Definitely 0 when not running. Without the oil pump running there is no oil pressure.

Depending on age/condition of your motor and the viscosity of the oil you use, you could see anything up to 7/8 or so when cold, and 4 when warm. The 33 I drive practically every day sits on 4 when cruising on the highway, but my old car used to sit just above 2.

If you're worried, put a second oil pressure guage in to compare readings.

hi all, just wondering if this is normal. I just changed my oil last night but this morning i noticed it was all the way to the top when I first started it, it dropped as the oil heated and sat pretty normal. What is the real concern is that when i give it to it, it rises up past half way getting closer to the top. Im only new to the skyline seen been that i have only had it for 2 months. Is this normal?

Can anyone please confirm if it is normal for the oil pressure to rise as i rev harder...when i accelerate the pressure rises and when i push it harder, ie 4000+, it rises higher getting closer to 8. is this normal?

It should rise as the revs rise......

8 seems high though....

What viscosity oil did you use???

Just changed oil.

i use 5-30 and the gauge reads lower now. Needle sits about 4 when hot and running at revs

the dude at the shop wouldnt let me leave with the oil i wanted...he gave me 20-60...i thought this was wrong but he assured me it was correct. would this be throwing it high? im going to the drags tonight and dont want to blow a head gasket...

i think the oil for stock rb25det is 10-30 or 0-30, not sure if its the same for the non-turbo engines, i just got magnitec 10-30 for mine and its rises with revs and it still runs smoothly (though it doesnt rise up to 8).

Be a bit thick wehn the oil is cold.....

should be fine once warm though......

A 30 grade (hot) oil, ie X-30, is basically designed for the cooler conditions in Japan. Coming summer in Oz, I would think you could probably run a slightly heavier oil, like 10-40. Maybe 20-60 is getting a bit too thick.

gues i wasted $35...damn im going to buy some oil at lunch and go home to do the fastest oil change in history. Oh and when i sell it i can say i change the oil daily....engine care is what im passionate about....i even put in one of those engine tune up things....damn

    • Sorry to hear your HFM BM57 was faulty,  did you contact HFM I would hope they would be at least grateful for the information if there was some sort of manufacturing fault, you would hope they would be sympathetic even if your item was 2 years old if it had never been fitted. May I ask where it leaked from ?
    • Cats are called Bella, and Donna...  Like that poisonous plant And I remember your 2 monsters, I remember making a little bit of wee when you let them out... LOL I have already installed cat doors into the laundry where their kitty litter is, and the sun room, apart from the cat doors there's not going to be any permanent mounted stuff on the interior walls (interior doors are cheap and easy to replace) I will get a outdoor cat cage thingie once I finish the landscaping out back... https://catnip.com.au/ The only off limit areas are the main bedroom and the gym room....but, currently the cats are curled up in bed, in the main bedroom with the Mrs.....LOL, the off limits for the kittens to the main bedroom lasted about 5 minutes with Jackie I currently only have 1 free standing huge cat tree multiple level scratching post thingie in the lounge room, but, I will be getting another one soon now that I'm happy with the furniture layout in the back room and have a perfect spot for it
    • All of this is making it seem clear that running the Coppermix twin was definitely the way to go, especially in hindsight with how insane tariffs have gotten and the strength of the USD vs yen at the time.
    • That sounds like no chance of even importing one for road registering then Now I see why Duncan wants to check LHD rules for Targa...   I wonder how "bolt in" the AWD would be if you got one imported from the US and swapped it to an AUD one
