Piston Muncher Response

Guest piston muncher

I just came onto these forums and saw all the replies to my "cruise" thread....and i was shocked, to say the least, at all the accusations. I wanna set everything straight right here:

First of all, I AM NOT A COP! If you don't believe me, look at my email address. It's an RMIT email address....last time i looked there were no cops or 14year old kids at RMIT.

I hav to say i did laugh when some of u suggested that i pulled a "sting" operation.....if i did, don't u think it would hav been smarter if i got the cop cars down at 9:30pm and blocked off the car park.....not at 10:30pm/11pm when everyone would hav gone?

Surely u can't hold me responsible for the cop presence....i hav no control over the cops and their radars....geeez

I do admit though that the meeting spot was not a good one, and i hav to blame this on my former idiot friend for suggesting "the back of Epping Plaza". There is no friggin back...that's why everyone was all over the place. But we still got 20-30 cars and because we saw a lot of security floating around we didn't want to arouse any suspicion so we left right on 9:30pm which would explain why no one saw us there, and i am truly sorry for the people who rocked up and missed out....i would b just as pissed as u guys....but i really had no idea it would turn out that way.

Another thing....it seems a lot of u got the wrong idea as to what type of cruise this is. I am only one person who noticed that there is a lack of cruises in the local area. Notice i said "local". If u guys think this is some huge club cruise with 1000+ cars, then u hav completely the wrong idea....i wish we could get that many. I don't expect people to come down from all parts of Victoria, i just meant for the local people to come down....sorry but i should of explained this more clearly. Having said that, i don't care if people come down from all parts of Victoria, but don't crack it at me if u hav missed the meet spot, or there wasn't as many cars as u expected....with these things it's touch and go. That's why this is more for the local boys, because if something happens then u didn't hav to go to far out of your way to get there. The reason i wanted to start these cruises in the first place, was to hav fun....

Just to make it clear for everyone....this is an UNOFFICIAL "Underground" CRUISE

UNOFFICIAL: Means i hav no control over how many people are going to rock up, and it's not a super organised car club cruise like MCCR.

UNDERGROUND: I hope most of u hardcore people no what this means

CRUISE: We will do a little cruise to get to our destination, but don't expect some huge long cruise in the mountains or something....like i said this is not an MCCR cruise

Ok, i hope this clears everything up, and i am truly sorry for the people who missed out. Now for this Friday night, i am deffinetly changing the meet spot to Epping Autobarn carpark....this way everyone should know where it is, and the car park is much smaller.

Meet here at 9:30pm sharp....if people come down at 10pm then it's their own fault if they miss out. From there we will take a 20-30min cruise to Laverton, and from there we will b going somewhere close to hav fun :P

I hope u guys can trust me enough to come down, because if we do get the numbers, it will b a truly fun night, and that's a promise!

Hope to see u all there!

Piston Muncher

P.S. Oh and about the evidence of the cruise thing....i'm sorry but i don't carry a camera with me everywhere i go....if u need proof then just rock up...simple. I don't think it's a good idea to record everyone who has showed up and their number plates.....people might accuse me of being a cop :P

Good on ya Piston Muncher....

I hav known Piston Muncher for a very long time, and he truly is a good bloke. However his other so called "friend" is an absolute d*#$head....and is the real reason why all this happened, even though piston muncher is too good to say it.

Please don't condemn piston muncher....he's the only one making an effort to hav a local cruise....some people say someone should start something up, and then when someone does, they get blasted....can't please everyone i suppose.

