as the topic says i want to get my stock steering wheel re-leathered aswell as my gearknob as i like the stock items and keeps the police away.

I've got prices from cartoys - $200 and Wilshire's - $260. (for the steering wheel alone)

Just wondering if any of you out there knew of anywhere else i could get a price from as i thought $150 was more around the mark.

cheers!

I was quoted $200 to releather the stock steering wheel a couple of years back.

From some place in the city that sells all the top line race seats and steering wheels.

Not sure if u could get the stock knob releathered as it needs the shift pattern. Maybe an R33 knob? Are they a similiar look?

R34 maybe?

I remembered an old Autospeed article on this, here it is:

I remember doing some design work for these guys, Think the ownser name is John, he used to own Global Car Audio back in the day too!

yeah I had CarToys do mine - $300 including removing and reinstalling the steering wheel (requires battery to be disconnected overnight so the airbag doesn'tt go off, hence why I paid someone else to do it).

once again guys thanks for all your help, knew i could count on SAU. Will give them a call on monday!

Just installed my gear and hand brake boot for the group buy on this forum and thats now looking top notch. Now i just have to get the steering wheel done and work out what to do with the gear knob and the interior will actually look half decent for SCS!

ended up getting it done here

as oosh suggested, they do the wheels for cartoys anyway as it turns out and i'm happy with their work! Cost me $200 and they said they can do my gearknob also for $40 which i thought was pretty good but of course there's no 'h' pattern but thats no biggie!

Looks tidy..

Whats the colour of the leather? The photo looks almost grey or is that just the flash?

Any chance of a bigger 640x480 or 800x600 photo and upload it to sau via their attachment?

I need my steering wheel done so I think I will most definitely follow your steps. :(

haha, better not do a group buy now that i've had mine done, or maybe i can get my gearknob done cheaper with the group buy, hehe!

If you guys are serious though i can ask the bloke as he was a top guy and took a lot of pride in his work.

Joel - Its not grey, definitely black, think it was just the flash of the camera that makes it look like that! I'll probably pop up on the sunday and let you have a squiz @ the wheel and maybe play with my power fc if you have time. Thats if i get that oil hose on, i got the old one off but the new bit of hose i got from you is too stiff and won't go on cause of the stupid angle i have my oil drain on! argh:(

Yep its definitely difficult to slide on especially if the attachment has a lip of any sort.

Grab a rag and smear on some rp7/wd40. Works quite well.

Just don't go overboard as wd40 i'd imagine isn't too good for the oil.

Connecting it to the motor is difficult and you will end up feeling like your going to break your forearm pushing it on.

Cut the oil drain off so that its straight, thats what i ended up having to do as mine too was on an angle or does it angle from the start of the attachment? :S

That bit of hose I gave you was the softest stuff I found in that size. The gear I got from pirtek was very very solid.

    • Ha ha ha, that's fair mate! We have the crackhead dogs now. Mainly because the missus wants the crazy dogs while she still has the energy and capacity to be able to keep up with them! Ha ha our current two are both Working GSD, there brothers and sisters (from the same litters) are in Police, Corrective Services, and I believe one did end up in defence force too. They're wild and fun, yet right now, both curled up asleep on the lounge room floor while we watch some TV. Mal is very likely the next dog (unless I get my couch potato guardian dog 😛 )   What are your Kitties names? Are you planning some house work, like those high kitty shelves, built in scratching post, and some cat passages from one room to another room?
    • Maine Coone, did look at but to big and fluffy As for performance dogs, we had Mals at work, performance dogs are fun to watch, but, way to much work for this old rooster
    • Yep, it was only an option on the Q50 Hybrid.  Same in Japan as far as I know. And doesn't use a centre diff like the Suby's do, so not the same as the WRX.  But it also isn't a reactive AWD like other Nissan AWD vehicles are, eg. Murano/Xtrail/etc.
    • You should have got a Maine Coone then. Only thing is they're big. But so cool, and just like a dog. Or, just get yourself a high performance dog. That'll teach you for wanting Parkour indoors 😛
    • Are you thinking of Bens R32? I don't remember if his went through the bonnet itself, but it went through the chassis rail. Brad (RISKIN) bought it, and turned it into a track car. It's funny how anti people are of Jim Berry now. I remember when I pulled mine out (during an engine change) and inspected it and found it cracking badly. At that point in time so many people were even on SAU, were so pro Jim Berry, and that was after Bens GTR exploded his quite publically.
