Well, the time had come ladies & gents, for the next part of the puzzle that is my GT-R to occur. As you can see,the day before was all quiet and serene...

But then,the hired help arrived!

Organised months earlier, the car went from this:

So,we got to the point where...

Comingout.jpg

And,VOILA! The reliable,and in no-need-of-removal-really RB26DETT was out!

So,I must extend a huge thankyou to Jester,BulletR32,Frink,Bluprint,Scooby and Jimmy(forum name,Jeremy?)for putting in the hard yards. Seriously, without the enthusiasm, and sometime delirium, these guys showed up with,I'd be Wallaby Ted's cousin(Roo...)!

Thankfully, everything went really smoothly, and I've already removed the stock turbos now the engine is on the stand(waaaaay easier than attempting it on the car!).

So,if anyone would like to suggest a good,clean,no-numbers firearm so I can hold up a bank to get the funds required for the rest of the build...

As you can see,I'm just wrapped...

(Luke;you didn't get my 'good' side,LMAO!

Lessons learnt? Wheel trolleys are a GOOD thing. Have a suitable socket for the B.F.O. axle nuts. Have some engine stand bolts ready if your new stand doesn't come with them. Coffee,CocaCola and Beagles around food are a catalyst for trouble. Jerra' Pub looks WEIRD in the daylight.

And,most importantly, good friends are invaluable, not just for their efforts on one day!

Jayce.

Love all the safety gear your pit crew is into - reebok runners and such......lol

So what are you looking for, a good 180B motor to update with?

PS Glad its not my bank a/c your gunna use.

You Have Beagles?

pics.

please.

Oh,OK;if I must...

These are our 'kids'(the GT-R is 'the other woman',according to my wife,LOL!)

And 'the other woman' in her beauty, pre the overhaul...(I'm keeping this post 'on topic' now)

I <3 Beagles.

I miss my old set (left them with the ex-girlfriend  )

No need for the thanks Jayce!

Its just what we do!

Now we can add an R32 GTR to our long list of engine removals/conversions...

Conversions include:

1. R31 - RB25DET engine and gearbox(R33)

2. R31 - RB25DET NEO engine (R34) and gearbox (R33)

3. R33 GTS4 - RB26DETT (R32)

4. R32GTST - RB25DET and gearbox (R33)

5. R31 - RB20DET and gearbox (R32)

Removals / Replacements include:

1. Multiple R31 RB30E and gearbox swaps

2. R33GTST - RB25DET swap

AND last but not least - R32 GTR RB26DETT removal.

You could say that we have SOME experience with tinkering with Skylines :P

    • Wife wanted basket things in the wardrobe in our temporary house. Thought about ripping our the wardrobe and fitting the entire IKEA set, but it's a temporary house and we want to move in a few years. So IKEA advertises this as a 50cm unit, however the actually basket and rails measure 46cm wide. Only issue was depth, IKEA stuff is quite deep, where as the builder special junk is super shallow at less than 40cm. Send it, chopped the rails, then offset the mounting holes, job done, happy wife, less shit scattered all over the bedroom. Did the same to the other side too. Also drove the Skyline shit box today, dropped off oil at Supercheap Auto. I didn't realise they only now take max 2x bottles per visit. I visited 2x Supercheap Autos.
    • I've seen similar actually in my situation. You never know what tables are attempted to be used when the car thinks it's -99C or +200C. The fail state is not usually that extreme but you know what I mean - it was in my case though! This is where being able to read all the sensors is useful cause you see this stuff really quickly.
    • The above is very important. However as long as you keep timing relatively low, it's plausible to make your own knock ears and plausible to learn to tune with a modern ECU that can do wideband O2 correction like a boost controller. I mean if you only have one viable road to even drive the car on, learning to tinker to this level may be worth doing given you can't do much else with the car...?
    • I find the fact that the rear plate has to be bent inwards at the rear not so bad: but the front is just awful: It's like come on. (these are my very old, now retired/turned in plates) TBH it is a lot of money to fix a minor issue, the fact I said "I'll never really spend the money on doing this" is why people ended up buying them as a gift for a 'car guy' who can be hard to shop for.. for car guy things.
    • I just bent the ends of my premo plates. It even went through Regency like that after the engine conversion and the inspector (a great bloke!) just squinted his eyes and said "I didn't see that". Plates, and how they look, are just something that have zero importance to me.
