I am probably going to start job in the next week or so. I feel alot more confident thanks everyone. I will make my own lines and i can get hold of some heat sleve stuff. One last thing, is it a big deal to adjust the actuators once the turbos are in? Im going to leave the engine in the car.

Good to hear that mate. No problem about the offer, anytime. I'll second the water and oil lines they are a pain in the ass! Very tricky to start the eye bolt without loosing the lower copper washer. Also make sure you dont cross thread them. Make sure the banjo fitting is square on the connection when you try to start the eye bolt.

PS: I also need heat sleeve stuff..lol

Never adjusted actuators as mine are stock..

Regards,

Deren

Sometimes the actuators are set at a higher bar and you might need to after you have completed

the installation, take your front pipes off to adjust.....they only need slight adjustments up or down to get

the results you need.

Both turbos need the same boost level. :)

my friend removed and fitted new turbos on his car not long ago. took him 3hrs out and two hours in.

then i did the same on my car took 4hrs out 2hrs in. we both never did this before.

i thought it was gonna be a nightmare but once you start undoing a few nut n bolts its not actually as hard as

it looks.

all the tools i had was a 56pce spanner socket set and ratchet spanner set.

its a bit tricky but worth the effort if it saves money.

Awesome topic guys im thinkin of doin the same with my GTR by puttin in some GT_SS turbos so when i get round to it your info will definately come in handy

I started removing my turbos, after a gasket leak started getting worse. So at the same time im upgrading from 32n1s to GTSS's and also replacing stock dumps. Its a prick of a job.

    • Hope you aren't too sore after that one, might take a day or 2 to notice yet and I guess it is a loooooong drive home. On the bright side, tube frame front end is a thing at superlap, right?

    • The chart of front pressure to rear pressure (with one being on the x axis and the other being on the y axis) is not a straight line on a typical proportioning valve. At lower pressures there is a straight line with one slope, and at higher pressures that changes to a lower slope. That creates a bend in the line at that pressure, called the knee point. If you do not change the proportionng as the pressure gets higher, you will suffer excessive pressure (at one end of the car or the other, depending on which way you look at the proportioning action) and then get lockups at that end. The HFM BM57, from my memory of previous discussions, is based on the BM57 from a different car (to a Skyline), with a different requirement for the location of the knee point and the distribution of pressure front to rear, and so is not a good choice for an upgrade on a Skyline. Here's a couple of links to some old posts, one from here, one from elsewhere. A lot of it pertains to adjustable prop valves, but the idea is the same. There are plenty of discussions on here about this issue from al the many years of people wanting a cheap/accessible option. https://grassrootsmotorsports.com/forum/grm/learn-me-brake-proportioning-valves/236880/page1/ https://grassrootsmotorsports.com/forum/grm/learn-me-brake-proportioning-valves/236880/page1/
    • Yeah dunno why johhny posted that here with no context, just post on FB/insta bro where he put it up?  Laine had an off at T4 during Thurs prac, he's ok, car is less than perfect, they are done for the weekend, he can fill in the rest. Bando also binned it like 100m up the road.
