properly measure travel at least at the front, and probably raise the car while I'm at it, at least in the rear. I scraped on quite a few things and I'm not sure how else to go about it. I was taking anything with a bump at what felt like 89 degree angles. And address those 10 other tasks. And wash the car. God damn it is dirty. And somehow, the weather was perfect the entire time - And because I was on the top of Mt Wellington it turns out it was very much about to freeze up there. I did something I typically never do and took some photos up there in what must have been -10 and the foggy felt like suspended ice, rather than mere fog. If you own a car in Australia, you owe it to yourself to do it.
    • Damn that was hilarious, and a bit embarrassing for skylines in general 😂 vintage car life ey. That R33 really stomped. Pretty entertaining stuff
    • Hi, I have a r32 gtr transmission. Does any of you guys have an idea how much power it will hold with the billet center plate and stock gearset? At what power level and use did yours brake with or without billet plate? Thanks, Oystein Lovik
    • Saw this replica police car based on a Mitsubishi Starion XX parked next to a 'police box' (it's literally a box) in Hirohata, Himeji City in Hyogo prefecture the other day. It's owned by Morii-san who is a local Mitsubishi Starion enthusiast. According to a local radio station blog post, he always wanted to make a police car himself based on ones he saw in his favourite Manga comics.  As it's illegal to modify a car to look like a police car and drive on the road, Morii-san tried many times to get permission from Aboshi police station headquarters nearby. They refused initially by after they got tired of that they granted him permission. However, the car can only be displayed on private property and obviously can't be registered as long as the police livery is present. The car was completed at a cost of 1.5 million yen (US$ 10,000) in addition to the car cost. A location was chosen outside Hirohata Police box where the car can easily been seen from the street. Morii-san has two other Starion road cars, both widebody GSR-VRs.
