Incidently, next time you're going over, just borrow an aussie 3G handset, and you will be able to make and recieve calls and SMS's.

Works like a charm.

Where abouts in Chiba is this hotel? I think I need to find a better one than last time...

Nice pics too.

The hotel is in Chiba/Chuo. Near Parco shopping centre. It's nice for the money.

i do have a 3G handset in aus, but just didn't bother as it's a sh1thouse Sony Ericsson one. I quite like not having my aussie mobile for a few weeks too!

had an awesome day today at Ueno and Ueno park, then back to Shinjuku. Tonight went in to Roppongi Hills again, did some shopping. Then another few beers at Heartland bar in Roppongi Hills. Then on to dinner and the BEST RAMEN and Gyoza I've ever had. Checked out my friends place in Shibuya too and it's awesome. Has a few over Tokyo, inlcuding Tokyo tower. So we headed up to Tokyo tower too. Got some nice pics which I will download later. Checked out a crazy shop in Roppongi that had a window with huge Coi in it. Even had an eel and a turtle in there too. We were lucky and it was feeding time and they fed goldfish to the Coi!!! it was nuts.

Ur pics bring back memories baron!! I think another trip to Japan is on the cards.

Ueno park is nice, spent a few weeks there.

2:30am? U softie! I was on the C1 till 5am last time and then to yokohama drifting till 9am in the morning!!!! Mind u this was in the middle of winter in Jan!!!!

it's a customers car. built basically to the same level as the HKS Driving Performer 34. But this one was built even before HKS did theirs! It's an amazing car.

last night was back to Roppongi Hills for some shopping, then to an all you can eat Shabu-Shabu place. My friend and I did 7 plates between us, and since we had the all you can drink option too we downed 9 long necks of malts beer. Then it was on to the club and switch to borbourn, and bottles of Veuve (only $135 even at a club!). Left when the club shut at about 6am. massively shitfaced. now I'm going to go and hunt out a PS3.

I thought as much.

Interestingly enough, the owner of the Z Tune here in Australia orginally wanted the HKS Driving Performer R34 GTR but when we contacted HKS we were told that alot of the parts were one off's and were not available for sale. He didn't want the car unless it was identical.

had a bit of a set-back. Last night (well actually 6am this morning) I f**ked my camera leaving a club in Roppongi. Actually my friend did, it fell when he opened the locker. I was too trashed to even think about it at the time, but today when I went to take some pics I realised it doesn't work. :( Dont fear though, first thing in the morning I'm going to buy a new Canon 400D. They look awesome for the money.

more pics will be up tonight folks. I did splash out and buy the new 400D and a Canon lense too. It`s awesome. Last night I left Tokyo and caught the Shinkansen (nozomi train thank god) to Kyoto. I have been on other pezzy Shinkansen but none of them come close to the Nozomi. It`s the fastest passenger train in the world and reaches 295km/h on the route i took. Nothing like sipping some nama beeru and smoking down a Mild Seven whilst doing nearly 300 clicks!

my new hotel doesn:t have in room net, but the maccas accros the road does have free wireless!! sweet. I will use it later.

Today I did the golden temple in kyoto and the imperial palace. and a shinto shrine for good measure. Got some great pics. I`ve been throwing around the ¥¥¥ like it`s going stale so it will be nice not to do any shopping for a few days! and no more roppongi clubs to go to either.

I hope you guys enjoy the pics and the ones taken with the 400D should be even better.

Ja matta!

another few things. I went to the New York bar in the Shinjuku Park Hyatt the day before yesterday and it's awesome. I'd been to the lower bar (42floof, the NY bar is 50 something floor). Drank some fine japanese single malt and enjoyed one of the best views in the world I reckon. I tried to find Kenny Yaboo but no luck

I promise I will try and get up some pics tonight. Got hundreds and hundreds, surely some will be good!?

just got back from the Gion area in Kyoto which is like the more old school part. If you've seen memoirs of a geisha it's based in this area, and at night you can see the real Geisha going about their business. some of them were stunning, and the most elegant looking girls I've seen. I went to some traditional theatre, and then had an awesome meal at one of the little restaurants in Gion.

some more pics:

this one is for Duncan. Super Aguri merchandise by the truckload. I was going to get you a sticker, but even the small ones were like $20 and I'm too stingy, and I've heard you dont put out so I didn't grab one :D But I did take you a photo of their jackets. 26,000 yen!!

This is the obligatory row of vending machines photo! I actually had some noodles from a vending machine today and they were quite good.

The playstation 3 demo at the Sony Building in Ginza. Hope you guys enjoy this one as photography of the PS3's was strictly forbidden, but the girls there liked me so I got away with a couple.

Is there a cooler pair of stickers to have on your 32 GTR? I think not :spank:

picture476hu2.jpg

The view from one of the balconys in my friends appartment in Shibuya (about 8 mins walk from Roppongi). not bad at all!

Tokyo Tower. Taller than the Eifel tower, and simply amazing.

The Nozomi Shinkansen. I was blown away by this thing. Such an awesome way to travel. Sorry it's a bit blury, but they are hard to catch standing still!! This is the first of the shots with the new Canon 400D. So please bare with me while I get used to it.

What I did on the train: smoked, drank and read the manual for the new camera. :spank:

img1917rn7.jpg

This was taken from the train. Not bad considering the train was hauling arse out of Tokyo. This is on the outskirts of Tokyo somwhere.

    • I'm actually not sure - I think it was "Stealth Performance" (It really is near impossible to find a FEMALE 1/8BSPT to 1/8NPT male at ALL) but having the thing leveraged on a 90 degree angle on a small aluminium fitting is not too smart. Also in not too smart, I've drilled out the center of the broken fitting so there's maybe 0.00001mm of thread to bite into, so yeah. I may have to get it drilled/tapped/plugged entirely. Given I could conceivably tap a thread/adapter/pressure line in any point in the oil system I suppose it's feasible to run a line to the Nissan Sensor to keep the dash working. Do these exist in AN fittings and the like? Like an AN fitting that has a NPT (or other?) thread as well for putting a sensor in?
    • I would agree.  There will be an amount of boost you could run safely with an otherwise factory system, but it would be low enough to not be worth the cost.  And if you are reliving your 20s, you know a 'little bit' was never enough. Personally, if I didn't want to spend the money, then stick with NA bolt-ons, and maybe a tune.
    • Fuark, at least the motor survived. What brand was the fitting that snapped?
    • Wrong question. There's no point in spending the rather large sum of cash and effort to add turbo, without taking it to the "sensible" limit of the motor itself. If you have to upgrade injectors, etc, then so be it. That is a tiny fraction of what it will cost you to turbo it.
    • Measure voltage at the starter solenoid terminal when the key is at start and it has clicked. If it is really low, then the suspicion falls on the ignition switch (contacts or wiring thereof) as causing a voltage drop instead of sending enough volts to throw the solenoid all the way to engage the starter itself. If it is a decent voltage, then the suspicion is on the solenoid. Might have s horted coil, or might hva dirty contacts. Rip the starter off, dismantle, clean up contacts and inspect winding. It might not be possible to see if there is a short in the winding though. I have a spare starter here that I could measure the resistance of the coil, as a guide to about what it should be, if you need a comparison. <parts hoarder>No you cannot have it.</parts hoarder>
