Hey guys I plan on running a to4 turbo very soon and just wanted to get an idea on safe boost.

How much can I run on stock internals?

I don't plan on running to much but just wanted to get an idea....

I have a 3" turbo back system

Front mount cooler

high flow fuel pump

profecb boost controller

Running 175kw on about 9 pound (stock turbo) aiming for around 200-230

I have seen many of you guys running 1bar+..

My aim is for reliability before power.

Cheers!

Russ

Suck it and see............but probably not! When I upped the specs on my car, the ecu handled it OK, I got more power etc, but it ran rich as all getout. When I changed over to a pfc I went from 200 to 220rwkw and from 200+ to almost 500km to a tank of fuel.

sinistagtst: If the injectors, fuel pump, Z32 AFM and computer is there, and it is being setup on the dyno, what is a safe but higher level of boost to run? You say the car can handle 300RWKW on stock internals, is that just exhaust and cramming more boost in with a FMIC, or is that a ported head/cams etc as well?

I'd like to know what a "safe" high level of boost is on the RB25DET for when I upgrade turbos.

I know theres a guy here in adelaide with 300rwkw with stock bottom end, running a gt3040, tomei cams, pfc, injectors, z32 and the usuals and thats on 18psi. most ppl who are getting 300rwkw out of the stock bottom end are usually on bout 17-18psi and have cams but no porting etc. really the only safe way to know how your goin is to put it on the dyno and just seeing by the A/F ratio. So dont just go wacking 15 or 18 psi straight into your car get it tuned by someone proper and then you can see how much boost etc you can run.

So as long as my air/fuel is right it'll be fine..

As the stock ecu, injectors, afm won't let me go very high..

They will max out before the boost gets to high. so start around stock and slowly increase..

without pushing anything to hard..

Cheers!!

(really should have come to that conclusion myself)

But still how much will there take??

it isn't so much a rate of how much pressure. a bigger turbo can flow more air at a lower pressure, so the pressure it could take is partly determined by the turbo.

if you run that turbo on 14psi, it will be well within the stock motor's capabilities and give you good power.

GOt r33 gtst - Just got Hi-flow turbs - with power fc, fuel reg and walbro pump, intercooler, full exhaust etc - be prepared to do coil packs aswell you will run 10-11psi safely to answer your question - if you do nothing but be prepared to spend $$$'s on fuel cause your a/f is gonna go off the chart. Would recommend if you are going to do it without pfc etc to get a power run done on the dyno just to make sure you will be ok. bout $90 well spent if you ask me.

Best bet is PFC, Fuel Pump, Fuel Reg and definately look at intercooler if not done already.

not really sure on when it started the last thing done to the car was a high flow fuel pump but I didnt think that would have done it..? would'nt the car know that its running rich due to the o2 sensor? or something???

So shouldnt it adjust??

    • I havent bought a manual cover for the dash yet and no cluster change, won't bother me too much, I just need to get that auto box gone, manual in! I miss my manual. 🤪. We started last weekend and managed to get the box out. Planning to start putting it in this weekend and then order a single piece tail. We were super careful to take time and not damage anything. It's my first time working under the car.  With my S15 mainly worked in the bay. This time, it was a headache because of three or four bolts only. They simply didnt want to leave thei homr and the one securing the tailshaft, another above the GB, and the one securing the lipstick was a shit. Mates mate, Davo caught fire 🤣, nearly opened his chest up with a grinder 🤦🏽‍♂️ and both mates nearly had a plate from the box land and slit their head open. Fun times. We all survived. Not the easiest working with limited access on jackstands. As I'm sure we can agree these are the memories which make us love our car. For all three of us, was an awesome weekend and Sunday 3.30am before tools down was a fantastic effort. I need to upload pics, but looks like it needs to be via Url now. We used to be able to just upload pics back in the day. It's been that long! 🤪 Im currently spraying rustoleum under body, not because it's rusted. It's super clean, but just so it's protected for the next 10 years. There was a few surface rust spots. Which pretty much wiped off with a 3M scourer.  Really impressed with how well the previous owner maintained it. Bank account went down so quick! Service, then GB - managed to get a spanking new 34 genuine box from Nissan. All the rest of the conversion parts from Kudos.  Went with a Nismo short shifter. New pedals and Exedy Clutch and FW. Ordered the Prp Rear Main Retainer kit which should arrive Friday and my first engine mod part just like I did with my S15 will be the Tomei Expreme Turbo Outlet. Already on order. It'll likely sleep next to me on a pillow during the coming months. 🥰 Last build was on my JET200GT profile and on SAU and Hardtuned I had documented the build. Planning to try to do that again. Brands feel scarce now. Wish we still had ARC and Apexi parts readily available. Exhaust - need some advice on this. I had an Apexi exhaust on the S15 and loved the tone. My mate had a HKS HP Silent on his 33 and suggested I go with that to avoid drone. I can't remember hearing an RB25DET running that so will likely need to wait for a meet or something to hear it.  Not after big power, just enjoy building it, and drivability with minimal negative attention.
    • Have a chat with Ben at Moore Performance or Jesse at JS Performance.
    • Thanks both. All good advice. Reminds me of drilling through stone wall for drainage pipe 😬 I'll let you know how I get on if I still have use of my hands afterwards 😅
    • Finally got shipping number for the intake and throttle body, shipped by UPS, so "should" be in my hands sometime next week, fingers fracking crossed
