Shannons told me mods arent an issue unless you want to recoup the cost of them when its a write off. And mods are an issue if it can be proven that they caused the accident.

For me $800 (I think) for 25K. Based on the wife who is 27. Otherwise it would have been $550... I was chuffed to say the least.

ACV30 Camry Sportivo with a 1MZFE V6 in front of a 5 speed manual.

Makes 147kw at the fly wheel, tops out at ~5500rpm in fifth at ~220-230kph

Not sure on the 0-100 but definatly will pull a 1/4 mile time around the high 14's, maybe low 15's, which is pretty quick for a Camry IMO.

With the manual box has some hardcore traction issues in the wet, with new tyres it frys 1st and 2nd, spins 1/2 of third too. In the dry, will comfortably loose traction at 60kph after a clutch popping.

Only gripe I have with the car, has really strong oversteer, yes, oversteer, tendancies on high speed sweepers and also under braking the rear comes out a bit. Understeer on hill climbs is also non existant, apart from corner exists in the wet when the wheels spin and the car just floats, but thats controllable.

Not too bad on the fuel, ~9's on the highway and I do around 15's city, but I drive with lots of RPM.. :P

Definatly reccomend a V6 manual Spotivo to anyone that is looking for a very decent performning, comfortable, NORMAL family car.

My old man's got a Camry Sportivo too (2003, I think?), and if it wasn't for the fact he pussied out and bought a 4cyl Auto, it would be a great car! He's also got a 2000-model Audi A4 1.8T (FWD, Tiptronic Auto), and if it wasn't for the fact that the Audi was turbocharged, I'd prefer to drive the Camry.

The Audi's (standard) suspension is HARD, and the tail end skips around on bumps and irregularities when you hit them mid-corner... The Camry handles AND rides a lot better than the Audi. Like I said, if it wasn't so gutless as an auto (or had more gears to make up for it), then I'd rather take the Camry out 90% of the time.

I'm with shannons, 28 year old, all mods listed, agreed value of $22k, $1666 per year.

Must be my postcode causing such a high price, I see younger people than me on here, with much cheaper insurance.

Thats life I guess.

Well guys I think im just gunna have to bite the bullet and go shannons. choice of repairer, and I get the car back. JUST CAR only give you the option to buy the car back. but you can chose repairer if you like, as long as they give you decent price they'll take it.

camry's, audi's, lol there all slow, straight line or corners. Ive beaten a new camry to 190kph in my mini. and I bet i could get them round corners to. he he

jdfnq think insurance will vary between a coupe and a wagon??

I'm 31, pay $900 a year for mods, never garaged with a speeding fine in the last year lol

Area also makes insuranve variable so...

It should be cheaper with the wagon I would've thought

I listed all my mods and there was no real extra I am 31 and I think that it is $780 per year, but the best thing about Shannon's is that the excess is only $500. When I looked into Just car, they wanted $500 for this and $500 for that and i think $250 for something else..... Just waaaay to expensive........

Good luck >_<

well going on all the different variables, I guess its all up to who takes ya call on the day. IF the boostzor (whatever his ID is lol) did do deals for members here, then that prooves it. I certainly wouldn't mind a deal but if the time comes that I need to claim and something wasn't covered, they will find that small thing that wasnt covered and your stuffed.

Shannons are good with the options, slo-n-steddy - choice to have the car is extra I think.. if you're not sure on something, pick thier brains. And read the policy when it comes in the post.

My current policy lets me keep the wreck. touch wood I never have to claim that. so i get to just swap my policy over. it'll be even less to cause I nominate that I only drive 3 or 4 days a week. public transport is your friend.

Just Cars excess for me was 2100 bucks.

I didn't get a deal.....

just called and told 'em what they wanted to hear >_<

there are more R33's then there are wagons, that plays a big part in the insurance costs :O

Yeah I didn't think of that >_<

I just figured that it being a family car :woot: that it would be cheaper....

my bad

I suggest you send a PM to _8OO5TED_ and see if he can help. AFAIK, he still works for Shannon's, but in a different section. Worst comes to worst, he can put you in touch with someone in the right section...

I spoke to him around 2 months ago, and he helped me out, even though he'd already started in his new role there.

When we were looking at buying the Stag (October/November last year), Sheri made some calls and Shannons told her that because the car would be a daily driver they didn't want to insure it. It's currently insured with Just Cars $700ish for the year and $1100 excess......that's based on Sheri, 26, rating 1, and we're in Tassie too........

