My dad pulled his vl box* apart once, he couldn't get it back together though. ended up just taking the lot to a gearbox shop.

*(in a datsun fairlady mounted to a nissan urvan engine)

Not doing it myself lol. I was offered 20k cash for my car yesterday. Paid 21k 8 or so months ago, saves me the trouble of replacing the gearbox since this guy is loaded. Might go ahead with it, get a work car and in the meantime try and source a 06/07 V35 from Japan or something. Food for thought.

Also my mechanic said 5 hours MAX since he didn't know how difficult it would be on the car he based that on his experience of every other car on the market apart from this.

True there is only one way to learn, $1900 can buy a lot of tools, get a Nissan manual, hydraulic puller kit and get some custom pullers machined up at Mackay Harbour Enginering. It cost me $1200 to bucks to buy all the shit I needed to rebuild gearboxes and now I got them for life, now my brother can break all the gearboxes he likes hehe useless retard. Up to you Sean, you can pay people to do shit the rest of your life or slowly start collecting tools over the next couple of years and you won't have to pay people anymore. Ive spent 3 or 4k a year on tools for the last 5 years got tools from arse hole to breakfast in the shed. You learn pretty quick when you f**k something up, but hey you won't do it twice lol.

True Ben that's right. I've only been in the car scene under a year but always been interested in the import scene since i was 13 or something but never had the chance to do hands on work, i have started collecting shit with my dad and it's good fun getting under the car on a Sunday and doing stuff i enjoy it. It does take time to learn though but i don't think a gearbox is something i should tackle with no driveline experience whatsoever.

haha not sure what he'd think about that. If i was going to do anything to the gearbox i would replace it with the 05-07 transmission as it has better synchro's and i would only have the same problem with my current gearbox down the line.

Lol I'm on a Health kick at the moment even joined the Gym and everything, Drank way to much when I was in USA and Open cut work made me fat and a Alcoholic lol, back underground now need to get fit. Yeah I'll lend ya the GTR its got no engine or gearobox in it at the moment but your quite welcome to sit in it and Fred Flintstone it. I remember my first interest in imports cars was when i was like 12 bought my first HPI magazine when i was 13. Back then R34 GTR's were 140K + and R34 GTT about 90K never thought i would own one. But as soon as I left school and started my apprenticeship I bought a R34 GTT when I was 1st year. I was pretty much the first person in Mackay to have a R34..... ahh the memories good old days could only afford $20 of petrol a week lol 4 sets of tyres in 1yr, Dad had to pay for them hahaha. Only owned the R34 for a year and upgraded to a R33 GTR and Dad bought the R34 off me. Then the collection started and GTR's consumed our lives.