Hopefully that's in the past now. I will rock up again piston muncher, because i know if u get the numbers that it will be fun. I know though that even if we only hav a few cars that we can still make it good :burnout:

We need the support of all the Northern Suburbs boyz to come down and make it better, and then hopefully it can b a regular thing!!!

thats cool guys its just a bit edgy with all the 'recent' (comma's as we dont know how long its been goin on for) police presence on the forums who try to throw people into their playing fields, especially from newer members, just like in for sale sections where dodgy people have signed up and not delivered products after payment has been made etc. its good to get a good forum presence happening before hand rather than just post a cruise as ur first post hehe

and yeah i would like to see a few cruises up here as well as its some times just to hard to get somewhere one night especially if ur busy every night of the week (i.e. me, i rule! hehe)

but yeah as i said just let people get to know u first off.

btw, i MIGHT stop by in my sick ass colt depends if im on my way home or not,

anyway, hope we get to know everyone soon :P

I'm still not convinced. Boostboy only registered yesterday and his only post has been to back up his mate Piston Muncher. Neither of whom were around before 17th April and who collectively total 5 posts together. I reckon a decent reputation is needed before organising a cruise.

Maybe they'd better rock up to another cruise and introduce himself before organising one themselves.

Maybe a few pics of their cars would be in order. All in good faith of course.

Sorry if I come across a little harsh there boys but I'm sure you understand why a few of us are suspicious.

yeah, yeah.. thats the sensible way to do it - I hope you can understand people's positions on this.. most of us know at least a few people on here and met personally and know they are good people. While you might have had the best intentions, jumping on here and instantly trying to organise your own cruise when nobody really knows you will always raise some suspicions amongst some people.

Well at least thanx for setting the record straight. I guess its up to people whether they want to turn up or not.

As you can imagine people are a bit weary over the circumstances, especially considering recent events. Nobody can trust anybody they don't know - unfortunately that is the way things are these days.

Yes that is true, my friend did just register on these forums, but just to stick up for me. This is not only the forum that I'm registered on. The reason why I posted this cruise was to get a decent amount of cars there. We are not twisting your arms to come to this cruise....if u think it's sus then don't come.

But look i understand where people are coming from, and i don't expect everyone to trust me, but come down and see for yourselves.

Also i don't want to advertise what car i drive and who i am, because that just gives the perfect description to the cops, and i don't want to b responsible for what goes on down there....just in case the cops decide to label me an organiser (of sorts).

Sorry buddy, i am still FAR from convinced!! As i am the one that got 'burnt'.

I was not expecting alot of cars, 10 max., your 'CLAIMED' 30 cars sounds great, but is still unproven and suspect. Surely, someone you know, or someone from another forum took a photo of the cars at the epping plaza. As i stated b4, i was there at 9:33pm and no cars in sight, while doing plaza laps for 20mins. (lol)

I love cruizing, and am also a member of a car club located in Tullamarine. Members to this forum have regular meets, your presance at one of these meets will go a long way to getting a better response. I would like to join your cruises and support any attempt to get car enthusiests together, but F***ing up a meet on your first post was not a good thing!

Come and introduce yourself at a cruise organised by one of our established members and our trust will sway (i promise i will not rip your head off, just was pissed :uh-huh: )

But you would at least give the forum some notice.

But, if you didn't. I would hunt you down till my dying days, and once caught i will slice you up with a potato peeler, till you are completely skinned, then roll your exposed flesh in a salt patch :devil2:

Apart from that i am a really friendly guy :innocent:

:) :bahaha: :bahaha:

    • As discussed in the previous post, the bushes in the 110 needed replacing. I took this opportunity to replace the castor bushes, the front lower control arm, lower the car and get the alignment dialled in with new tyres. I took it down to Alignment Motorsports on the GC to get this work done and also get more out of the Shockworks as I felt like I wasn't getting the full use out of them.  To cut a very long story short, it ended up being the case the passenger side castor arm wouldn't accept the brand new bush as the sleeve had worn badly enough to the point you could push the new bush in by hand and completely through. Trying a pair of TRD bushes didn't fix the issue either (I had originally gone with Hardrace bushes). We needed to urgently source another castor arm, and thankfully this was sourced and the guys at the shop worked on my car until 7pm on a Saturday to get everything done. The car rides a lot nicer now with the suspension dialled in properly. Lowered the car a little as well to suit the lower profile front tyres, and just bring the car down generally. Eternally thankful for the guys down at the shop to get the car sorted, we both pulled big favours from our contacts to get it done on the Saturday.  Also plugged in the new Stedi foglights into the S15, and even from a quick test in the garage I'm keen to see how they look out on the road. I had some concerns about the length of the LED body and whether it'd fit in the foglight housing but it's fine.  I've got a small window coming up next month where I'll likely get a little paint work done on the 110 to remove the rear wing, add a boot wing and roof wing, get the side skirt fixed up and colour match the little panel on the tail lights so that I can install some badges that I've kept in storage. I'm also tempted to put in a new pair of headlights on the 110.  Until then, here's some more pictures from Easter this year.
    • I would put a fuel pressure gauge between the filter and the fuel rail, see if it's maintaining good fuel pressure at idle going up to the point when it stalls. Do you see any strange behavior in commanded fuel leading up to the point when it stalls? You might have to start going through the service manual and doing a long list of sensor tests if it's not the fuel system for whatever reason.
    • Hi,  Just joined the forum so I could share my "fix" of this problem. Might be of use to someone. Had the same hunting at idle issue on my V36 with VQ35HR engine after swapping the engine because the original one got overheated.  While changing the engine I made the mistake of cleaning the throttle bodies and tried all the tricks i could find to do a throttle relearn with no luck. Gave in and took it to a shop and they couldn't sort it. Then took it to my local Nissan dealership and they couldn't get it to idle properly. They said I'd need to replace the throttle bodies and the ecu probably costing more than the car is worth. So I had the idea of replacing the carbon I cleaned out with a thin layer of super glue and it's back to normal idle now. Bit rough but saved the car from the wreckers 🤣
    • After my last update, I went ahead with cleaning and restoring the entire fuel system. This included removing the tank and cleaning it with the Beyond Balistics solution, power washing it multiple times, drying it thoroughly, rinsing with IPA, drying again with heat gun and compressed air. Also, cleaning out the lines, fuel rail, and replacing the fuel pump with an OEM-style one. During the cleaning process, I replaced several hoses - including the breather hose on the fuel tank, which turned out to be the cause of the earlier fuel leak. This is what the old fuel filter looked like: Fuel tank before cleaning: Dirty Fuel Tank.mp4   Fuel tank after cleaning (some staining remains): Clean Fuel Tank.mp4 Both the OEM 270cc and new DeatschWerks 550cc injectors were cleaned professionally by a shop. Before reassembling everything, I tested the fuel flow by running the pump output into a container at the fuel filter location - flow looked good. I then fitted the new fuel filter and reassembled the rest of the system. Fuel Flow Test.mp4 Test 1 - 550cc injectors Ran the new fuel pump with its supplied diagonal strainer (different from OEM’s flat strainer) and my 550cc injectors using the same resized-injector map I had successfully used before. At first, it idled roughly and stalled when I applied throttle. Checked the spark plugs and found that they were fouled with carbon (likely from the earlier overly rich running when the injectors were clogged). After cleaning the plugs, the car started fine. However, it would only idle for 30–60 seconds before stalling, and while driving it would feel like a “fuel cut” after a few seconds - though it wouldn’t fully stall. Test 2 – Strainer swap Suspecting the diagonal strainer might not be reaching the tank bottom, I swapped it for the original flat strainer and filled the tank with ~45L of fuel. The issue persisted exactly the same. Test 3 – OEM injectors To eliminate tuning variables, I reinstalled the OEM 270cc injectors and reverted to the original map. Cleaned the spark plugs again just in-case. The stalling and “fuel cut” still remained.   At this stage, I suspect an intermittent power or connection fault at the fuel pump hanger, caused during the cleaning process. This has led me to look into getting Frenchy’s fuel hanger and replacing the unit entirely. TL;DR: Cleaned and restored the fuel system (tank, lines, rail, pump). Tested 550cc injectors with the same resized-injector map as before, but the car stalls at idle and experiences what feels like “fuel cut” after a few seconds of driving. Swapped back to OEM injectors with original map to rule out tuning, but the issue persists. Now suspecting an intermittent power or connection fault at the fuel pump hanger, possibly cause by the cleaning process.