Yeah it really depends on who you are talking to, when I first bought my stagea, I rang shannons up three times and got three different stories..... The originally went with Unique Car Insurance, but now happily with Shannons.

yeah, I was with Shannons originally, rang a few times until I got the price I wanted to hear..... just on 1g pery year, with basic mods. 29 this week, owned nice cars/bikes always comp insurance, rating 1 etc. Chatted to 8OO5TED and got all my mods listed for like $10 bucks extra.

pay by month, with my Stagea, wifes Nubira and the Fireblade all on the 1 policy.

I finally got insurance last month. been driving the stag for 2 years with nothing on it. I figure, i don't want to have an accident, so i won't. plenty of near misses, never my fault though.

under 25, so went with Just Cars, $1700 with every little mods, including the stereo, wheels and leather trim covered. i think it was about $2100 excess though. also got my g/f's Corolla Sportivo Turbo covered, $1200 plus mods and a $1500 excess.

Funny thing was, Just Cars were cheaper than NRMA for the corolla. it's an aus delivered car so i figured NRMA would be the cheapest, but they is the suck. i couldn't figure that one out. I'm 25 in just over a year, so i'll jump onto the shannons bandwagon then.

I'm wit Just Cars have been for 2 years. Cannot fault them..

My cars is insured for $23K from memory wit all mods and a daily driver.

I'm 24 and it costs me $1500 a year..

Even wit all my speeding fines...

So I can't complain..

    • Was going to say the car pulls up nicely everywhere, especially going into that last long right hander before the main straight. Looks like a lot of fun.
    • Hey Dave, welcome aboard! Good to see another soon-to-be Stagea owner here. The wagons are awesome — plenty of space, still got that Skyline DNA, and loads of potential if you’re into mods. Definitely post up pics when you get it, everyone here loves seeing new builds. What model/year are you looking at?
    • See if you can thermal epoxy a heatsink or two onto it?
    • The other problem was one of those "oh shit we are going to die moments". Basically the high spec Q50s have a full electric steering rack, and the povo ones had a regular hydraulic rack with an electric pump.  So couple of laps into session 5 as I came into turn 2 (big run off now, happily), the dash turned into a christmas tree and the steering became super heavy and I went well off. I assumed it was a tyre failure so limped to the pits, but everything was OK. But....the master warning light was still on so I checked the DTCs and saw – C13E6 “Heat Protection”. Yes, that bloody steering rack computer sitting where the oil cooler should be has its own sensors and error logic, and decided I was using the steering wheel too much. I really appreciated the helpful information in the manual (my bold) POSSIBLE CAUSE • Continuing the overloading steering (Sports driving in the circuit etc,) “DATA MONITOR” >> “C/M TEMPERATURE”. The rise of steering force motor internal temperature caused the protection function to operate. This is not a system malfunction. INSPECTION END So, basically the electric motor in the steering rack got to 150c, and it decided to shut down without warning for my safety. Didn't feel safe. Short term I'll see if I can duct some air to that motor (the engine bay is sealed pretty tight). Long term, depending on how often this happens, I'll look into swapping the povo spec electric/hydraulic rack in. While the rack should be fine the power supply to the pump will be a pain and might be best to deal with it when I add a PDM.
    • And finally, 2 problems I really need to sort.  Firstly as Matt said the auto trans is not happy as it gets hot - I couldn't log the temps but the gauge showed 90o. On the first day I took it out back in Feb, because the coolant was getting hot I never got to any auto trans issues; but on this day by late session 3 and then really clearly in 4 and 5 as it got hotter it just would not shift up. You can hear the issue really clearly at 12:55 and 16:20 on the vid. So the good news is, literally this week Ecutek finally released tuning for the jatco 7 speed. I'll have a chat to Racebox and see what they can do electrically to keep it cooler and to get the gears, if anything. That will likely take some R&D and can only really happen on track as it never gets even warm with road use. I've also picked up some eye wateringly expensive Redline D6 ATF to try, it had the highest viscosity I could find at 100o so we will see if that helps (just waiting for some oil pan gaskets so I can change it properly). If neither of those work I need to remove the coolant/trans interwarmer and the radiator cooler and go to an external cooler....somewhere.....(goodbye washer reservoir?), and if that fails give up on this mad idea and wait for Nissan to release the manual 400R
